|
|
Hello and sorry to say that the series of misfortunate events and negligence on my part have led to the loss of all but 4 of my videos.
My original video file hoster seems to have disappeared along with the parent company. I should have made my own backups but relied on keeping them on my hard drive. Few months ago my motherboard burned up (literally...smoke and all) and I didn't realize it until I started putting the pieces back together but the drive that I had all my original files and videos on failed.
So here I am asking that if anyone has a copy of these vids of mine to please let me know so that I can download and then backup then reupload them to my own video host.
Thanks,
MoreLight
Videos needed:
MoreLight's Opening Credits
Edited to say thanks Aislynn for finding Eko and Anna Lucia. Thanks to Li Moss over at Terra Firma (Farscape Forum) for Shannon. _________________

Aw that sucks ML. I am sure someone has them though cause they are excellent videos. I just checked but I don't have any of them sorry :/
I keep mine on an external hard drive and on my friend's webspace. Not on hard copies but I'll vote for that cause I do keep them backed up. _________________

Thanks for looking. It really doesn't look bad from the list here but I lost about 13 other vids for other fandoms. Odd thing is I feel lucky I didn't burn my house down from the motherboard fire. _________________

Aw, that really sucks, ML! Sorry to hear that. I'm in the process of moving my stuff onto a new computer so I don't have any actual vids on here yet but I do have my "Official Obsessive-Compulsive List Of All Vids I Have Copies Of" and this is what I have of yours:
1. Lost - Shannon's Perfect Day
2. Lost - Mr. Eko's rumble
3. Lost - Ana-Lucia's Voyage
4. 24 - Atom Bomb
5. Battlestar Galactica - BoomShak2
6. Underworld
7. Farscape - Dukes of Hezmana
I could've sworn I have the opening credits one too but I'm not seeing it just yet. I'll keep looking. I may just have filed it under a different name so it's not popping up on my search. (I may compulsively keep lists but they're not always good lists! )
Anyway, let me know which of those you'd like and how you'd like me to get them to you (do you care if they're zipped together and what hosting place works best for you -- YSI, Rapidshare, whatever).
Glad that the fire wasn't more serious! Hope you'll be able to get all your vids back eventually!
Oh, and I back everything up on CD: files, pics, vids... But you probably could've guessed that, huh? (And if it's something really important to me, I make more than one copy and store them in different places. Yes, folks, they didn't just give me the Obsessive-Compulsive title... I earned it! ) |

OMG Ais that would be amazing! I think any of those uploaders would be fine with me. YSI worked well in the past.
I managed to call on help from the Farscape Forums and found nearly all my vids from that fandom and Shannon's Perfect Day. I had almost given up on ever getting back my BSG and Underworld vids! EXCELLENT!
Whenever you get a chance I still need:
Mr. Eko's Rumble (I need to redo it and when I do I will put you in the credits!)
Ana Lucia's Voyage (I thought I had this but I only had the first 1/3)
BSG - Boom Shak-a-Lak (By Apache Indian)
Underworld (All Night Long -Def Lep)
I think my opening credits I named MoreLight's Opening Credits or it could be under Atlantic Realm by Clannad
Please send me the links via PM and I would be extremely happy. Needless to say I'd dedicate a vid to you also. _________________

Heya ML, how badly did this hard drive get damaged? Did it also catch fire, or is it structurally fine, but just beign recognized on Windows as RAW data or whatever? If so, then there's a good chance most of your data is still there and you can recover it I had this problem, nearly losing 90 GB of space, but I used the program Easyrecovery Profesion al and it really saved my ass. I only lost a few files, and that's because I moved half of my files onto the disk while I was still extracting from it. As long as the hard disk hasn't been seriously damaged or writen to, all the data should still be there. Just do a "Quick format" (which doesn't actually format the actual data) and run the recovery.
Of course, I may be preaching to the choir I'm not quite sure of your occupation, but I can guess you're probably skilled in this area already. Still, this knowledge was a lifesaver to me in the time of need.
I'm sorry, but I don't have any of the files either the only one I have besides my own is Aislynn's "CELLS", from the old days when it didn't exist on the internet and it was my fav lol... I'm gonna go back up my files again though this is bringing up painful memories |

Awwww, Warren's the only one who ever really loved "Cells" like that!

Ooo, dedications and credit shout-outs are the way to this viddergirl's heart! I'll be glad to get them for you. It'll be tomorrow, though, since I've got to find the discs and get them uploaded.
I'm glad that the 'Scapers were able to help you with the bulk of them! That's really awful to have lost them from basically 2 places at the same time! |

Thanks Hobbes. Any helpful info is appreciated and although I do build PC's (as a hobby) and am a web dev/designer it is info that could have saved my info if I hadn't already destroyed the data myself. In the mad rush (since I had a client who needed the website up during my disaster). Here is the sad story. I had 3 drives (two 80 GB and one 200 GB) on my rig of which 2 I thought were the completely separate backups for my media and TV/DVD rip clips along with my music files. I had my main "windows" drive as one of the 80's. When I grabbed a cheapo board from NewEgg and had them express mail it to me I no longer was able to use the RAID config so I took what I thought was only an OS drive and Formatted it then I installed XP on it again (in retrospect I realize the MyVideos file was on this drive and not my 200). At this point it possibly could be recovered but I had problems installing XP so I zeroed the drive and then started again. So this is almost like deleting something then defrag'ing then adding software... It is gone. If you don't do anything and just delete you can still recover files as you say using that program or one I use called UNDELETE. They probably work the same way as they fill in the missing designation pieces from the filename when you empty your recycle bin AFAIK.

Thanks for looking anyways. It's funny because I have DVD backups of my favorite Lost and Farscape vids from other people but only have a handful of my own. My mistake is I didn't backup my stuff on a RW DVD (of which I have 3 blank ones!!!) and to top it off I assumed the videos were on the other drive. What makes me a little PO'ed is that I had about 4 vids that were unfinished which were from 10% to 50% done and now they are really gone forever. Lesson learned.

Thank you and there is no real rush. I learned that rushing things brings less than favorable outcomes. It may be a while before I do the dedication but I am submitting for a BSG convention (which I have to start from scratch) in August so perhaps your name will be seen by hundreds in an audience! I still have to figure out a place to put the uploads anyways.

Thanks KajaM I've not heard of Badongo but Zshare would work for me and it would be one less thing Aislynn has to upload for me so great! I don't have any fabulous door prizes but I do graphic work and websites so if you need any help with that let me know. Thanks! _________________

Wow, I really enjoyed reading both of you fellows' techospeak, even though it went way over my head for the most part, lol! |
