Hey Ruth, we're the same height! You're my height twin!!!! Woooooooo, like on Friends with Joey and his hand-twin... we should seriously think about showcasing our talent!

Excellent eps Jen, can't wait for the next ep... also can't wait for season two so I can put myself forward!

Hahahha! Pixie, you so crazy!

Okay a few things:

1.) Has anyone seen that commercial with the gay man commenting on the women's hair when they walk by? Well in the first one, the second woman he says "has horrible flyaway"...um, thats my hair! Almost exactly...its poofy and wavy, but no flyaway, lol. Okay just had to tell someone that.

2.) The drinking game does not seem to be graphically feasible. Sorry.

Okay guys... Just so you know, I received enough votes for a final result from the Red Team. So if you all want Jen to finish next chapter soon, I need to ask these people from the Blue Team to send their votes to me ASAP:

Jayme
Polarbear

Just remember to send your votes within the next two days. Thank you!

EDIT: Thanks for the vote Ruth! But I'm afraid I still need the two remaining people to vote before I can give Jen a final result. My inbox is still open.

Ruth, if Jayme's vote makes a majority, then I will just write with that. If not, I will randomly pull Paul's vote if he hasn't put in by the deadline.

Sounds like a plan Jen. I don't know if anyone knows Jayme, but if someone does, give him/her a little hint, yes?

I can't remember if Leylin or Becca is the one who knows Jayme, but one of them does... drop her a PM, Chris? Maybe that'll work, since you get an email in your regular email addy to let you know you've got the PM.

“Charlie and Nikki,” Jen says, dropping her head back on the edge of the hot tub, “who’d have guessed...”

“No kidding,” Warren replies, easing into the water across the tub from her, “Sorry about earlier.”

“Don’t even worry about it,” Jen replies, waving him off dismissively, “I’m sorry, too.”

“I’m scared, Charlie,” Claire whispers to him, frowning as she cuddles up beside him on her bed, resting her head on his chest as he wraps his arms around her. “I’ve done poorly in both the games I played and I got voted to sit one out, too...what if they vote me off tomorrow?”

Charlie sighs. He knows she’s right. “I won’t let it happen,” he says.

“But, Charlie...”

“Claire,” he says firmly, smoothing her hair and rubbing her back gently, “I won’t let it happen,” he repeats, “I have someone else in mind.”

Steph sits on the edge of Colin’s bed and turns over the washcloth on his forehead so the cold side is down.

“Thanks,” he mutters gratefully. His headache and nausea had come back in full-swing while the vans were bringing them all back from the day’s Challenge.

When they returned, Steph had suggested he lay down and then when he did, she’d fetched a cold washcloth and rested it on his head—it was easing the pain and nausea away.

Steph smiles. “No problem.”

The door of the Boy’s Hut opens and Steph looks up to see Jack and Kate walk in.

“How’s he feelin’?” Kate asks, dropping herself down on the bed beside Jack’s, in her swimsuit still, as Jack takes out his first-aid kit and bandages up a cut on Kate’s hip from when she slipped getting back onto the boat at the Challenge.

“I’m right here,” Colin says, opening his eyes.

“Sorry, I thought you were sleeping. How are you feeling?”

Jack puts away his first-aid kit and looks over at Steph.

“Better I guess,” Colin says, “thanks.”

“You a nurse?” Jack asks Steph.

Steph shakes her head and smiles, turning over the washcloth again. “A mom,” she replies.

With an understanding smirk, Jack nods. “Practically interchangeable.”

“Practically,” Steph replies, laughing.

“We’re getting together a volleyball game before dinner, if you want to join us,” Kate says, more to Steph than to Colin.

“Maybe later,” Steph says as Kate and Jack start toward the door, “thanks.”

Kate nods and she and Jack leave Steph and Colin alone in the Boy’s Hut again.

“Got that side, Small Wonder?” Sawyer calls across the pool to Nikki as he lifts his end of the rope.

Nikki looks around. “Who?”

“You, Barbie,” Sawyer snaps.

