|
|
I've had a few people ask me so I thought I may as well bang up a tutorial. The easiest way to do this is to just add the texture you want on the top timeline and change the opacity which emmasholi explains further in the Sony Vegas All-In-One Help Thread. Just scroll down and you'll find a link to it towards the end of the first post.
But the way I do it is slightly more tricky so I'll use screencaps.
1. First of all you need a texture. You can simply Google 'textures' or 'grunge textures' if you know the kind of thing you're after. Create a new Video Track above all your other tracks. Import the picture into Vegas then drag it onto the top timeline.
It must go on the top line or else it won't cover everything. And make sure you drag the texture clip over your whole video project.
2. Now your image may look something like this:
You need to change the size of the texture by using the Event Pan/Crop feature. I suggest using one of the presets. Sometimes you will need to change the size of the clip as well so they both match.
Then you should see this in the viewing window:
Don't worry; right now the texture is simply covering the clip. It ain't permanent.
4. This is the fun part, at least for me Click the Compositing Mode button to the left of the top video track and you'll get a drop down list.
Pick whatever one you wish, though some work much better than other. I suggest using Overlay or Multiply. This is what the video looks like with Overlay.
And then you're done!! You can have fun with all the different Compositing Modes to find one you like
Hope this was of some help! _________________

Cool! I didn't know you could choose "overlay" etc like in photoshop! Thanks for the tutorial, Kat! Can I ask though, where do you get your textures? Or do you just google them like you said? |

I dont have those options i only have 2.
Also whats opacity and where is it?
My Problem is that my Texture is taking over the clip to much, you can barely see the clip _________________ neil

do you have a trial version of Vegas? because it limits the options you can use.
opacity is explained here, the 7th post down. _________________

Neil, you've got Vegas Movie Studio, right? Unfortunately, it only has those two options and neither work very well for textures in my experience. I've been trying to find ways around that but so far, no luck. Which is one of the main reasons I don't use textures in my vids, 'cause I can't get them to come out all cool like you can if you have access to those other settings. |

Firstly, thanks so much for this Kat. I wondered why my textures all seemed to be 'washing out' my whole video. I had no idea you could do that 'opacity' thing.
Secondly, if anyone with Vegas Movie Studio would like me to put a texture on their vid with the Overlay option, then I'd be more than happy to do so. Aislynn? Neil? Anybody? If you PM me your finished video, and the texture you want, then I'll put the texture on it for you. It'll only take me a second. It just seems to unfair that the option isn't available to you so I'd love to help if I can. _________________
