The Amazing Adventures of Aislynn

Episode 1x11: The Pastry Plane.

Day 59: The Airport.

“Excuse me.” Asked Paul at the front desk. “I was wondering if you could get us some cheap tickets over to some place in Europe?”

The woman stared at him oddly. “Honya.” She said. “Fuelo Ming-shou Kinj Kanj?”

“Did she just say something about King Kong?” asked Nate.

“No.” said Aislynn. “Obviously she’s speaking another language!”

“Long fay!” continued the woman. “Mitcho Schnitzel!”

“Mmm…” said Paul. “Schnitzel…”

“We’ll need to find someone who can translate!” said Vicky.

“I guess we could…” said Aislynn. “But how ‘bout this?”

Aislynn got a cookie from their hotel out of her pocket. “Here, eat this.” She said, as the woman began to eat it. “That’s a good girl…now… speak English!”

The woman went into a trance. “There - Are - Some – Cheap – Tickets – to – Germany, Russia, or - France.” She said in a zombie-like voice.

“France, please.” Said Josh. The woman booked their tickets.

“Thank-you.” She said.

As the group walked away, Vicky asked “How the hell did you do that?”

“Well…” began Aislynn. “It’s this trick my father from China taught me. It’s called ‘The Hypnotic Baked Goods Mind Teasing Mind Trick’. But… I just call it the cookie-thing-a-ma-jig.”

“That was really cool.” Said Nate. “Can ya teach me some time?”

“Sure, I’ll teach you on the plane.


An hour later, they were all on the plane. Boone had been put in the back, while Aislynn and the others were in the middle of the stuffy plane.

“This plane is terrible!” said Vicky. “It’s like a hot desert here!”

Nate fanned himself with a magazine, then asked Aislynn if she could teach him the cookie-thing-a-ma-jig.

“Okay…” said Aislynn. “First, get a piece of pastry or a cookie.”

Nate stopped one of the flight attendants for a pretzel, which he scoffed down quickly.

“Err…” said Aislynn. “You weren’t meant to eat it.”

“Oh.” Nate stopped another flight attendant for a cookie.

Aislynn continued. “Now, place your right hand on the bottom of the cookie, then wave your left hand over the top.”

Other tourists turned around and laughed as Nate waved his hand on top of a large cookie.

Aislynn ignored them and continued. “Close your eyes and bob your head up and down.”

Nate did as she told him, while more people laughed. Aislynn began to open her mouth to say the next instruction, but Paul put his hand over her mouth. Paul put on a good impersonation of a woman’s voice, and pretended to be Aislynn…

“Now drop the cookie, and put two hands on your hips.”

Nate did so, and Paul continued giving him instructions, until he was doing a cross between the chicken dance and the Macarena. The other people in the plane exploded with laughter, and Nate opened his eyes to realise what was going on. He got out of his chair, and went up to one particularly loud French man.

Nate grabbed his cookie back, and waved his hand over it. “Ding dong fried rice tim tam!” he said randomly, and the man’s face turned white, like the woman at the counter’s face had before.

Nate went on. “You will dance the Macarena then fall and break your arm.” He said.

The man did the exact thing. “Nate!” shouted Aislynn, Vicky, Paul and Josh.

“Well, I had to test it out on someone!” Nate replied.

“But…” said Aislynn. “I hadn’t finished telling you how to do it!”

“Yeah, but I thought I may aswell just see if muttering some Chinese words would do it.”

“Wow!” exclaimed Aislynn. “That’s exactly what you have to do!”

The passengers all sat back down as the French man was taken to the back of the plane. Nobody said what Nate had done. Most tourists were afraid he’d do the same to them!

“So how much longer til we get to France?” asked Aislynn.

“About 17 hours.” Said Paul.

The group groaned.

“Oh, come on, guys!” said Vicky. “Let’s play Eye-Spy!”

“I spy…” said Nate. “Something white.”

“The plane?” asked Josh.

“Yes! Okay, your turn.”

“I spy…” said Josh. “Something boring.”

“The plane?” asked Nate.

“Yes!”

“You guys don’t have to humour me!” said Vicky. “I was just trying to make the ride a bit more enjoyable.”

“Who’s humouring you?” asked Josh. “We’re having fun!”

“Okay…” said Vicky.

Nate and Josh went on, laughing. Nate forgot for a while that he was trying to make Josh look bad so he could be with Aislynn. Then Aislynn joint in with the game.

“I spy something…blue!” she said.

“Blue…” thought Nate. “Like the colour of her eyes…oh god, how… I love you!”

Wait…had Nate just thought that last part or said it out loud?

“What?!?” asked Aislynn.

“What?!?” asked Vicky.

“What, what did I miss?” asked Paul, who had just come out of the toilet in the plane.

“Err…” said Nate, as Josh stared at him angrily. “Anyone for cookies?”
