PC --> LOL Tom. The whole 'Your not my type' thing that he said to Kate. I actually didnt think that at all, but I am slow sometimes. I didn't say this in my other post but I actually loved Jacks flashbacks. Not because he beats up his dad (didn't see that coming) but just because you realise that he is human after all. Matthew Fox's acting was great in this episode IMO. The way he acted out Jack realising his marrige is really over just kinda left me open mouthed. I hope they don't make Jack too dark though. I would lose intrest after, just like I did with Sayid.

This was really not my type of episode, and for a season opener i found it was very disapointing. I know this season is suposed to be more 'character driven' than the rest but come on! The first 5 minutes was really cool of course, but after that, did the story really advance? The 3 captives are all still in the same place they were at the begining of the episode, and we didn't see anything back at the camp. Compared to the season 1 and 2 this was a pretty talky opener that doesn't really hook you in. If this was the first episode of lost i had seen, i'm not sure i would keep watching.

btw, knowing the mind games the Others like to play, I'm pretty sure the whole 'Karl escape' was an act meant to make Sawyer think twice about attempting to escaping.

Anayway, the next episode looks much more like a season opener type to me. lets hope it kicks it up a notch.

Well then, I thought Sarah was a bitch; like she was mean to him. I understand that he was kind of an obsessive weirdo. But how tacky that
1.) the person called during the divorce proceedings...
2.) she ANSWERED when they were trying to talk
3.) she LAUGHED on the phone and it was obviously something about him.

As for "Jack is a murderer" thing, Ill be the Devil's Advocate here: Uh, Christian had a choice whether to be drunk or not. He never told Jack he was getting sober. And Enchirito is right---> it weould have been good to say "Sarah and I have nothing to do with each other" or something.

But really, wasnt anyone else waiting for them to ask "why were we kidnapped and brought here?" but no one did!

I can't help but chuckle at how the Jaters are putting down the Skate scenes just like the Skaters put down the Jate scenes... I hope y'all notice that I try not to Jack OR Jate bash, despite the fact that I love Sawyer and Skate to pieces! I mean, I'm fairly sure that your response to that "Sawyer and Kate see each other" scene (and the chemistry flies -- lightning bolts, like Ruth said! Woo! ) is going to all be about who you'd rather see Kate with.

I personally thought it was great the way that he gave her his food (I expected him to half it with her rather than give her the whole thing! Awwwww... ). I think he deserved to show some caring and a bit of selflessness after all of the "tree-frog-squishing, new-sheriff-in-towning, I-just-conned-EVERYBODY-ness" that went on last year. If they want to keep him (and all of the characters) 3 dimensional, then they have to keep showing unexpected flashes of both good AND bad or they'll go all cardboard cut-out!

Anyway, as soon as Kate asked Henry (I don't know if I can get used to calling him Ben or not! ) about "Sawyer and Jack" I actually said outloud, "She said Sawyer first!" Then he said, "Why Sawyer?" which made me feel all observant for, like, 2 seconds!

I think, based on that alone, that's why they put her in a cage by Sawyer rather than down in the fish tank with Jack. I could totally see a psychological experiment of somesort going on with that. I could definitely see them wanting a baby out of the whole thing (since they were SOOOO interested in Aaron) but I'm not sure that that alone would be the point in setting her up with Sawyer OR Jack and just sort hoping nature will take its course, you know? Wouldn't it be easier to have just done something medically to her while she was unconscious? (Uh-oh, spoiler warning???? )

If Kate ends up pregnant "miraculously" at some point in the future, remember I called it here!

Oh and about Tom... The way he looked at Kate and gave that sort of incredulous laugh at "you're not my type," he's either REALLY into blondes or he's gotta be gay!

Ais---> again you have hit the nail on the head! I NEVER bash Jate or Jack either, I call it like I see it, I wish any "Jaters" could return the courtesy. I couldve "gone nuts" over the Jack-Kate kiss, but I didnt. Really I wasnt angered by it, it was just there!

Aw, thanks, Ruth!

I don't get stressed over the whole "Kate's with Sawyer! No, Kate's with Jack!" thing because I watched soap operas for a LOT of years and that's the one thing you have to accept when you follow their storylines for very long: the couple you LOOOOOOOOOVE is never going to get together and be "happily ever after." They're going to break them up, repeatedly. They're going to put them with other people, repeatedly. Then eventually, they'll come back together again. Then it'll start all over again. *sigh*

This's why I stopped watching soaps, BTW! But I learned my lesson. Don't freak out when they break your ship apart. If the show goes on long enough, they'll come back together. And in the meanwhile, you can always read fanfics, watch vids, and hang out with other people who love your ship, too, and still enjoy them even if that's not what you're seeing on the show right at that moment.

The Skate scene was alright in principle, just the way it came across was a bit too sappy and tacky for my liking.

As for people happy Jack got punched, let's not pretend someone like that will get knocked out by a lame hit like that

I think a lot of skaters/jaters me included see scenes from the opposite ship as very contrived. This is mainly based on bias. I have to say the Skate scene was very sweet and it is not necessarily a romantic scene at all you can see it as a nice friendly one. I remember the Jate shower scene from early last season. Now that was defintely a lame ass scene Also the Jate scenes where something interupts them is the epitomy of lameness and that happened a lot last season so imo Jate have a lot more 'lame' scenes than we do.

I spose that's TV ultimately. We'll just see where they go from here, after all Kate is seperated from Jack and that will make a difference (well it should).

