That makes me feel even more sorry for her.

I understand that he wanted Bae but Bae left because of how bad Rumple became IMO.

Well to be fair--Rumple helped push her toward the evil direction--but the ultimate choice was up to Regina, and every choice after that was Regina's. So I mean, yeah what Rumple did was wrong, but everything after that was Regina's own doing...so I don't really feel too sorry for her.

Bae didn't want to leave Rumple, he wanted Rumple to come with him, but Rumple was too afraid of becoming a coward again if he lost his powers. So granted, him losing Bae was his own fault, but Rumple's admitted that when he was telling Belle about what happened. I think that he truly wants to change (at least on some level) otherwise he wouldn't have opened up to Belle the way that he did.

And I believe on some level, that Regina wants to be redeemed. I just feel that Regina is well past redemption at this point. She has ruined so many lives, there's really no way to come back from that. I mean, she is going to have to do something major to fix what all she has broken.

I agree with you about Regina. I definitely feel bad for her that Rumple, Frankenstein, and Jefferson manipulated her the way they did, but she still had the choice. After Frankenstein told her he couldn't save Daniel, the next thing she did was go back to Rumple and rip out the heart of his new apprentice. There's something dark in Regina that can't just be because of a broken heart, people lose loved ones all the time without turning to the kind of dark stuff she does.

That said, I really do feel bad for her and I believe she does want to redeem herself, if for no other reason than that she wants to keep Henry. I think she could do it, but she's going to have to own up to what she's done, show some remorse, etc.

I'm confused how some people seem to have the same name in both Storybrooke and fairytale land like Jefferson aswell. Franksenstein is a story that doesn't seem to be fit really so was disappointed with that.

Jefferson has the same name in Storybrooke because he remembered Fairy-Tale Land, and he wasn't trying to hide his identity from anyone.

Sure, Frankenstein doesn't fit in Fairytale Land, but Frankenstein was from somewhere else. People have been saying it's weird that all of a sudden they're bringing in these other worlds, but no, they introduced this idea back in Jefferson's first episode, 1x17. He took Regina to Wonderland, and they also passed through that place with a bunch of other doors to other worlds. So this isn't really new.

I'm so excited for the next episode! We'll be getting some Emma backstory, and find out who Henry's dad is! Plus more Hook which is good because I love him a lot. And I'm excited to see Jorge Garcia guest star!! :D:D

Plus Jefferson said it best. "A real world. How arrogant are you to think yours is the only one? There are infinite more. You have to open your mind. They touch one another, pressing up in a long line of lands, each just as real as the last. All have theier own rules; some have magic, some don't, and some need magic."

So that line by itself gives them the option to bring in other characters. Plus, the writers have said that when they started writing the show that they had more than just "fairytale" characters in mind, and that others could and would show up.

That's one thing I love about this show, is the fact that you don't know who is going to show up next!

There were a lot of things at play with how Regina got to be the way she was. I think Rumple's plan was just the final straw.

IMO a lot of it came from her parents, her mother was evil and ruthless and sometimes we fall into what we know; and Regina knew that. A lot of kids claim not to want to be like their parents; but then a lot of them do.

Also I never got the impression that her marriage to Snow's father was a happy one. I think he loved the idea of Regina but never Regina.

She's not a good person; she's made mistakes, but she also was forced to become this. Her choices are her own but she was also pushed to that point.

I get there are other worlds; but I just felt Frankenstein felt a wee bit out of place.

But I thought the entire episode was going to be more suspenseful with Daniel being back from the dead.

I did too. In the promo it looked like Daniel was popping up all over Storybrooke to haunt Regina. But she only saw him once before she went to his coffin and then to Whale.

Quote:
I hope that she reallly is using Jiminy's help and not using him.

I think it's interesting that Regina is basically addicted to magic. I think because of Henry, she does want to stop using magic. I just feel like we're being lead to believe that Regina is becoming magic free and not a threat, but in the end I think they're going to twist it again and she'll (at least for a time) go back to her evil ways. I think if Cora makes it to Storybrooke, we'll see the return of Evil Regina.

Quote:
Why does Dr. Whale have an american accent now he has his memories back?