“What are you guys doing?” Warren yells over as Ruth emerges from the kitchen, bouncing excitedly, with Paul trailing behind her and Marcus bringing up the rear, volleyball in hand.

“We’re gonna play volleyball,” Marcus replies, grinning. “Wanna play?”

“Won’t it be an odd number?” Jen asks.

“Yeah,” Jack says, emerging from the kitchen beside Kate, “if you and Warren both play; John’s making dinner.”

“I’m gonna stay here. You can play if you want, Warren,” Jen replies leaning back again.

“I’ll play, I guess,” Warren replies, standing up and getting out of the hot tub.

Claire wipes her eyes and sighs, sitting up. Charlie looks up at her and sits up slowly, too.

“Can we go for a walk or something, Charlie?” she asks, looking him in the eye. “I don’t want to be here sulking right now.”

Charlie’s eyes flicker over to the clock on Ruth’s bedside table. He’s supposed to meet with Jen soon; he figured if he’d laid with Claire long enough, she’d cry herself to sleep and he’d come back for her at dinner, but it isn’t working the way he’d hoped.

Nodding, he smiles. “Yeah, all right. Come on,” he says. Maybe he’ll see Jen later.

Jen watches the beginning of the game from her spot in the hot tub but the longer they play, the stronger the smell of food wafting from the kitchen and her stomach is already growling. She can’t take it anymore.

Getting out of the hot tub and wrapping herself in a towel, Jen sneaks out of the pool area and out to the beach hiding behind the large wooden fence. What she doesn’t see, however, in her haste to get away from the smell of food and forget her hunger, is that Sawyer has bailed on the volleyball game, eyebrows raised, and sights focused on her disappearance. He doesn’t like her. Hell, he doesn’t like the Has-Been all that much either, but Claire...Claire he genuinely likes and Claire is getting the wool pulled over her eyes.

Sawyer grins wickedly as he sees Charlie and Claire’s shadows cross the opening in the fence that Jen has disappeared through. Looking over his shoulder to be sure that no one is looking, Sawyer makes his way back to that part of the fence, looking out. Charlie and Claire walk past Jen sitting on the sand, looking out at the water. Jen’s head turns as they walk past and she watches them, raising her wrist and looking down at her watch, too. Charlie’s head turns as Claire takes his hand, and he looks back at Jen over his shoulder with an apologetic expression before looking forward again.

Before he can give it another thought, Sawyer snaps a look behind his shoulder when Locke calls out from the kitchen that he’s finished dinner. Perfect excuse...he’s going to find them to let them know.

The thing is, Sawyer knows this is going to hurt Claire, but secretly he doesn’t care. He’s in this for the money—he needs to win this game. Telling Claire might mean that he could gain an alliance with her, and with Aislynn gone, that’s exactly what he needs. With Jen allying Charlie and Claire, it’s only a matter of time until Sawyer is gone and he doesn’t plan on letting that happen if he can help it.

“Steph?” Jack asks quietly as he peeks his head into the Boy’s Hut.

Steph looks up from her magazine; Colin has fallen asleep. “Hmm?”

Jack nods his head in the direction of the Community Room Hut. “Dinner.”

Setting her magazine down, Steph looks over at Colin and turns his washcloth again.

“He’ll be all right,” Jack assures her. “Come on,” he adds with a smile.

Steph’s stomach agrees with Jack, so she stands and starts toward the door. Jack opens it wider and gestures her out before him. “Thanks,” she says with a smile.

Jack nods and shuts the door behind them. “Hey, do you want to go for a walk later, maybe?” Jack asks her, voice back to normal volume. “After dinner, and all.”

Steph raises her eyebrows and blushes a little. “Yeah, okay,” she says.

Jen hears Locke call out dinner and she’s dying to go. But, she doesn’t. She waits. Charlie and Claire have disappeared from sight, having gone around out of her line of vision which is blocked by some trees. She’s hoping he’ll come back and let her know what’s going on and when.

Still lurking in his hiding spot, Sawyer watches and, sure enough, Charlie comes back into view...alone.

