I think Kate has become the heart of the island in some way. I don't know if that is because
she is healed, or because she feels so confused or tormented, that it's easier for her to care
for others than herself.

she's a wonderful character i think evi plays her so well and you never quite figure out what she's going to do next. She's so complex and beautiful i think this quote sums her up brilliant x

kate was so cool in s1, loved her, then by s2 if there was a kate hate club i wouldve wanted to be president. and it was like that up until s5. thenshe saved ben and her character has just developed alot in s5 imo and now i love kate i still can watch scenes in past seasons and some things kate does annoys me but i see it from a different perspective now too so i dont see them with hate anymore lol. so yay for kate love hhaah
Gonna do a few things for this thread later today when i'm all awake and stuff. I've been rewwacthign some of my favourite Kate eps and I'm just dying to blab on and on _________________

Why did people hate Kate so much after season 1? Was it b/c she couldn't decide between Jack and Sawyer? LOL b/c who can blame her on that one? _________________

I think it was Nikki, but im not sure I've never really hated her, I disliked her in season 5 because of the Aaron stuff but I've never hated her ;P But I do recall a lot of Kate Haters coming up in season 2 and onwards ;P _________________
Okay So I’m going to start by listening a few reasons why people claim to dislike/hate Kate:
Because she brings out the worst in the other characters when she's around.
She's dirty and sweaty and not in a good way.
Because she run around in the jungle and stalks people.
Because she adds nothing to the storylines.
Because she pretends to be a tough woman but cries about a toy plane.
Because when they found Charlie in the jungle. She just stood there and cried.
Because somehow she keeps falling on top of Sawyer.
Because the woman spends her days staring off into the ocean, brooding, playing head games
Because she's not a realistic character. How can we relate?
Because she’s steals babies.
OKAY SOOOO

I'm rather late on responding to this thread seeing as how AWESOME I think it is hehe But yeah...Kate rocks! And I absolutely LOVE your art Debbie, utterly gorgeous!
Kate hate makes me sad As you pointed out, alot of people's reasons are just bull...imho anyway _________________
lol yea alot of those reasons, well pretty much all are just silly. those were never really my reasons.

im big on the island, and destiny/fate storylines so one of my problems with kate was that she, imo, had no connection to the island, she just saw it as a prison. i dont like that in characters. the growing hate began i think when jack told her to stay behind in s2 and she went anyway, and ended up literally ruining everything with trying to get michael back.
i liked kates attitude of not wanting to stay behind originally, cause why should the guys do all the exlporing and have all the fun..but then as time went on it was just like, ok enough is enough when it became sabotage. so those were my two main problems..
and it had a bit to do with formerally being for skate and with sawyer as one of my favs, i hated how she ws treating him. so those were my former reasons
Ooo I love Kate! She's never been my favorite character and I do remember being annoyed at her from time to time, when she couldn't make up her mind about Sawyer and Jack. But mostly I just always liked her character. She's so interesting and mysterious. You never know what she'll do. But at the same time she can also be so caring and sweet. I loved the new side of her we've seen in season 4/5 with her being a mother.
Ooo and for some reason I also think Kate is one of the most fun characters to vid. She was the first person I made a character study of. I don't actually know why I find it so fun to vid her. She's just so hard to figure out, and because of that, you have so many ways to interpretation her actions.

People are already hating on Kate this season so I felt the need to come in here and spread the love!
What can we love about Kate so far this season? Well, she went back for Claire on the island and the Flash Sideways and cares enough about Sawyer to follow him around to make sure he is okay even though he clearly doesn't want her there. Why is that so bad?...Her heart is in the right place. Now everyone go buy this shirt
And then chillax with some wine and chocolate oh and of course strawberries.

Kate hate is definitely a-ragin' and it makes me sad. People are so quick to assign bad motives to everything she does, she doesn't even get the benefit of the doubt a lot of times.
I definitely think her heart is in the right place! ♥!

I loved that surprised little look flash-sideways!Kate had when she looked down at her hand holding Claire's, like she didn't even know she had kindness and compassion still in her. And, after all, she could've just stolen her money and dumped Claire's bags but she felt bad about what she'd done to her and did go back to try to make up for it a little bit.
And onIsland!Kate trying to comfort Sawyer after Juliet's death... How was that bad of her? Even if you don't believe she ever loved Sawyer, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say she cares about him. If she was truly the heartless witch so many people think she is, she wouldn't care that he was obviously hurting.
Kate is a flawed character but that's what makes her interesting, it's watching her struggle to overcome her own flaws and somehow do the right thing is a lot more interesting than if she just stood around being perfect all the time.
So, Kate, even if I don't love everything that you've ever done *blames the writers* I still ♥ you! ♥!
