Quote: | The interesting thing is we still don't know if the numbers actually do anything or not. All the Pearl's Orientation said was that the people there thought what they were doing was of the utmost importance. Sure, it gets the psychological experiment in place, but that doesn't mean the button does nothing either. They could have the exact same experiement, except with the numbers doing something, and it wouldn't affect the outcome of the psychological experiment anyway |
So you think the fake Hanry Gale lied when he said that he didn't punch the numbers in, and that nothing happened? We still don't know for sure who these others are, but if they are the Dharma scientists, then they would know if the number punching did nothing.
And what about the other stations? That print out had different numbers on it with accepted after them. How many stations have to input the numbers do you think?
Whatcha think Warren?
Eko was right tho, even if the number punching was a useless task...that doesn't mean the whole thing is meaningless. Something or someone is keeping track of them somewhere else besides that monitoring station. |

Did anyone else notice that the Orienation video in the Pearl while the one at the Swan was 35mm (just guessing)... Hmmm.... why is there such a difference in technology?
Also...
The Doctor in the Peral video identified himself as
"Dr. Marvin Candle" (François Chau) from the Swan Orientation Film calls himself "Dr. Mark Wickman" in the Pearl Orientation Video, and his left arm is no longer a prosthetic arm, which suggests that this orientation film was made before the "first" film we see in Orientation _________________ Avi By CITYWIDERODEO @Livejournal |

I'd say the sheer fact that someone as suspicious as Henry Gale doesn't want them to push the button is reason enough to push it. Whether he lied or not is irrelevant, the important part is the fact he told Locke that, thus discouraging him to push the button anymore. If that is indeed an experiment, then why would Henry interfere like that? That voids the experiment.
Not to mention... who the hell would spend that much money on this place just to watch some morons push a button? Nothing is learned from it!

when Eko stood on the cliff and looked down, what was it exactly that he saw? was it a question mark or was it a circle? i saw a circle but my brother saw a question mark (and a question mark would make more sense) but i just didn't see it.
did i do the color thing right? - did i have to make that yellow or could i have left it black? |
Yeah, no problem the Yellow stuff is COMPLETELY optional, it's just if you want to do something like that. I just don't want someone mistaking a harmless comment about this ep for something big about next episode or something. It's either that, or no spoilers altogether |

I still think the button does something call me crazy. I think it's experiment upon experiment. Seeing if you would think it's not real is the whole idea of it. _________________

I wouldn't know about your theory in yellow, but from what I could tell, the Pearl video was an actually cassette because it was copyrighted 1980. The Swan video looked like it was from the '60s. It had to be at least a couple of years between them. I think... _________________

I beleive both of the films are from 1980
If I'm right... what's with them being on two different formats |

I guess it was cheaper to run projection. The Swan people weren't as well off as in The Pearl. Did you not see the jacuzzi? _________________

WOW WOW WOW!!! I was completely stunned by this episode.. When I first say the last episode, I thought this next episode was going to lousy-
But Alas, it has completely rised above my expectations. This episode has got to be one of the best of this season. Sure there wasn't much action, but the mystery and performances of this episode were amazing!
I gave a major applause to Eko in this episode, hands down he was simply amazing. Eko is my favorite character now! Locke fans may be upset with Locke losing some of his faith, however should not be afraid as long as Eko is there. Eko will restore Locke to his right self. He is the true man of faith for this season.
TOtally looking forward to the next episode, and getting even more answers!
One last thing... Don't you think Michael in todays episode was funny? lol. Most of the whole time he was just curious about Libby. He kept asking questions about her, I dunno, I just thought it was funny lol. |

Because Michael thought he needed to strangle her to death or something so she wouldn't tattle... I guess to some people that's funny.

That is a really good point, Hobbes. I totally agree with you. Of course, I have to admit deep inside I've always wanted to believe the button did something (just like Locke), because if it did nothing well- that would suck! Not to mention that it wouldn't be interesting, it would just be a total let-down for the viewers part.
As for the different video format thing, I'm just thinking totally in the dark- but I think I have a theory about it. As stupid as it might be I'll just say it. The orientation in the Pearl was apparently a year before the Swan orientation, so they must have filmed the pearl tape before the 'incident' happened. Maybe somehow things got completely wiped out in the 'incident', hence Marvin Candle losing his arm and having a prosthetic, and all they had left to film the new orientation video in response to the incident was some really old crappy equipment. Do you get what I'm saying? _________________

Unless Locke snaps in the process that'd be cool.

That's really cool! And it makes sense!
Btw, does anyone have any actual proof that "Dr. Candle"'s arm is really a prosthetic? I've never noticed it, but have been told many times by others. |

Totally agree on that. I liked the idea that was broguth up in the April LVI Contest: That, if the button is not pushed, the virus "comes back" again. I would like to believe that, whatever it is that will happen if the button is not pushed, is something really huge and dramatic. That's why the Dharma guys let the people push the button, to gain time... because to haven't figured out yet what to do about.. well, about whatever it is _________________

I'm with you on that. I think the disease does exist, and isn't just a way to screw with the people's minds. Why you ask? Because Desmond was injecting himself with what I suspect is a vaccine, yet the Orientation video never once told him he had to do that. Therefore it's not part of the experiment, therefore he's been doing that because he knows (or was told) something. It's possible Kalvin was just screwing with him, but that seems like a waste of saline solution if so
I just occurred to me, Jack could have given Claire some of that medicine back in Maternity Leave when she was all whiny |