“Wow, this looks great! Thanks, John!” Nikki says excitedly as she takes a seat beside Paul at the table where Locke has laid out a few different pasta dishes, an assortment of breads he found in the breadbox, and several different vegetable sides.

Locke nods and smiles, sitting. “You’re welcome,” he says, “I just figured we’d had such a trying Challenge today that we could all use some proper re-energizing.”

“Thanks, man,” Paul says, getting up and grabbing a couple of beers from the fridge. “Ruth!” he calls out, and when she looks, he nods and holds up the second can, then tosses it to her.

Catching the can, she frowns. “You couldn’t just bring it? Now I can’t open it, Paul,” she whines.

“It’ll be fine,” he assures her. “Just tap on the top for a sec.”

“Hey...”

Jen looks up quickly. “Hey.” She opens her eyes a little wider to express her confusion. “What’s...?” she lets her voice trail off purposefully.

“She’s really upset because she thinks she’s going to be voted off tomorrow,” Charlie says.

“And?” Jen asks, instantly feeling guilty when the word tumbles from her mouth.

Charlie looks slightly taken aback. “Just, uh...later?”

“How about a quick one?” she counters.

Charlie looks over his shoulder and sees that Claire is still out of sight. “Really quick,” he says and helps her up.

Sawyer smiles. "This is just too easy..." he mutters to himself.

“Wow, John, you really went all out...” Jack says as he and Steph walk into the kitchen.

“Where’s Colin?” Marcus asks with his mouth full.

“Gross, Gerbil,” Steph sighs as she sits down beside Ruth, Jack taking the chair on her other side. “He’s sleeping.”

Marcus shrugs and swallows his food. “Sorry. Think we should put him together a plate for later?”

“Doubt he’ll want it,” Steph replies.

Jack shakes his head, though. “We should get something in his stomach; soak up the rest of the alcohol and he’ll feel brand new tomorrow morning.”

When Charlie and Jen have disappeared from sight, Sawyer heads out to find Claire.

“No go,” Charlie whispers, shutting the Boys’ Hut door and turning back to Jen. “Colin’s in there sleeping.”

“Let’s check the Girls’,” Jen suggests. Charlie nods and they sneak quickly past the wide open door of the Community Room and hurry to the door of the Girls’ Hut. Jen opens it slowly and peeks inside. “Bingo.”

The two of them slip inside and Jen locks the door behind them, checking it to be sure. She turns to face him and he grabs her, kissing her, and the two of them falling onto the nearest bed.

“Hey there, Mamacita,” Sawyer calls out as he advances casually toward her.

Claire turns and looks. “Oh, hi,” she says distractedly, frowning.

“Where’s Charlie?” Sawyer asks when he’s up close.

Shrugging, Claire sighs. “It’s getting chilly, so he went to get something for me to wear over this...” she replies. Claire is still clad in her swimsuit and a pair of jean shorts.

Sawyer nods. “Well, dinner’s ready,” he says. He starts away, purposefully, and then turns back to her. “Oh, Claire, by the way...”

“Where is everybody?” Kate asks suddenly as she sets down her glass of water.

Everyone looks around the somewhat empty table. Five are missing.

“Well Colin is in bed, still,” Steph says, “but everyone else...”

“Jen was right in the hot tub during the game...” Warren says absently, twirling his fork around some spaghetti.

“Sawyer was playing, but then he got mad when I hit him in the face with my spike...” Marcus replies almost proudly.

“Charlie and Claire locked themselves in the Girls’ Hut last I knew,” Ruth says, “right after the Challenge; they kicked me out. Haven’t seen ‘em since.”

Jen rakes her nails down Charlie’s bare back and tosses her head back against the pillow.

“Shh!” he hisses at her when she gasps loudly.

She paws at his skin and bites her bottom lip so hard she nearly causes it to bleed.

“I’m sorry, what?” Claire asks, raising her eyebrows.

“I mean that’s not to say what’s going on right now,” Sawyer says quickly, “but, I thought you should know.”

