|
|
Live recap below.
1st Break: Thank you, Lost writers, for shirtless Sawyer and Sayid, but yet no shirtless Jack. Thank you, thank you, thank you. OMG IT'S DESMOND (would have been an effective shock had I not been spoiled/the trailers not given it away.) Is it a trap? The three guys who are physically a threat, save Jin and Eko, are now on that boat...
2d Break: Jesus Christ, Jack, listen to Sayid. He knows what he's talking about. (At the mention of black smoke, though, I thought of Theseus forgetting to change black sails to white. Not sure why.) And the Locke/Eko reversal is kind of interesting. Flashback: Haha, "Desmond David Hume." Watch the forums go nuts with 'omg that is totally the name of another philosopher,' of course. So far, it's reasonably interesting; I'm wondering when the Jack/Desmond flashback fits in, and thinking beforehand, but if so Jack has to have some sort of army background; if later, then it doesn't make sense w/ Desmond being told he has to leave everything behind. (Note: All the heavy hitters are in the credits - Clancy Brown, M.C. Gainey, even Malcolm David Kelley.)
3d Break: Haha, Desmond and Libby in a flashback is entertaining. Come to think of it, Henry Ian Cusick doesn't look bad with short hair at all. It's interesting that it's Libby's boat - the possibility of her being aligned with Dharma looks more likely from that. Meanwhile, I like the group of Sayid, Jin, and Sun for some reason. Sayid and Jin together should be pretty capable, anyway. And I guess I found out when the Jack/Desmond flashback is, anyway. Sorry.
4th Break: Not as good a flashback as the previous two, as it didn't tell us anything other two didn't save that the rich girl sought out Desmond. Locke's telling Desmond about the second orientation film and demanding that they not push the button is interesting, though I still think Desmond knows much more about what's going on than he's letting on. We'll see, however. (Also, local Chicago-area commercials say that there is a new diet pill that could be good or bad, who knows - that is probably shocking and newsworthy to everyone here. I know it is to me.)
5th Break: The statue is sort of cool. I like the interplay btw Eko, Locke, and Desmond in the hatch, just on general terms. Question is - if Desmond knew how to mess up the time in the hatch so that Eko would get tricked, why didn't he just fix that in the three years he's spent on the hatch, for himself, so he wouldn't have to deal with it? I know I would. And, haha, Kelvin is decidedly different than my fanfic. Alas. (Though I will break out laughing if there is green-bottled Dharma brand beer, hee.) It's Clancy Brown, alias Sayid's captor in One of Them. - which bodes well for Sayid staying alive to meet Clancy should he still be alive. I couldn't care less about the Jack/Kate/Sawyer/Hurley trek, interestingly.
6th Break: We still haven't seen MDK or MCG. Wondering where they are, or if the credits are for both episodes. Michael's revelation of killing Ana and Libby was overscripted and underwhelming. Someone should cap Jack or something, but then again, I am a biased party where that's concerned. I like Hurley in that scene, though; at last he gets a little bit of depth to his character and grows a little bit of backbone. Flashback of Desmond and Kelvin was OK, but too quick. I wonder why Desmond hesitated when Locke said, "Oh, we've got a priest in there," too.
7th Break: Holy cow, they are blowing up the hatch. I hope Locke, Desmond, and Eko survive, and Charlie wasn't irritating this episode, so he gets a temporary pass. Ruzinski (spelling?) sounds like a reference to something too. The first time it was said, I thought Kelvin said Kosinski (as in Jerzy), but that is unfortunately incorrect. Also, Sayid is apparently suddenly devoutly Muslim (salat al-fajr, presumably = wtf?)
8th Break: The sequence of Sayid going through the village and searching the huts was quite cool, although I worry because they didn't actually show him lighting the fuse. I'm disappointed Sawyer hasn't been given more to do in this episode; it seems to be Jack v. Michael, which sucks in my opinion. None of Kelvin's revelations (har) about the hatch have been breathtaking, though. Waiting for something cool to happen on that front. Hopefully it will.
9th Break: Nice flashback, especially tying it in with the Oceanic crash. I figured Desmond had killed (?) Kelvin, but wasn't sure specifically how - it was still an effective scene nonetheless. Finally, at long last, we get a date for the flight/a bit more of an idea of things, too. I would like more of a malicious purpose to the plane crash than just Desmond screwing up and the plane going down, though. Also, an ABC preview features a bunch of cheesy shots from Lost, and it makes me cry.
10th Break: Henry Gale is awesome and quite frightening, long story short. Pretty effective villain. The doing-it-for-a-girl bit is unconvincing generally, and was the Achilles heel to Desmond's flashback. That said, the whole buildup (not pushing the button to system failure etc.) in Locke's case sort of seems me for the sake of drama than for any actual, convincing reason on Locke's part; I sort of feel like that was a bit manipulated for the sake of writing the episode.
End: The end was OK, though I'd prefer Jack and Kate not be the thrust of the story as well as Sawyer. I also wish Sawyer had been given more to do in this episode, and that they had followed up a little bit more with the Sayid/Sun/Jin trio besides just showing Sun going 'WTF?' at the bright light. They needed a bit more plot arc, and the plot arc in the jungle trek came too late to make the previous part interesting; I found the hatch stuff the best, in the episode. I hope Harold Perrineau returns next season; I like him. Malcolm David Kelley looks about 25 now, which is pretty funny. Henry Gale is still awesome as uber-villain. Hansocareers dot com was the shilled-for website, which is pretty funny. Job searches and what have you. If anyone figures anything else out other than the obvious from that, I'd be interested to know. |

