Yeah, that's right. By "real" I mean related by blood because "step-siblings", as Warren called it, aren't related by blood. (Sorry, I'm being a bit fussy here ).
So they'd be "half-siblings" or however it is called _________________

I think step sibling usually means you are related on one side of the family else they wouldn't be siblings at all.
Half-brother= stepbrother _________________

Nah, I think it's half-siblings...if Jack were Claire's step-brother that'd mean Claire was some other woman's daughter, and the woman married Jack's dad. _________________

Nope. Step-siblings are children of a step-mother or step-father. Your biological parent may adopt them, but you're not blood related.
Half brothers and half sisters are siblings with which you share only one parent with.
The whole situation is so convoluted, but here's an example:
Quote: |
Tim and Amy have a son, Josh.
They get divorced and Tim marries Lucy who has a young daughter, Britney.
Josh and Britney are step-siblings.
Tim and Lucy have a baby together, Butthead.
Butthead is both the half-brother of Josh and Britney. But Josh and Britney are still only step-siblings. |

Yeah, that's what I just said... Or am I missing something here?
Did you write that example yourself? Butthead? _________________

I'm pretty sure step siblings would be related because how would that work? The dad going into the marriage or whatever would be half of the bloodline so inevitably the chidren he already has would be half brother or half sister anyway. Therefore it is not a blood related issue step brothers and sisters can be related just one way but their parents must be married or together.
Nevermind I think I get it it's damn complicated though I say we should have let Warren's comment lie anyways _________________

If they're blood-related they're half-siblings or actual siblings. Has anyone thought that maybe they're actually proper siblings, not half or step? There are three possibilities here...
1. Claire and Jack both have the same father, making them half-siblings.
2. Claire and Jack don't have the same father, but Claire was adopted by Jack's dad, so they're step-siblings who somehow have never seen eachother.
3. They both have the same mother, both have the same father, but Claire was given away and adopted by that woman we saw in 2x20. _________________

Well there is a ten year difference or so between Claire and Jack I think so I reckon they never lived together else Jack would remember. I reckon they probably gave her away to an Australian family like Claire was going to do. It would be a nice parallel. I wonder how Christian found out where they lived though cause they don't allow that information do they? _________________

The other option is Christian had a hit n run affair in Australia I dunno I prefer the adoption story though. Although I'm not sure why they would give away their child when they already wanted children clearly cause they had Jack. _________________

A hit n run affair??? Too good, Paul!
I'm betting if they're related, it'll be from a hit n run thing and they'll be half-siblings (sharing the same father). Or this whole thing could be a total mis-direct on the part of the writers, they won't be related at all and they're gonna hit us with some surprise (and non-incestial) Jaire action in S3...
What will always haunt me is the fact that I came in at the end of "Hearts and Minds" just in time to see the big Shoone scene... without the benefit of hearing earlier in the ep that they weren't blood-related. This is what I looked like I was stunned (and rather seriously icked out ). |

Well, I'd say their "real" siblings because it looks like Christian might be both, Jack's and Claire's father. |
Whoops sory abotu that guys, I actually meant to say "half-siblings", but for some reason I didn't think that was a word . Brain fart.
Yeah, "Step siblings" = Shannon and Boone. No blood.
"Half-Siblings" = Jack and Claire one parent connection. i.e. a "hit and run" as Paul said Which I think is the most likely (though the whole adoption thing does raise some interesting parallels!)
Here's another thought though. Has anyone thought Claire being a minor-ish character, FINALLY getting another flashback episode, out of the blue, and finally being in a stable relationship (eg. the CC kiss) kinda parallels another certain blonde last season? Boy wouldn't that be interesting for her to get the Shannon-fate next season? |
