|

Okay, so I am attempting (rather poorly) to do a vid for the crossover challenge. I am having trouble because, well, I am lazy and I haven't figured out how to get the video from my DVD onto my computer for editing.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? |

Do you have a DVD rom on your computer? If you do you can download programs called DVD shrink or DVD decrypter (both free) and rip clips that you want. It ends up ripping it into a huge folder with a bunch of different files in it, all you really need is the VOB file. Just change the extension from VOB (at least I think that's what it is, it definately starts with V) and change it to mpeg format and it will be viddable.
Hope this helps. If you download the programs and need more specific help with them, PM me and I'll check them out when I get home to give you more info. |

I ripped my own Family Guy clip for my crossover entry. I used DVD Decrypter and Dr. Divx. _________________

Hey people,
I was in the same situation and after literally about 5 days of trying different things I finally found a process that works. I got it from this site :
http://web.telia.com/~u31220486/dvd2avi/dvd2avi.htm . I tried a bunch of the one step things and none work. I also tried the whole .vob to .mpeg thing- which works for playing, but not for editing.
Anyway, the links to the apps which are free on that site are kinda screwed up, but if you look long enough you should find them. Really after the first one you get into it and its just about an hour or so of queing up processes and then a couple days strait of rendering an encodeing for the whole season. The real good thing is you are stuck to makeing them into divx or anything. I did all mine to DV-AVI which is perfect for editing (make sure you have at least 100 gigs free if you plan to do that though )