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS EP IS A SPOILER SO TURN BACK NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT. THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING.
Holy Sweet Mother of God I thought all we'd get is a glimpse of the Others as they take the prisoners, and then some stupid little side story as Locke confronts the button, but in the end keeps pushing it or whatever, but not.... this Holy... holy.... wow.
There will be plenty who hate this ep, there will be plenty who love it. I don't know which one I am, but I know that this ep has restored my faith in Lost. I knew there was a reason why I watched this show, and not just to see some stupid ep about Sun being pregnant but not really being able to be ( ). I wanted things to be shaken up, something to actually happen, and see how the characters reacted. People say the show is abotu the characters at heart: but then why does nothing really ever happen to them? Today wasn't just abotu getting the answers, it was about changing everything, and finally stirring up stufdf to see the characters deal with more than some little trivial matter we see every week.
The A-Team is gone. Locke, my favourite character, could be dead for all we know, but it still all intrigues me... what will stir in the camp now that ALL the leaders that these little wuss red shirts (and Charlie) have turned to for so long are gone? Who will step up? What will happen? For the first time in my life, I'm actually interested in what Charlie is going to do, and I like that feeling They shook things up, like I've been begging them to do for ages, and I commend them for that, because we're finally getting something really new out of this all! Anyone who has watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer knows that one of the best things about that show is how they would take risks all the time. The show had mysteries, but it wasn't about the mysteries, it was about the characters coping with the situations. And they coped, and they coped, and they coped, through every level of crap that could be thrown at them, and we loved the characters for it. They never hesitated to throw something else even bigger at them, and it kept it an awesome show.
I knew there was a reason I kept watching Lost. This was it.
Before I even try to wrap my head around what actually happened, or what it all meant technical-wise, lets go over the characters:
Goners (for now):
Jack - Captured
Kate - captured
Sawyer - captured
Locke - dead? (unlikely.... no body in TV means... well, if he is gone I can deal with it.)
Eko - dead? (ditto)
Desmond - now that one is dead.
Libby - dead (and could have some serious connections with the Dharma initiative, but more on that later)
Ana Lucia - dead
Micheal - gone
Walt - gone
Survivors:
Charlie
Claire
Sun
Jin
Sayid
Hurley
Rose
Bernard
And that's it! Everyone else is completely nada, at least until they're brought back. Everyone who has helped them out and made sure they're all okay is gone, and new leaders need to step up. I actually hope the nest few eps of next season will be about these few realizing they're all that's left, and they need to do something, hopefully introducing some new characters from that pile of red shirts we never see....
Comments:
- and you guys said the button didn't do anything... LMAO
- Poor Locke, impressionable and stubborn are a bad mix. But he played a side that so many of us were turning to near the end there, when all logic pointed that way. Meanwhile, Eko had no reasoning for his motives whatsoever. Kinda stupid of Desmond to let that all happen though
- I give you: Boone closure. I was so proud of Locke at that point... and it really gives his motivation for his anger at the button: he can't stand that guilt over Boone's death
-Kalvin: I love Clancy Brown, so awesome they brought him back! (YEAH Brother Justin ) It gives me more fatith in Lost too, to see that they love that guy enough to put him in in such a tricky way too. They must have seen Carnivale... right? Maybe that whole black and white phase thing was a tribute to it
- heh, Sawyer got to kill one of them
- I like Jack more after that today
- Micheal... trap or not? Hmmm...
- so all the stations are abandonned... then where the hell are the others situated?
- *shiver* Henry Gale. Who knew that short little bugger could be that powerful. Makes me like Sayid more for giving him those scars
Wow though, that was one huge finale, whether you love it or hate it. At least it gets some strong emotions. |