Ah well wait and see. As long as Jack doesn't start trusting the stupid Juliette woman things will be fine. She's so blatantly evil, as is all the others. I hope every possible opportunity for violence is utilised

As for Jack being a murderer, this isn't the time when Christian goes off the Australia to drink himself into a box. Unless you mean something else?

WOWZ.
I just watched it.
I looooove Juliet. She's awesome!
And angry water deprived Jack is quite the scaryness. Was a little dissapointed by the Jack flashback to be honest. We didn't really learn ANYTHING more about him.
The others are funny. I think I like them better than the LOSTies now.

Awww, I guess I am one out of the few here who like Juliet. I think the tension between her and Benry is awesome. From what I can tell, it looks as if she hasn't been bewitched by Benry's creepiness spell. Obviously, she still follows his orders, but it looks as if she doesn't carry them out because she thinks he'll have her head if she doesn't. She seems like a really strong and smart character who HASN'T been brainwashed by her leader. I think Juliet will be a very interesting character indeed. Elizabeth Mitchell is doing great so far.

And I liked Jack's flashbacks too. They were relatively short, and a bit vague, but I think I prefer it that way. They really captured Jack's obsessive state of mind IMO, and I sympathized for him, both in the FB's and during the island scenes. Jack's really starting to grow on me. I've never been too big of a Jack-fan, but I've had a change of heart after this episode. I think the whole Juliet-understands-Jack factor really influenced that. She doesn't hold back with him or take any of his bull, and she does so calmly, like she really does want to help him. Sign me up for the Jack/Juliet train too! "I don't think you're stupid. I think you're stubborn." HEE!

The Kate stuff at the beginning bugged me a bit. It just felt as if she was trying to keep up the tough-girl-who-doesn't-give-a-shit act, when I would imagine Kate to be worried sick about the whereabouts of Jack and Sawyer, as well as her own safety. Her terror finally showed on her face at the end when she was reunited with Sawyer, but before then, I wasn't moved by Kate's storyline at all. And personally, I think the whole "Duude, a guy not wanting to see Kate naked MUST be gay!" thing is a bit silly. I hope Tom isn't gay. Gaaah.

And the Kate/Sawyer scene was sweet. I think that was the nicest Sawyer has ever been on Lost, LOL. It was...interesting. Kate was totally out of her element: locked in a cage, handcuffed, starving, wearing a bloody dress, and all the while coming off as completely vulnerable. You could just see how much that broke Sawyer's heart, and I loved how he made her laugh despite these circumstances. That was some really nice stuff.

All in all, a very good ep. I really liked it.

I'm going to hop in on the Jate/Skate hate issue. So...okay, I do have to agree that I hear a lot more Jaters complaining about Skate than I do vise versa. I, personally, can't stand either of the ships, because I can't stand Kate and if I had to choose one, it would be Jate, because I'm fascinated with Kate and Jack's complete oppositeness to one another and still the attraction...they way they interact with one another is interesting to me. You wouldn't hear me bashing on Skaters though.

Another example: I HATE Shayid. Hate it with a passion, because I'm a hardcore Shooner and if I feel like going AU, I'm a Channonite...but I never bashed on Shayid fans or complained about Shayid scenes, and I never will...it's just disrespectful and rude. I wish the ship hate would calm down and everybody could keep that stuff to themselves. After all, they're fictional characters, no matter how much we identify with, analyze, and try to understand them as "people". What's the point of driving a rift between people who all congregate here because of a mutual love for the show? It only creates a hostile environment and ruins the fun of being united on this forum. Am I wrong?

Yeah DOWN WITH SHIP HATE! Mist---> I may disagree with you on other things, but youre the only other person Ive ever "seen" not really like Shayid either. I wasnt for or against it, I just feel it was really rushed. Shannon was SO co-dependent, and Sayid was just like grasping at straws to care about someone. I mean if you do stand back and look at it, Shannon was sort of an idiot. But please dont jump all ove rme, I just felt the "I love you!!!" was a bit sudden, sorry thats how I feel.

Honestly, I liked the Sawyer/Kate scene for absolutely NO "shippiness" (okay maybe a little after-thoughts of it) but I was thinking as companions- that they finally saw something/someone familiar, and THAT relief was really powerful. Felt bad for Sawyer- Kate gets a shower, Jack is at least inside- and of course, Sawyer gets an outdoor cage complete with the rat pellets and trough. One question---> wheres the bathroom???

Im actually starting to like Kate, as for the whole pregnancy thing---> ewwwww! And if Juliet is so "good" and is willing to be defiant against Benry, why does she go along with him? And shes SO full of compassion- thats why she just sits back and lets these people be kidnapped, killed, tortured, drugged, threatened, beaten, experimented-on, humiliated, emotionally blackmailed and other fine ecoutrements. NOTHING about what these people have done so far could be considered "good"...if they were truly "good" why didnt they just get Peace Corps on the survivors, helping them with medical treatment, homes, food, etc. instead of just pretending and pardon the French- dicking around with them? I mean what would be different if they had just helped? A lot of people might still be alive (assuming that Othertown has an Othertown hospital) and, I dont know. Whatever, Im sorry this post got so long, but I will never EVER trust any of them. Man, how Juliets expression, demeanor, body language instantly changed once she "broke" Jack and left the room.

Being bored to death by Jack's flashbacks has nothing to do with being a Skater for me. I just think his flashbacks are soooo boring. It's always one of two different stories. Either crap with his dad or his wife. THis time it was BOTH Wow.
