Lost Video Island

I think we should do a backstories contest. It doesn't really involve the island part of the storyline, but the flashbacks. but here's the catch.. they can't be their original backstories. Now, I have 2 ideas for that.

1) You have to give your character of choice another character's backstory. ie - Charlie is a criminal on the run, Kate is a doctor, Jack is a rockstar, and Sawyer is in love with his step sister Shannon. It can be ensemble or just one particular character, but I thought that would be really interesting. It'd take some manipping skills and maybe a few random clips from non-Lost land, but I think it could be pulled off and would certainly make for an interesting vid to watch!

OR

2) They just have to have a completely different AU backstory, such as - Sawyer is the rich, spoiled son of Charles Widmore.

I like the idea of creating a completly new and unique back story for the characters. I already have an idea for Kate.

i have an idea...though its rubbish compared to what other people have come up with
How about a contest where you give the characters who don't have a flashback i.e. Penny, Charles, Liam a backstory? It would be fun to create whole new lives for these characters AU or realistic

That's a cool idea, Amy... I had a similar one the other day, except I though we could take characters we already know (Charlie, Sawyer, etc.) and create NEW backstories for them. We've been seeing a lot of AU flash-forwards lately, so why not AU flashbacks?

EDIT: Oh, lol, I just saw Sassy had the same idea at the top of this page. Great minds think alike, I guess.

lol Thanks, Kat. I like them both as well. I'd especially love to flip a backstory and do Charlie on the run or something crazy like that. hehe I'm trying to think of who else I could flip...

hm... you could use Brave One scenes and give Sayid, Jack's background

im trying to think, because contests need to have judge-able element , that giving each character another character's background would be the best. The question would be; what is the point of the video? like what is it working towards? Like if we're telling their off-island story as another character, the 'ending' so to speak is how they get on the plane, so would this same 'ending' apply to a completely wacky AU? like Eko as Walt's father?

Yeah, I was thinking it would lead up to them getting on the plane, or it has to be implied by a line or manip that they will be going to the airport, ya know? You have to switch the character's backstory and lead up to them getting on the plane (you can do it with a line like "I'm going to the airport tomorrow" lol, or show them driving by an airport to imply it).

Oh, and it'd be kinda silly to say that ALL the details have to be the same, but generally the same. Charlie is a criminal, Kate is a doctor (who's husband left her?), or whoever you want to use etc. The backstory has to be basically the same as another character's, but it's an alternate universe, so it wouldn't be exactly the same. I'm not sure of all the details, what do you think?

or i guess just showing them getting on the plane would work as well but i think they all says something along the lines of 'i'm going to LA' lol

I'll take it up with the other CM's and defo. add it to the list

Yeah, that's what I meant. It's ok if you don't actually show them getting on the plane, cuz you can have them talking about going to LA, or by/in the airport etc.
