It's so strange... I'm going to be an Aunt again. My older brother, who died in '00 was a father and his daughter was only like 2 at the time. My family and I don't get to see her though, her mom and family don't want us to be around her because they're all mean and say and do awful things towards those they don't like, so they've kept her from us all these years even though she knows some stuff about us (like who her dad was and who we are) but her mom just won't let us see her no matter what... it really sucks, she just turned 13 and I want to be part of her life so badly, but there's nothing I can do... She's a spitting image of my brother, it's just amazing how much she looks like him.

Anyway, I'm happy and kinda surprised... It's gonna be so weird having a kid around.

Aw congrats! Being an aunt is great. I never get to see my nephew though because I don't see my brother that much which is a shame because, like you, I'd love to be a part of his life.

Still, having a new addition to any family is an exciting prospect!

It's gonna be nice... now I can have some photos of him or her... I think this is gonna be good for my brother, help him grow up some (he can be a bit immature and he's almost 30) and now that he has his own place, that'll help him too.

Aww, that's great news, Summer! I'm sure it'll be great and amazing for all of you. Babies are wonderful

I know how you must be feeling about your niece though. It's the same with my family and my cousin who is 16. Her mom (my mother's younger sister) is such a nightmare of a person. She's been giving the poor kid such a hard time all of her life and she's been keeping her away from anyone who's been trying to help. There's no getting near the kid and just like you, I feel rather helpless and I want to be part of her life, too.
I really hope we'll both get a chance someday to spend some time with those girls!

We found out that she's having a girl! We can't wait.

She might get here at the end of May... kinda close to my birthday too... june 7 haha. So she could be born in may or be a little late and be a June baby too!
