LOL thanks...I add the posterization effects, hides a myriad of probs...theyre so fake though hahha. If I was a better freehand illustrator, I'd draw 'em.

Oh and I made this special for you Jen, our author, our "Oz"...

A/N: I haven't received any vote changes, and the votes were majority enough that I didn't need the last two votes that I haven't gotten PMed to me yet. I hope you all don't mind.


The screen goes black for a moment. “The member of the Red Team voted to sit out of the next Challenge is...”

Claire sighs a little and rests her head on Charlie’s shoulder. Jen looks over at them and Charlie smiles weakly, patting her hand where it rests on her knee.

Aislynn finally looks up and Sawyer catches her eye. She offers him a half-assed smile and looks away again.

Nikki looks over at Marcus, who is too intent staring at the screen to notice.

The screen flashes white and CLAIRE is written across it in red letters.

“Claire,” Ben’s voice says, “you have been chosen to sit out the next Challenge in order to have an even number on both teams.

“The member of the Blue Team voted out of the game will have twenty minutes to pack their things and say their goodbyes. I will meet you outside the Community Room where a taxi will be waiting to take you home.

“The member of the Blue Team voted out of the game is...”

Steph looks over at Jack, raising her eyebrows. He catches her eye but quickly looks away. Her stomach drops.

Everyone on the Blue Team looks around nervously, with the exception of Locke. He doesn’t care if they vote him off; if he’s not supposed to be there, then he will see his name on the screen, because everything happens for a reason.

The screen flashes white and SUN is written across it in blue letters.

Sun blinks quickly and her jaw drops a little. She’d done really well, she thought, in the last game. She’d made it almost to the end before causing her and Locke’s disqualification. Why had the vote been for her?

Kate frowns and exchanges a look with Jack, before leaning over and hugging Sun.

“Sun,” Ben’s voice says, “you will have twenty minutes to say your goodbyes and pack your things.

“Everyone remaining in the game, in twenty minutes time, a clue for the next Challenge will be available. Please regroup in this room to receive it. Thank you.”

The screen goes black again and slowly, everyone begins to stand.

Colin and Steph exchange glances and look down at their feet, feeling guilty for having voted her off.

Sun nods and breaks away from the crowd to go back to her sleeping quarters to pack her things.

With a sigh, Claire smiles a little at Jen and Charlie. “I’m gonna go help her pack,” she says softly.

Charlie and Jen nod, though neither of them offers to join her and when she walks away, they look at one another.

“That sucks,” Jen says quietly, “that must be awful...being the first to go...”

“Better her than us,” Charlie replies with a frown.



When the twenty minutes is up, everyone follows Sun out of the Community Room and huddles around the door as she steps toward the taxi waiting. Ben takes her bags and loads them into the trunk for her.

It hurts her feelings to be voted off first, Sun has to admit, and it’s especially painful because she didn’t see it coming. Perhaps she should have been more social? Was the game going to turn into a popularity contest? She looks up at Locke as he approaches her first to hug her goodbye.

“Good luck,” Sun says softly, “buddy up,” she adds, pulling away and looking him in the eye.

Locke shakes his head. “If I’m supposed to be here, I won’t need to,” he replies.

“Still,” Sun says.

“Have a safe trip,” Claire says, as she approaches Sun and hugs her next, when Locke steps back.

Sun smiles and nods. “Have fun,” she says in return.

When everyone has said their goodbyes, in less than a minute, because Ben is tapping at his watch, Sun forces a smile and waves at everyone before disappearing into the taxi and closing the door. Ben, too, gets into the taxi–the front seat, beside the driver.

Everyone watches as the taxi pulls away and slowly fades away in the distance. Claire and Kate are in tears and even Jack looks a little hurt.

“Well...” Colin says softly, breaking the silence awkwardly.

“Yeah,” Paul replies quietly as the entire group slowly filters back into the Community Room, the mood grim. The television’s touch screen is flashing for someone to press it’s button to reveal the clue for the next Challenge.

Marcus steps forward and presses the button when he sees that everyone is in the room.

The screen fades to black and a white-lettered message comes up. It reads:

Follow the signs on the path in front of the Community Room Hut to your next mission, tomorrow at noon for your next Challenge, but take this time to reflect on the words of T.S. Eliot, “Footfalls echo in the memory down the passage which we did not take.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Ruth asks, raising an eyebrow.

“Hell if I know, Sweetcheeks,” Sawyer replies, coming up beside her.

Aislynn and Jen exchange looks, as do Marcus and Colin.

“Well,” Charlie speaks up, “I guess we’ll find out...in the meantime...”

“Who’s up for a swim?” Warren asks with a grin.
