As you all know a good song can make or break a video. It's obvious we all have a passion for music, otherwise we wouldn't be making videos. So I thought it would be cool to see what kind of bands everyone listens to so we can kind of compare. I'm sure we've all used some of our favorite band's music in our videos (I can testify to that one) but then again I bet there's a lot of music we haven't used for videos.

So I'll start with my list (it's a big one, lol). And because I'm a concert whore I'm going list the bands I've seen play live. Maybe you guys have seen them too?

My all time favorite band is Green Day (as I'm sure you can tell by my videos, hehehe). No band will ever be as good as them to me. But others that rank really high:

-Fall Out Boy (I've seen them once and am going again in April)
-Panic! At The Disco (Seen them 3 times)
-The All-American Rejects (seeing them with FOB)
-Hellogoodbye (saw them over the weekend)
-OK Go (my newest obesssion, I saw them over the weekend too)
-Motion City Soundtrack (again, over the weekend)
-Plain White T's (Weekend again)
-The Academy Is...(Weekend again)
-Jason Mraz (I've seen him twice)
-James Blunt (Saw him with Mraz)
-The Starting Line (saw them play with FOB)
-Jack's Mannequin
-Oasis
-Blink 182
-Modest Mouse
-Coldplay
-Foo Fighters
-Cake
-Incubus
-Pixies
-The Clash
-Beck
-Michael Buble
-Nirvana
-Red Hot Chili Peppers
-Damien Rice
-The Postal Service

This is actually just a small exert from my iTunes.

This weekend I was at 2 different concets. On Saturday I saw: Motion City Soundtrack, OK Go, Plain White T's, and Spill Canvas. I was really really excited because I met all the guys from OK Go, the lead singer/drummer from Plain White T's, and lead singer from Motion City. I even got some pictures!

My friend Katie and me with the lead singer, Damian Kulash from OK Go. He was such a sweet heart (and might I add- very attractive). He and the rest of the band signed ping-pong balls for me and my friend.

If you go watch the videos on the OK Go website you'll understand the ping-poing thing.

We also met the lead singer, Tom, from Plain White T's:

I still insist he's trying to cop-a-feel. Oh, and please excuse my disgusting apperance, this was after the show and my hair was a total mess (and very fitting for my shirt).

Then on Sunday I saw: The Academy Is..., Panic! At the Disco, Acceptance, and Hellogoodbye. What can I saw? I'm a concert whore.

So enough with my waaaay too long post. What kind of music do you like? Who's your favorite band? Who have you seen in concert? Everybody share!

I adore the Pogues and worship (in a fangirl sense) Shane MacGowan. I'm pretty sure that's not a secret. I'm going to see them on the 14th. That's next Tuesday. I may get killed on the T, because I'm going alone late at night in Boston. I don't care. I'll die happy, because I'll have seen Shane MacGowan live and in person. *nods*

My other favorite bands/artists (at least according to my last.FM account):

Original Broadway Cast. No, it's not a band or an artist, but all my Broadway OBCRs are labelled as Original Broadway Cast, and that's what last.FM accepts them as.
The Ramones. The fathers of punk. I know a guy who once got spit on by Deedee Ramone.
Dropkick Murphys
Endway
Keith Urban
Flogging Molly
Green Day
Kenny Chesney
Brad Paisley
Monty Python
Shane MacGowan and the Popes. *cough* Shane MacGowan is a musical god, regardless of what band he's with. But the Pogues pwn the Popes anyway. (But the Popes are still good.)

And I've recently become addicted to Lemon Demon.

(If anyone is interested, last.FM says I've played 370 Pogues songs on my iTunes since registering with them. The next highest-rated, OBCR, I've played 284 of, and then 92 Ramones, and it goes downhill from there. That should tell you how much I adore the Pogues. And Shaney Mac.)

I was never much of a "music person" until recently, when I was younger I never listened to any music at all. Odd, since both of my parents had their own bands before I was born. I haven't been to many concerts, but here are the bands I like (in no particular order):

Nickelback
Goo Goo Dolls
All-American Rejects
INXS
System of A Down
Puddle of Mudd
Foo Fighters
Saliva
Switchfoot
Papa Roach
Crossfade
My Chemical Romance
Nine Inch Nails
Pray for the Soul of Betty
The Killers
3 Doors Down
Jet
Guns N Roses

There's more that I can't think of right now.

Ruthie! I'm a closet Sublime fan. I don't know what it is about their music. No matter how raunchy it gets I feel the need to sing along! I'd love to see a lost vid made to one of their songs. Oh how they could be interpreted! Hah.

I've been a big fan of classic rock since last year when I heard some of this stuff for the first time. I'm really picky about it though. I won't list it all but I think Joe Walsh rocks, I wish Alice Cooper were my dad, and Hendrix is love.

I like Cat Stevens and Van Morrison. I think Van Morrison is one of the greatest songwriters alive and not a lot of people know him. It's insane. It's really bizarre how I have "introduced" people to Van Morrison. And then they recognize a few of the songs but they had no idea who it was singing them. Into the Mystic is probably my favorite of his. I also like Domino a lot. Alotalotalot.

Huge fan of Queen. Best rock band ever. Most of this crap was from before my time.

I used to be really into indie rock, chick rock you know. Lilith type crap. And I still dig it. But I'm happy to say that my musical tastes have SHIFTED. There is such a smorgasboard of types of music in my itunes it's probably more useful to list what I don't like.

I'm a big fan of the resurgance of real rock bands (white stripes, the strokes, et al.)

My measure of a good song is if it's good. Not if its from a style I like.

Moby, Flogging Molly, Chantal Kreviazuk, eastmountainsouth, Damien Rice, Coldplay, U2, Elliot Smith, The Postal Service, Gorillaz, Counting Crows, DMB, Everclear, Elton John, Green Day, Simon & Garfunkle, The Kinks, Jimmy Buffet, Rachael Yamagata, Aimee Mann, Chris Isaak, Broadway showtunes (and lots of 'em), Jason Mraz, Rufus Wainright, et cetera, et cetera.

I might like Green Day and Dashboard Confessional (which both pre-date the latest insurgance of "emo/punk/rock") But I won't touch Fall Out Boy and their ilk with a ten foot pole. They're the new boybands. Except whinier and with instruments. And they annoy the heck out of me. Good Charlotte? No. Charlotte has been VERY VERY bad!

Also? I couldn't hate Nickelback more.

I only like one Rod Stewart song. That's Maggie May. Most of his stuff makes my ears bleed. Lucky for me, there's probably one Rod Stewart song playing on the radio at any given moment and my mom loves him. Argh.

Whee, another Flogging Molly fan! Favorite song? Album?

(I'm tempted to comment on your "Broadway showtunes", too. But it's a lot harder to narrow down your favorite Broadway musical than your favorite Flogging Molly album. )