I am dead lol
Okay now that was most defintely a great finale.
First of all one thing that irks me is leaving Desmond, Locke and Eko's lives in the balance but Charlie gets out and goes over and gives Claire a kiss. That was tres lame. I was really starting to believe that Desmond would end up joining them in season 3 but now I think he is most likely buried beneath all the hatch rubble. Locke and Eko probably survive. I mean how can they not? They are huge characters.
I really loved the Desmond/Penelope story. It was great how they played it over the episode. It was a sweet story, beats the hell out of Charlie/Claire anyway (sorry Liz)
The part about the experiment being an experiment in itself *high fives Hobbes* I was right Yep it's official I know my stuff
The stone foot.. that was an awesome moment. I think it probably means there was some sort of civilsation on the island. That will be cool if we find out more about them in the future.
The Jate stuff.. I didn't appreciate the looks between Jack and Kate and the whole Jack carrying over his shoulder and ignoring Sawyer thing. It stinks of how Sawyer and Skate has been ignored recently. _________________

It was good- I think if nothing else, the writers learned from last season's finale and actually told us some stuff.
I actually dont have much to say BUT:
1.) The statue. Extremely interesting- this is something ELSE the forums are going to go nuts over- now supporting the theory that the island is Atlantis or something similiar.
2.) When they got hit with the darts/tazers whatever, I couldnt help but think of Ace Venture 2.
3.) I think thats as close as we will ever get to Locke claiming responsibility for Boone- Ill admit, I got a little choked up about it.
4.) Did the Russian guy at the end NOT have Sawyer's glasses on?
5.) PB&J'ers going nuts over "the kiss".
6.) Thats going to be tough for Michael to explain even if he IS rescued.
7.) Still happy that Sawyer was angry about Ana. The other person no one could cuddle up to.
Okay gotta go to work now, try to write more later. _________________

Ok, that was a thrill ride!
I loved what happened with the hatch, the destruction, battle of wills, Desmond and his story. All sets up nicely for the next series, what's happened to Locke, Eko and Desmond of course. Penelope is evidently searching for him, but why for Electromagnetic events?
Charlie was cool, hope to see more of him next season, and the proper reconcilliation with Claire was nice.
I hate Michael, I really really hate him. I wanted Hurley to shoot him when he found out about Libby, damn shame he didn't. I'm amazed that they let Walt go though It must be a trick of some kind though, why would they let them go? And they did say he joined them. (I don't even wanna hear the word Purgatory )
Jack, Kate and Sawyer were captured, kinda predictable, but what are the others going to do with them, something to look forwards to for the next season. Hopefully, Sayid waiting in the wings will lead a one-man rescue, but being into only the third season of seven I don't see a bloody massacre of the others just yet (unfortunately)
Hurley being let go to spread the word that they can't go there, ok that's kinda baffling. Though again, another trick in order to lead the rest of the group into
I think the reason for the Jack-Kate look at the end is that Jack knows he's failed them and got Kate and Sawyer caught doing something he never told them, so he feels responsible. I think that's the whole point of the end there.
Overall I really enjoyed this finale, was excellent to watch, and can't wait to hear "Previously on Lost" in the autumn
(Ps. Hobbes, you mentionned Buffy and Lost in the same paragraph. You've disgraced Lost Sorry, but I hate Buffy. Loved the start, first 2-3 series, but after that it just fell to pieces and went so ridiculous and random it was just unbearable, both characters and plots suffered greatly. Yes Whedon took risks, but he did it wrong and ruined it all. Just my 2 cents though! ) _________________

