The Details

Ten hut!

Today is a good day, for it is the day that you troops begin your training in one of the core aspects of vidding. Today, you will focus your skills on one main thing: beat use.

What is beat use? Let the sergeant talk, recruit. Beat use is the vidding method of changing clips to the drum beats (or otherwise) of the song, and following the feel of the music (such as by having a running scene in a very fast drum beat, or a slow meaningful scene once the music slows down). It's quite often used to change from one clip to the next, but it doesn't always have to. A flash of white in the middle of the clip right at the beat works too!

The vidders who have the skill to handle beat use have the skill to make practically any video good. It's vital to be a full-fledged fighting marine - uh - vidder.

In this contest, you will be competing to produce a video with the best beat use possible. Other things, like story and originality, are still important too, but the beats are the money shots in this one. Find your most rocking song, and beat the hell out of it! You may use rap, electronica, or any type of music where you can sink your teeth into the beats.

At ease.
