I hate my country right now. At least our country's team for the WC... "Sweden ties against Trinidad-Tobago, 0-0".
Playoffs? Bye, bye. If we can't beat a Caribbean island with a population of 1.3 million people and a Fifa world raking in the no 47 spot, when we are 9.1 million people and have a no. 16 spot in the ranking... we can't beat either England or Paraguay! For-get-it.
I'll stick to my icehockey as usual, thanks. At least we won both the Olympics and the World Cup this year in my beloved sport!
But... I'd be soooo happy if we won against England _________________

Well, it's quite simple. Brazil has a tradition of losing when we're big favorites. It's like what happened in 98 in that final against France, that was just so completely embarrassing and it haunted us until last World Cup, where we won. And we won back then because it had hit those guys that being a favorite doesn't mean you're going to win! You have to PLAY!
Right now, people are just so confident we're going to win, that I'm SURE we won't. It will be 98 all over again.
You've no idea, but all the World Cup news around here are about the Brazilian team, we have no information on other teams, which is just ridiculous.
I agree, we have a strong team, but if they keep going with this "Oh, of COURSE we're gonna win" attitude, we're doomed. |

But you gotta admit that Trinidad-Tobago did fairly well, at least their keeper and the defence.
Of course, I absolutely understand what you mean though. I'm pretty sure that I'd be very embarassed if Germany lost or played 0:0 against a country like Trinidad-Tobago. That's what happened to Poland and I was quite angry and disappointed (but then again, Poland is not really one of very good European soccer nations).

True, true. Being too self-confident and relying too much on your reputation is not always a good thing. _________________

You're very right about that keeper and their defence, they were a lot stronger than I'd thought they'd be. Clearly we had the abvance, we got a lot of chanses, but the ball just didn't seem to go our way.
1 point for us and 1 point for T-T. And 3 points for England... Now we gotta beat either Paraguay or England, or else it's byebye, as said.
When Sweden is out I'll be keeping my hopes up for Germany, it'd be soo cool if they won! _________________

I will keep my fingers crossed for Sweden, too.
Yeah, it would be awesome if Germany won. It's always great to win in your home country. Our first match went very well, but the German team had many problems in the matches before. We will see...
Next match will be against Poland next Wednesday (oh no! my native country against the country I live in now!!) . Germany is likely to win this one, I reckon, cause the Polish guys don't play too good at the moment. _________________

Oh, I forgot! Poland! I'll be keeping my thums up for them too, 'cause my friend is Polish, and we've got some Polish people in our family. I might be going there next year too, so go Poland!
But, yeah, wouldn't it be fantastic if Germany won at home? My dream-scenario is Sweden-Germany in the final The odds are too high for Sweden right now for me believing in that though...
I think that Brazil will be hard to beat, but since they haven't played a game yet (or have they?) I can't say anything about that. I need to see how they're playing before I can say anything.
I hope though that an un-favored country will win this year.
Like Greece in the EC two years ago! _________________

Yeah, like Poland I don't see that happening though They will have a hard time making it into the next round.
I don't want Brazil to win (no offence meant, Di ). It's not that I don't like them, but they've just won so many times already (5?). Well, but Germany did too, so I wouldn't mind someone else to win this time...... go Sweden! _________________

Yeah, go us!
We'll see what happens. Portugal doesn't look too bad either, they could deserve to win after the EC - I mean, they came second after Greece, who's not even in the WC! That says something about the qualifications they keep up for like 1 year... it pays off! _________________

oh my god t&t had SUCH A GOOD GOALIE! Sweden werre smacking amazing shots at him and he just didn't let anything through! He's got to be one of the best in the world. Seriously, he was the man of the match.
Paraguay are such a dirty team! They were hacking and diving all over the place! And the ref was poor. Gerrard actually got a yellow card, when he made NO CONTACT with the other player, and they dived over him. He slide tackled two players in a row, and both times he went right between their legs as they lept over him, and then dived to the floor. It was disgraceful. _________________

lol no offense taken.
I get your point and yeah, we won 5 times already. Can't say I'm not proud, but... well, I'd love to see a non-favorited country win this World Cup. I was cheering for Iran today...
And meandi, no we haven't played yet. Our first game will be on Tuesday at 4 pm, if I'm not mistaken. The whole country is gonna stop to watch the game... lol I can't really complain. Any excuse for not having classes is a good excuse. |

*lol*
Yeah, during the last World Cup in 2002 (I was still going to school at that time), we used to watch Germany's matches with our Biology teacher instead of having classes _________________

We didn't stop our classes and because of that I missed Anders Svensson's goal against Argentina that took us from the 'Death Group' to the playoffs in 2002... but to me I only care if it's really really important, like, uh... hockey!
I've had a lot of luck in where the WC of hockey's been the latest few years, only i Europe with great times. When the Olympics will come to Vancouver in 2010, it will be pretty tough though... at that time I'll be in High School, a soon graduate _________________