I think Desmond is gonna be a regular next season, I still think Locke, Eko and Desmond will make it to the next season. Lost would never be the smae without Locke! _________________

HOlY SHIZ NIZ!!!!! THIS HAS TO BE THE GREATEST FINALE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!! Amazingly spectacular in every sense, I've never been more thrilled and interested for such a long time.
Way better season finale than last years, and dare I say it now, a way better overall, Season 2 as well.
Everyone should give huge credit to Desmond! Desmond stole the show, he made it interesting and gave us some interesting answers. It was kool in a sense because he was figuring them out at the same time as we were analyzing everything. I feel sad if Desmond really is dead, he was such a great character and his story was great.
The whole hatch story was probably the best part of the episode, however, all of the episode was basically spectacular, all in all it was a CRAZY RIDE! AND I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
Things I liked:
1) Desmond was awesome, his story and his character
2) Locke was insanely stubborn, but in a way it was interesting to see the reason behind his actions. He is still a good character, but I believe he will have the most growth in season 3.
3) The hatch blowing up was Awesome, as well as the rest of the scenes inside the hatch.
4) I loved the scene where Jack, Kate and the others get caught by the others while the black smoke was in the air.
5) The last ten minutes was awesome, DESMOND saved the world one last time before his end.......
6) I must say I admire Jack a whole lot more after this finale. He is indeed a great character, and close to the leader than anyone else. He was awesome.
7)Charlie was great.
They have a great villain, ironic in a sense.
9)THe end scene was perplexing, how does Pen know about the Electromagnetic events????!! HOW!!
10) Basically the whole information on the Electromagnetism behind the wall. (the dam)
I CANT WAIT TILL SEASON 3 |

Okay, now I have time to type in more input...well I'm procrastinating when I should be starting on my sh*tload of homework, but watchya gonna do?
#1- At first, especially in the jungle when Sawyer and Kate were droning on about the whole "being caught in a net" conversation, I was really unimpressed with where the supposed finale was going. But then luckily it just got better and better, and I was really surprised in a good way.
#2- Sayid. When he was creeping around the rocks before ready to point guns in the abandoned huts, I was somewhere between twisted laughing and swooning like an insanely moronic fangirl.
#3- Desmond. Looks like he's now the center of the show. Think about it. He crashed the plane in the first place, and his girlfriend is coming to rescue him and probably as an afterthought rescue all of them. Etc.
#4- My favorite scene in this finale was when the countdown went to zero. That was when my excite-o-meter actually went clear up to Return of the King level. I had no idea what I was about to see and hear from the TV screen next, but it was both exhilerating and very frightening. I felt like when all the sharp dangerous objects were flying around that in a surreal moment some object would decapitate Locke. But that only happens in R rated movies, I reassured myself. Definitely not on Lost.
#5- When the quarantine lid hit the beach and it went to commercial, I buried my head down on the bed, somewhere between wanting to cry because Locke's probably electromagnetic dust, having much anger and disappointment in the writers for killing them off, and uncertainty that they're even dead in the first place.
Here are the reasons I think why they're not dead:
*Because that would be just stupid.
*Desmond's girlfriend is coming to get him, and they wouldn't go through the trouble of showing that twist if Desmond was dead.
*They still haven't explained why Locke was paralyzed.
*Eko.....well......he's cool. _________________
