This is unbelievably annoying. Okay, I'm trying to make a vid with clips ripped from my DVD's. Unfortunately Magic stopped working for me so I got back in to using DVD Shrink and that was fine....until I actually use the .mpg files in Vegas. Sometimes the clips look alright, other times they completely frak up and "jump" to other parts of the scene that I never highlighted in the trimmer. It's SO annoying and it messes up my video so I thought I'd use Super to convert my files in to a file that wouldn't keep jumping like that. But whenever I use it it gets to a certain point every time and comes up with this:
As you can see I used an AVI file to see if it was just the .mpg files that were messing up but the AVI file failed too. I've already tried re-downloading but it just WON'T let me on any computer! And I must've tried about 2 other host sites including Softpedia, it just won't let me.
Ok, scrap that. I downloaded it again and it worked. But now I've tried converting random AVI files and this message comes up:
I don't really understand all that Help? I can't test my .mpg files atm, but I will soon...
Now I've also tried to use Cucusoft ipod movie converter suite which has worked wonderfully in the past. But whenever I try to convert my .mpg files it just closes without saying anything. I think this is because it recognises the files to be too large 'cause it's managed smaller ones before but it won't work with any now And I tested it with a wmv file and it works fine.
This is just so frustrating. Whenever I want to vid something that ISN'T Lost something always happens to stop me ¬_¬ Please help me. What can I do?? |

gah; that sucks jemmz. this happens to me to every now and again. I use DVD shrink with all my DVD's. with that jumping thing; i've found that it actually doesn't stick if you replace the clip.
like when it jumps all over a certain point or flashes a split second clip of a completely different scene, delete or even cut/paste that clip again and it shouldn't screw up. it doesnt for me, at least. im not sure what it is; i think it's the MPEG/Vegas screw up equivalent of the AVI/Vegas, problem, lol ;P I'd give that a try before you try converting the files because that can also screw up the original file. also try importing the bits you need; ive found that helps, too.
I remember I got Super awhile back and it totally screwed my head so I just got rid of it. ;P _________________

hmm, ok, so are you saying to just delete my clip on the timeline and then just add it again? Because that didn't work with one of them. I'll let you know if it happens again and what you said works If I go to project media and open/trim the clip there is it the same as importing? Because the thing I want to import are half episodes and there are several of them, I just have the feeling it will take a long time to load =p |

yeh, that's what I mean, delete is and add it in again
I know what you mean about half-eps, mine are exactly the same for all season 1-3 but it doesnt take long at all. it takes like a second for them to import i always import its pretty much the same thing; as far as I can tell I think the term 'import' is misleading, lol its a simple click and thats all
hope it works for ya _________________

I've never tried ripping DVDs so I don't know much about any of those programs, sorry! But I did notice at the bottom of this cap...

...it has several things marked as [PROBLEM]. It requires 20 GB free and found only 3 GB, it needs 176 MB of RAM available and there was only 108 MB, the CPU speed is required to be 1800 MHz and it was 1038 MHz and it doesn't seem to want to work with Vista. So if all of those are true and that's not just some odd error the program is coming up with, then that's probably a great deal of your problem right there.
On XP you can click Start - (right-click) My Computer - Properties and that will give you a listing of your RAM, CPU speed and operating system. Then you can click My Computer - [right click] the hard drive (usually the C: drive) - Properties and that will show you how much hard drive space is available and how much you have total. With Vista, though, I'm not quite sure how you access all that same info. But it sounds like you might not have enough oomph to run the program and I know that will definitely cause serious problems.
*hugs* Hope you're able to get it all worked out! ♥! |

Hey Jemma, I used to use Super to convert with, but I started having the same problem when I got a new comp, with Vista on it. I found a way around that error message, but it seriously took like three or so hours to convert a whole episode of something, which is quite annoying in itself. So I found another program that's free, very easy to operate, and so much faster than Super. I'll give you the URL, so you can try it out. If you need anymore help though, let me know and I'll see what I can do

Thanks Ais, yeah I have vista and there should be pleanty of space because the file should be going to my hard drive. Idk, it's all really confusing O_O lol
Tammy, thanks for the link! I'll definitely have a look at that. Atm, I'm converting the files with WMM on another computer and it seems to be working fine but if all goes wrong again I'll have a look at that converter |