“She was sitting...” Claire ventures, remembering that Jen was sitting on the beach as she and Charlie walked by. “No. You know what? I don’t believe you,” she says quickly, frowning. “Why would you lie?”

Sawyer shrugs. “Don’t believe me, then, Mamacita, but if I was you, I’d keep an eye on ‘em. I’m just tellin’ you what I saw. And...if you find out I’m right and you need a friend in this game,” he adds slowly, “I’ll take care of you.”

Charlie rolls off Jen and tugs his jeans back into place. “It’s been so long...” he says nervously. “Go to dinner. We’ll meet again later.”

Sighing and adjusting her own attire, Jen sits up. “When?”

“I don’t bloody know, all right? I’ll come find you,” Charlie snaps, “I have to go; she’ll be wondering, now, what’s taking me so long.”

“What was your excuse?” Jen asks as she pulls her shirt back on over her bathing suit top.

“Sweatshirt,” Charlie says.

Jen tosses him one of hers. “Just tell her you couldn’t find one right away and you didn’t want her to get cold, so you grabbed this; it was on one of the beds.”

Catching the sweatshirt, Charlie nods. “Thanks.”

Jen sighs and rolls her eyes. “Yeah.”

“I’m sorry, all right?” Charlie asks, running a hand through his hair.

“Just go,” Jen insists, “you’ll get us caught if you don’t hurry.”

Charlie nods. “Yeah, all right. See you later.”

Forcing a smile, Jen nods. “Yeah, later.”

“There’s one,” Marcus says, again with his mouth full.

“Gross,” Jen laughs as she sits down in an empty seat beside him. “Wow, thanks for the dinner, John!” she says quickly, grabbing a few pieces of bread and serving herself some pasta.

“What’s with your hair, Mon Amie?” Marcus asks, raising his eyebrows, “new look?”

Jen looks over at him sharply and her eyes go wide. “Oh, sleep hair,” she replies hastily.

“When’d you take a nap?” Warren asks, reaching for the butter.

“While you guys were playing volleyball, still,” Jen replies easily, taking a bite of her bread.

Locke looks up from his own meal. “How did I miss you? I could’ve used some help setting up the table,” he says almost absently.

“Oh, I, uh...” Jen pauses under the eyes of everyone at the table and shrugs. “I went around; the smell of the food was making me even hungrier and I knew you weren’t done, so I didn’t want to tempt myself,” she says. It’s only partially a lie.

“Sorry, love,” Charlie pants as he slows his run to a jog and holds the sweatshirt out to her.

“It’s all right,” she says slowly, taking it.

“Sorry, I know it isn’t yours...I couldn’t find one...that was just laying out on one of the beds, so I grabbed it; thought you might be getting really cold by now.”

Claire pulls it over her head. “This is Jen’s.”

Charlie shrugs. “All right...?”

“Mine are right in my suitcase, Charlie,” Claire says. She’s thinking of what Sawyer said.

“Do you want me to go back and get one of yours, then? I just didn’t see them and I didn’t want to take too long...” Charlie stammers.

“No,” Claire says quickly. “I’m sure Jen won’t mind.”

“I’m sure you’re right,” he replies with a smile, slipping an arm around her.

“Sawyer came to find us,” Claire mentions casually, “he said dinner’s ready.”

“Is it?” Charlie asks. “You hungry?”

“Not particularly,” Claire says softly, “but if you’re hungry we can go back.”

“Sort of...” Charlie says honestly.

“That’s a nice look, Princess,” Sawyer says as he enters the kitchen from the pool area.

Jen looks up at him and frowns, smoothing her hair slightly. “I took a nap.”

“Did ya?” he asks with a grin as he takes a seat at the table and tucks in, “yeah, I suppose being in the sack’ll do that to ya,” he adds, not looking at her as he butters some bread.

Marcus looks over at Jen and then over at Sawyer. “Jen...?” he whispers.

“What?” she asks at full volume, raising her eyebrows at him, as if to dare him to ask.

“Never mind,” he replies, frowning and digging back into his meal.