I was getting confused during the flashbacks. I would think he sounded british, then he'd sound American, then he'd be British again. That is weird how he seems to have lost his accent. I guess he's been in Storybrooke too long and the accent rubbed off on him?

Quote:
I could care less about Sleeping Beauty. She grates on my nerves

In my opinion, she needs to prove her worth. She hasn't done anything to prove that she is a valueable member of the group that is trying to get back to Storybrooke. Mulan isn't my favorite character, but she has been helpful and proven her worth to the team.

Quote:
I believe that he needed her to become this monster to set the whole curse thing into motion.

He did it because he needed to get to our world, and Regina was his best option.

Good point. That makes sense. I remember him talking about that some now.
I think he knew he needed her to get here, but he also knew he'd have Emma to break the curse once they got there.Once the curse was broken, he had the power.

I see Regina's story ending one of two ways:
1. She is left behind in either Storybrooke or Fairytale land, with all other characters living in the other land. Regina has all her powers, all her magic, but she's an exiled leader of a lonely land.
2. Regina finds redemption by sacrficing her life to save Emma (or maybe Snow). I believe Henry would witness this. In that moment, Henry would know Regina really did love him and the other characters would for the first time see Regina did have a heart, and she was a good, selfless person deep down.

I hope that for the most part the show stays rooted in Fairytales and mythological characters.Although characters from books like Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz, are fine because they still have a Fairytale feel to them. I wouldn't really like seeing characters whose stories are set in the 'real world'.
Frankenstein did feel like a weird fit. I feel like it's just on the edge.It kind of fits because of the Mad Hatter's hat of multiple worlds. One thing that made it odd to me is that I thought they were sticking with characters whose stories we grew up with as children. We grow up hearing fairytales, Alice in Wonderland and Oz as some of the first stories your parents read to you. But Frankenstein is certainly not one of the first stories you hear as a child. That's for when you're a bit older.

I think they have a very fine line to walk when bringing in new characters. Some classic characters work and some just seem out of place.(It's pretty hard to be out of place in a show about story book characters. So when you're out of place, you are very out of place. )

But I look forward to seeing what childhood favorites show up next.

I disagree about Regina going evil upon seeing Cora. We saw A LOT of parallels between Cora/Regina this season. And I think that's foreshadowing Regina and her want and need for change. I think that Cora might actually make Regina want to be better; not to become her; I think that revelation will help her. Regina never wanted to end up like Cora; but eventually did; so I'm hoping that Cora will be that light at the end of Regina's tunnel.

The accent could have rubbed off on him. He's been in Storybrooke for 28 years. It's plausible. He also could have been using a fake one; he seemed like a mysterious man.

Did he have the power to see in the future? Because Regina was YOUNG when she turned evil; Emma wasn't even a glimmer in Snow and Charming's eye yet.

I'd be really disappointed if they killed off Regina or got rid of her character. But I also doubt they'd go that route; because she seems to bring in just as much viewers as Emma/Snow does. I'd commend the writers for redeeming her; instead of getting rid of her. I hate when shows push characters down so far that they have to just kill them off.

What I meant was that I can see Regina using her evil magic to take down Cora. I think she'd use dark magic to get rid of Cora and any other evil forces once and for all.Right now she's being good and trying not to use it,but I think she may be forced to do some dark things to protect Storybrooke from Cora. We've seen in the past that magic and power have gone to her head, so I think she would lose control slightly but once Cora was gone, Regina would try to return to not using magic. I think Regina can only fully give up magic once Cora is gone, because I think she's the only one powerful enough to take her on.

I think for Regina it will come down to a choice of either avoid magic and watch the town and people she cares about be destroyed by Cora or use magic and save her town and the people in it.

While she'll have to use dark magic and it will make her a little evil again, this time it would be for the good of everyone.

I believe he does know things about the future. He told Snow when she was pregnant that Emma would return to save them when she was 28 years old. That proved true, so he is capable of seeing the future at least sometimes. I don't think Gold can see the future anymore, but when he was Rumple I think he knew alot about the world to come.

I feel like he's set alot of what's happened in motion since early on.
He helped Charming with the magic ring so he could find Snow again. By finding Snow, they got married and had Emma. By having Emma, they were able to send her away so she returned on her 28th birthday. With her return she eventually broke the curse that enabled him to have power.
I think somewhere along the line he also figured out that Henry would be the one to bring Emma to Storybrooke. I think that's why he got Henry for Regina.

