I don't usually find spoilery stuff first but I've looked all through here and haven't seen this mentioned yet. If I missed it, well, then humor me because I'm old and forgetful.
And yes, this is the spoiler section and if you don't want to be spoiled about a character's death in season 3, then you really shouldn't be in here in the spoiler section, clicking on a link about a season 3 character's death... Even still, I'm going to spoiler text this, just because I don't want to be responsible for any unwitting trauma.

Rodrigo says that his character is to die during the Third Season of LOST

The Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro, who recently joined the cast of LOST (currently in its third season), revealed in an interview with the magazine The Rolling Stone, Brasil, that he will be leaving the show at the end of this season. Rodrigo was on the cover of that issue.
Rodrigo said that his character, Paulo, is going to die before the end of the third season. "It's not like I don't give a hoot about the show. It is a wonderful opportunity to be part of it. The truth is that I would have liked to be in LOST a bit longer, but right now, I have movie commitments,†he said in his interview.
According to the magazine article, Rodrigo’s last scenes are being filmed this month. "If in the near future, they should have some crazy idea that will allow me to come back, I’ll consider it,†he pondered.
In the United States, the third season will return from its hiatus on February 7, 2007, with 16 uninterrupted episodes. The third season was divided into two stages. The first stage aired from November 8, and Rodrigo was cast in a number of those episodes.
The second season of LOST will be aired on Globo on February 5, after the Globo News.

See how Nikki isn't dying though? It's because TPTB have secretly been reading SurReality and now they have an idea of how properly to write her, but seeing as how Paulo isn't in it, they're stuck for ideas for him.

I think this may be the first death on the show where nobody's sad about it except maybe the actor who's losing his job, lol! Or do you think there are some fans for this character out there somewhere?

yay!!!!!!
The actor playing Paulo is actually a very big film star in Brazil so having spent 6 month in Hawaii just to shoot about 5 minutes might not be enough "work" for him. And the fact that everyone hates his character might not have helped either.
I heard he was a really talented actor though. _________________
Anyone else get to thinking about the motivation for this one? Besides the obvious- fans dont like him, and maybe Rodrigo wants to leave. Is Nikki going to be entered in to the "triangle"? _________________
