Just realised who that old scruffy guy is. He played Hank on Twin Peaks:

Look at the picture with him having the moustache. He does look like MC Gainey a bit, doesn't he? No wonder we were all comfused about it.

Geez and he's been in a bunch of other shows too:

MASH
Twilight Zone

and the list goes on. He still seems familiar although I never watched Twin Peaks, and his movie listing is full of movies I haven't seen.

Doesn't have him listed for LOST, so he wasn't in the first or second season, and his profile hasn't been updated for the third season. Perhaps just a guest star or something. Hrmm...still looks familiar, but perhaps it's the similarity between him and M.C. Gainey.
