ideas; not plans. it's not all sorted out; it never has been. Because people's ideas/thoughts change and some ideas work better that others. we also like to keep them as a surprise; which is why we don't discuss them

Seriously, though, there are some things that we know in advance, such as December usually gets a Christmas theme, etc. We have tons of ideas on tap at all times and we're always working behind the scenes to see what contests will work best and for what month. So they're both planned months in advance and also are as fluid and changing as we need them to be.

I was thinking of maybe doing Tribute videos to other vidders. In the sense that if they did an AU or a ship video with a song that you really wanted to do as well but didn't want it to come across as stealing someone's ideas, the task would be for you to try to do their video with the only difference being that the characters have to change?
E.g. say if someone did a PB&J AU to a certain song then the new task would be to pull off the same AU story with a different canon/non-canon ship.
At the end of it the video would be tributed to the original vidder. Make sense?

This way its almost like an award..*scratch head* and a challenge at the same time especially if you're someone who has never done an AU for example.

What do you think? If I'm not being clear as to what I mean...Hit me. lol

But do you get what I mean its not simply taking a song that someone else used and making a vid. because obviously that happens all the time.. lol
say if someone tried to pull off Nikki's "Closure" AU, they'd dedicate it or award it to her BUT have to use a different ship either canon or non-canon.
Or if it was a tribute video, character study then obviously you'd change the characters but have maybe the same styles, try to hit the same beat use on the song that was used and award it to the original vidder. Maybe have their name in the vid title..

Yeah, I totally get the idea. My Kylar (Kate/Sylar) vid is about how Kate and Sylar were happily married, but then found out that they had both killed a parent and Sylar had powers and all this crazyness and it went downhill from there... so someone would have to take that exact story and just use different characters to tell the story. Right?

Kind of off topic, but I feel like my soul NEEDS a Hip Hop contest. Not that Snow Patrol and Evenessance aren't great artists for vidding, I just feel like it's the same old same old. Seriously, does anyone get as excited as me when they see a lost video to a hip hop/R&B song? It's always sure to be creative and fun! It's great for beat use skills and now a days there's a lot of "lyrical hip hop" for lyric interpretation. Think about a kate video to "Heartless" by Kanye West or a Locke video to "Dead and Gone" by T.I and Justin Timberlake.

We all can appreciate the beautiful art that's came out of the Coldplay and Sarah McLachlan contest, but I think it's time to ramp it up with some R Kelly and Lil' Wayne!
