Awesome icons, Vicky.
Not sure whether this'll be really good or really bad...I'm not much of a Tom Hanks fan but I know the book of this is sposed to be really good (Haven't been able to read it yet ). _________________

The book is awesome... you should definately read it Marcus when you get the chance The only thing I have to say about the movie is "WTF Tom Hank's hair"
But considering they wanted Bill Paxton and Kate Beckinsale, I think they made a good casting decision I like Kate Beckinsale but she isn't even French _________________ Pirates 3 - MAY 25th 2007!!! |

Ok I just saw it.
It was better than what I expected. Well it wasn't boring. It was kind of fun actually. Well it aint no action packed popcorn flick, but it has its momentum. I'm still amazed by Sir Ian McKellen and Audrey Tatou's performance. They totally stole the movie from Hanks, who was playing good ole Hanks again. I love Audrey Tatou ever since I saw Amilie, and she shines in this movie. She's strong and vulnerable at the same time. I've never read the book, but I've been told by people who have read the book that her casting was a bit off. Well they were wrong, she pulled it off beautifully. And Sir Ian is good in any movie so...
All in all I enjoyed the film. I mean this is Ron Howard's movie, and I hate Beautiful Mind. LOL _________________

Thanks for your reviews, guys. Nate, stop comparing everything to MI3! I don't think they're meant for the same audiences.
Interesting seeing a review from someone who's read the book and someone who hasn't. Vicky, do you think I'd like the movie more if I read the book first? _________________

I didn't read the book and I like it. Besides you'll lose all the thrill marci. So...don't read it. _________________

it's easy enough to understand if haven't read the book, i mean it keeps all the important points in there but I think you'd appreciate it more if you read the book first... but that's just my opinion, it's totally up to you of course _________________ Pirates 3 - MAY 25th 2007!!! |

It was... good... just nothing special I wish they would stop saying how it's "breaking boxoffice records"
Characters: flat, CRAPPY, STUPID.
Casting: waste of talent. If you don't need acting (see characters), why do you need Tom Hanks?
Story: where exactly was the climax? because I don't remember one.
The basic idea was neat, and the mystery was okay, but.... it just was NOT a box office hit it was boring and the writing sucked! Just not worthy of praise It's only popular because of the controversy |

Forgot, I wanted to say this lol :
I saw this and MI3 the same night, and liked them about the same, but here's the difference between them:
MI3: mindless-action-thriller genre, but incredibly well-done action that breaks the barrier
Da Vinci: intriguing-mystery genre, but a failure in it that just squeaks by on big names
due to their genres, both movies turn out abotu equal in my mind (with M!3 in the lead) but one was a success for what it was, and the other was a failure for what it was... |
