It would be awesome to have an evolving list of songs that fit a specific theme, like: "songs about breaking up", "songs about falling in love", "songs about being rescued".
If you come across a song, either on your MP3 player, on the radio, or in a movie, etc. that fits a specific theme really well, go ahead and post it here and I'll compile a master list here in the OP. The more suggestions the merrier, so let's hear 'em! (Be sure to put long posts under a spoiler cut, thanks!)
I'm going to start with some general themes but we'll add new ones as we come to them. Also, some songs may fit into more than one category. Be sure to list the title and artist, too.

Thanks, Eryn! Hopefully we'll get a good list going that will help people with vid songs as well as playlists and fan-mixes. I put friendship up for ya, too, btw!
Kate, WOWZERS! Thanks for all those choices. I'll put them into the OP in a little bit here. Would you do me a favor and put your post in spoiler text since it's so long? I don't want people to be confused about which list is the master list. I always enjoy your song suggestions!

Hey guys, I need a different type of song suggestion. Something loosely for a relationship where the girl is really quirky and sometimes a bitch, and the guy is just super sweet and loves everything about her...? Ringing any bells? Sorry if it's too specific. _________________ ~Kait~
