something weird is going on with my laptop and im not sure what :S But I can't delete The MS OFFICE trails off my comp with Add/Remove programs. I get this error:
setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available
which makes no sense to me :S and i cant download another trial because ive tried and its like it recognizes the older versions cos they're still on the computer and they won't even begin to install :S i get the same error as above when I try :S
does anyone know how I can get it off my comp?? i tried deleting the Microsoft Office folder but when i try, i get this message mid-delte that tells me i need permisson to do it :S which makes no sense cos im the only admin on the comp ;S heck, im the only one period on the comp
grr, its so annoying :S id just figured out how to get it for free :S:S _________________

You tried system restore?
You could try openoffice as a stop gap it's a free word processor that is compatible with Microsoft Office: http://www.openoffice.org/ _________________

I did some poking around and found other instances of people not being able to uninstall the Office trial but I can't find any solutions! And of course Microsoft's site is no help, they just tell you to remove it through the add/remove programs blah blah blah but no idea what to do if that fails! That really sucks, hon! I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything! |

my last restre point was after i installed the Sims so they're still there
but the system restore didnt work :S its so irritating!!! Word opens but all the options are greyed out like my trial has ended :S ive downloaded two new ones but like i said, they dont work cos its like my comp is still reading the old ones cos they're still there :S:S
its infuriating cos i cant write anything _________________

That happened to me and mine was a legal copy of office that came with my laptop so that pissed me off I just didn't have the serial key for it. I'd advise you to turn off office updating when you get a working version then it can't screw with it. Hope you get it sorted!
edit: Well I found this site: http://www.instant-registry-fixes.org/steps-to-perform-2007-office-uninstall/ Gives some tips to manually uninstall Office but it seems a lengthy process :s _________________

Phew!!! That took the better part of an hour but it worked Thanks Paul *hugs*
Man it was confusing and I thought i was gonna screw up my whole comp, but it worked fine and i installed Office again good as new :S only issue now is hacking into the trial again :S you wouldn't have any sneaky ways of doing that would ya? its gone back to asking me for a product key :S _________________