If they killed her off, I see it being in the final episodes of the series. Much like how they killed off so many favorites in the last episodes of Lost. I would prefer her to find redemption and remain alive, but I've just always felt like it could go the other way. So many of the fairytales have the character of the evil queen or evil stepmother meeting a horrible demise. That's why I wonder if they would twist it to have Regina meet a heroic demise. Maybe she can still save Emma or Snow, but not be killed. I just feel like she has to save one of them since so much of her life she's spent wanting to destroy them.

IMO OUAT isn't as black and white as the stories. The villains aren't pure evil. And the good characters have flaws. Thats what makes this show great.

I totally agree, Brooke! I sympathize with everyone on the show, even Regina now (they've done a much better job with her this season). I really like young Regina in the flashbacks, she is a sweetheart. Hopefully Regina can get on her way to becoming something resembling that girl, though I don't think she'll ever be that innocent again.

Sunday's ep was my favorite of the season so far. I LOVED it. Jefferson is my favorite character so I'm always thrilled to see him, and I loved getting more backstory on Regina - how she met Jefferson, how she started using black magic. Also loved the stuff with Emma and the other girls in FairyTale Land, meeting Hook and everything. I'm waiting for Aurora to step up to the plate and do something.... I love her, but I can't really explain why!

I LOVE HER BECAUSE WHY NOT? She's definitely nicer than Mulan. So what if she's not a stereotypical fighter type? She's kind and compassionate - and yes, angry, but she's not blaming Snow and Emma for Phillip's death anymore, so. I think she has a right to be angry, anyway.

I love how the show has these shades of gray in everyone. We even saw a dark side in Snow White that one time, haha!

I really hope Regina's redemption arc isn't too "easy". I think Daniel's death could have set her back - it doesn't look like it has, really, right now, but I don't want her to set off on the road to redemption with no problems along the way. That's just not interesting. I agree that if/when Cora shows up in Storybrooke, that could cause Regina to return to using dark magic so stop her.

I guess I'm in the minority here but I really don't care that they brought Frankenstein in.

I love that about OUAT too. I like that they sort of keep you wondering if a good character is really so pure and if a villian is really so evil. It's much more interesting than the traditional stories where the good guy always saves the day and the bad guy always causes chaos.I also like that the show has so many strong women. In the traditional stories the princesses are pretty one diminsional and usually waiting for the prince to come and save them.I like that in this show the princesses don't need their prince to rescue them, they can take care of themselves. I like that the villans were not born evil, but have become seen as evil through complicated circumstances. I like how they've expanded the stories to explain what lead the villians to become the villians.

Thanks for the clarification on Jefferson. I'd forgotten about that. There still seem to be some holes with stuff but it's not a huge deal.

I really like Aurora but I think that's because I really like the actress mostly. Excited to see the Jorge Garcia episode too!

Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland fit better for me than Dr. Frankenstein because Wonderland and Neverland are separate from our world and they have a magical quality to them which lends itself to fairy tales.

Do you think they willl have Narnia soon? That would be cool. All the talk of wardrobes makes me think they will. Hopefully there aren't any issues with rights.

See, there you go. Exactly. They've never confined themselves to just fairytale/magical worlds, we've just never seen any of the others til now.

I thought of Narnia too! It would be cool to see! I dunno if they will since those movies are relatively recent... But who knows?

Good point about Aurora, Elyse. I really think that's why I like her - I'm not overly fond of Mulan at the moment because she seems a little holier-than-thou, but hopefully that changes. I like Aurora because she's so much more than what she could have been - they could have made her a damsel in distress like in a normal fairy tale or another warrior princess like Snow, but she's somewhere in the middle. I feel like she's been a damsel in distress most of her life but now she has to step it up and figure out what she's REALLY made of.

I think Jefferson seems like such an important character that it really bums me out he's probably not going to be around much more this season. Not to keep harping on it, but.... He understands all these different worlds so much better than anyone else, I just wonder if they'll be able to get by without him (or even explain his absence adequately).
Maybe they'll surprise me and bring him back for more than the three episodes he was allegedly signed on for.
