Yeah! I was thinking about bringing back one of my RP characters that was an Other. She was "played by" Mischa Barton

Aww, thanks, Elyse! I would love my own Lost OC. I would need to think more about it though, lol. It's taking me forever to piece together things about my Heroes OC. Nearly there now though, I'm trying to think of a name now!

Do you guys find it easier to write for your OC first? I feel like I'm just trying to make everything fit with the footage I have available and that makes me feel rather limited!

Yeah, if you're trying to work out your OC's story or whatever, it's probably best to write first. With mine, I kind of came up with her, and the basics of her personality, and then cast her as Ellen Page. Then as I was watching the footage I had of Ellen, that kind of influenced the character, but I had a lot of stuff figured out already.

For Diana, I worked on her profile and creating her character before I decided on the actress. With Lindsey, I saw an Ashley Judd movie and became inspired by one of her characters so I created her from that, though she's not the same as the movie character. It just depends on your muse/inspiration, though normally, I'd say to make up your character before you cast the actress.

Hee, I did it the opposite way around. It was mainly because the inspiration came from the actor though and the ideas just kept springing to mind after that

I think I will have a go at writing for him though. Now that I have the ideas I feel like I have the inspiration to write as well

For both my main OCs, Zoe and Michayla, I was writing them for awhile before I even thought about casting them. Michayla, I was writing before I even STARTED vidding, I think, so....basically I had an idea for this redhead teenager to crash on the island with our Losties. I started writing and her personality kind of evolved from there....which is why she comes across as this sweet girl in the first couple chapters and gets gradually more bitchy.

*loves Michayla* And by the time I thought about vidding her, I had my heart set on finding someone who actually looked the way I'd been imagining her for three years, and that was really, really hard. Finally decided on Karen Gillan with Millie's help.

Zoe....same deal, kind of. She actually came into existence when I was writing this SPN fic I never posted anywhere - it was based on an experience I had last summer that I decided to turn into an SPN fic for the hell of it, and Zoe was a secondary character in that. She kept forcing her way into the limelight, so I was like, "fine, girlie, have your own fic."

Then when I decided I wanted to vid her, like Michayla, I wanted someone who looked like her and settled on Kirsten.

I didn't even take into account the kind of footage either of them would give me.

I got really lucky with Kirsten, and I'm still kind of scoping out what I can do with Karen's stuff.

Though, by now, since I'm sort of obsessed with OCs, I can look at an actor or actress and think "hey, they'd be good for an OC."

Vidding was very, very secondary

Plus, like you said its hard to find someone with beach/jungle scenes, so mostly I don't even bother about it because you can manip what you need to with most actresses by just using 'outside' scenes.

Somtimes, for me at least, actors and OC's just meet at the right point. Like Mia was always in my head, but i didn't really start writing her til I was watching the Resident Evil series and through Milla would be a good mia

I don't even remember how I cast SPN Andie with Emily Blunt, lol

it may have been cos in Sunshine Cleaning, she is exactly as I pictured Andie with a mother who committed suicide to boot!

But I would say write first, and get a feel for your character, and then you never know what you'll be watching that might make you think "Hmm... she'd work for an OC..."

Here's my essay ^_^

For Carrie, I started writing her around the same time I started vidding (just over a year ago) so when I did come to think about vidding her, I chose Mila Kunis purely because she's my favourite actress and felt right for the role

When it came to Zoey, I decided I needed an actress who I had a good knowledge of footage for, and had both badass and sensitive scenes. I thought it's be best to use a lostie as I know the footage well, and I dithered between MRod and Evie for a bit. In the end I chose MRod because, again, she felt right.

For Suki, I wanted someone who I could easily manip into the Fringe lab - basically that came down to Eve Myles or Naoko Mori. I chose Naoko over Eve basically because Eve's character in Torchwood is annoying, and I didn't want Suki to come across that way

And as for April, again, I looked for useful footage and an actress who felt right. I decided on Alex Kingston because she has some forest and beach scenes, and also her character in Doctor Who has the kind of personality I'm aiming for with April. Even though Alex is older than Maggie, I figured, she'd look ok with Sayid, so she's ok with Shannon
