GUH! THE WAY HE WRAPS HIS ARMS AROUND HER! I MUST FLAIL IN CAPSLOCK WITH YOU!!! ♥♥♥!!!

Seriously, why couldn't they have left that in? But thanks so much for the link so I could at least see it! ♥!

Oh, the ending with Donna just broke my heart! *clutches her to me* I wrote up some of my thoughts and theories and speculations and whatnots at my LJ or here's the text part without my two bits of dodgy late-night artwork.

[spoiler:25a43bde8f]Donna

First things first: if Catherine Tate and TPTB ever agreed to bring Donna back, then that memory wipe is fixable. If the memories were permanently gone, then there would be no need for the Doctor to caution Sylvia and Wilf so strongly about not telling her about any of it because "if she remembers, just for a second, she'll burn up." So the memories are still there, just tucked away and hidden from her. But still there. And so Donna, our Donna, the Doctor's Donna, isn't really dead, despite what he said. She's there in the shadows of her own mind and that leaves the possibility for two really good things.

1. I'm still not sure why having a Time Lord consciousness in her head was tied into her memory of the Doctor. Why did forgetting him, the TARDIS and their time together "save" her from being burned up by that Time Lord mind inside of hers? It's obviously still there but so long as she doesn't remember it, it can't hurt her? Why couldn't he just remove her memory of her taking on his consciousness then? Take away a few hours not their entire time together? (Answer: Because Catherine Tate was leaving so Donna had to leave as well. )

Whatever the reason though, you can't tell me that somewhere in his travels, the Doctor couldn't come across some safe way to unlock those memories again without unleashing the Time Lord consciousness that would kill her. The glinting ring while she was on the phone at the end has already been pointed out quite a bit. In fact, much notice has been given to the noticeable big, chunky rings she wore in several episodes, so much so that it was being theorized that the Master's ring was actually hidden underneath it and we were eventually going to find out that she was the Master's next incarnation in some way, shape or form. Well, that ring could also turn out to serve some other purpose if needed in the future, perhaps as something that would act as a "safety net" between her and the consciousness that would kill her. However it could be handled, the main point is that Donna is still alive and where there's life, there's still hope.

2. Like I said, I see the Donna whom we grew to know (and thoroughly love in my case ) from this year as being hidden in the shadows of her mind now. And that, to me, is a HUGE difference between the "Turn Left" Donna who never knew the Doctor at all. So many people have been saying that she would've been better off dead than left to become the "Turn Left" Donna, never fulfilling her vast potential because she never knew she had a vast potential to fulfill. But this Donna isn't in the same position, she has Sylvia and Wilf on her side, who'll hopefully be able to gently urge her in the right directions and she still IS the Donna who made so many changes and became so much more awesome and compassionate and capable than she was from the first moment we met her. The Doctor didn't put something inside of her personality that made her that way, he and their travels together gave all of that wonderfulness a chance to grow. There's no reason why she can't develop that all again. Even the "Turn Left" Donna made that journey to some degree, didn't she? She sacrificed herself to save the world, all without ever meeting the Doctor.

And there are those memories locked inside of her, hidden but still there. I've heard of people with amnesia who never recall certain memories, yet the instinct left by those memories remain even if they never remember the actual events that are connected to them. Something inside Donna knows those things that she can't remember and those instincts will make her the Doctor's Donna again one day, I just feel sure of it.

Now, of course, the part of all of this that's the hardest on me is Donna and the Doctor being separated. That hurts them both in so many ways. They're so much stronger together, so much what each other needs, and for them to have to part just hurts. But we've known this was coming from the very start of this season, we knew there would have to be SOMETHING that happened to take her back out of the show and that he would have to continue on without her. I've been trying to prepare myself for it yet it still broke my fangirl heart. *clings to other Donnafans* My only comfort is to look at Nine, whom I adore, and how despite not being the Doctor for 3 years now, he's still a presence in fandom, through fics and vids and graphics and such. Just not being on the show doesn't make him any less loved by his fans and that's the same for Donna. As much as it hurts for her to not be continuing on the show right now, she'll always live and be beloved in fandom.

Something I was very surprised that was never addressed again was Lee, her "Matrix husband" from 4x09 "Forest of the Dead." We saw that he very clearly was a real person, alive (albeit in the 51st century but that hasn't stopped Jack from hanging out in the 21st century, now has it? ) and that he obviously recognized Donna. I really thought he would be a part of whatever caused her to leave the show. Granted, I doubt fandom would've been any happier if she would've lost her memories of the Doctor but would've had Lee there to presumably get to know/fall in love with but at least that would've been something, wouldn't it? It was just very odd to me that it was left kinda dangling open. :S So I can't help but wonder if that's something that's going to ever be picked up on again someday... I dunno, maybe not. I like my fiction to be neat and tidy but real life is never anywhere close to that. And all too often, they like to make fiction "real," don't they?

Anyway, I'm never saying never that this is the end for Donna and the Doctor. She turned him down once, yet they still found their way to each other again. She's still alive, so there's always hope. And even if this truly is how they're going to leave it, then at least I'll always be glad for s4, which introduced this awesome, brilliant, fantastic woman. And that's something I'll never be sorry for.

Long live Donna Noble, the most important woman in the universe, and her Doctor. ♥

Rose and the human!Doctor

I admit, I *squeed* when that hand regenerated (or whatever you want to call it ) into unexpected!naked!Ten. And since we've also known that Billie Piper wasn't coming back as Rose and so something was going to happen to keep her from traveling on with the Doctor, I had my fingers crossed that she'd at least end up with clone!Doctor. Hey, it's the romantic in me, what can I say? The ultimate happy ending to me would've been Rose and the Doctor, together forever, in tandem with Donna and the Doctor, together forever (I don't ask for much, hm? ). Believe you me, if they would've created a second human!Doctor clone and left him with Donna as well, you can bet your sweet bippy I would've been happy with that. So yes, I can say in one way, I'm happy with the ending with Rose, if just for the fact that she couldn't stay with the Doctor and at least they can have a form of a happy ending, rather than Rose trapped without him again or Rose being killed (which I kinda worried they might do).

That said, I was still initially disappointed that they didn't let us hear him say he loved her. "Does it need saying?" he said, which was an answer in and of itself, wasn't it? But he can't say it to her, whether it's just a Time Lord thing, whether it's just a hang-up he has personally, or whether he knows that it'll make it harder for them to be apart if he's says it now, he just can't say it outright. But it's true, all the same. He loves her.

The look on his face when he watches human!Doctor lean over and whisper in her ear makes me think that the third thing was the biggest part of his reluctance. He's not going to be staying with Rose but the human!him IS. I think he wanted Rose to associate that with the human!Doctor, to make that emotional connection with him. "But it's better than that, though," Donna said. "Don't you see what he's trying to give you?" The Doctor wanted to give Rose something that he never could as a Time Lord, that "one adventure (he) could never have" -- mortality. If they would've just straight-across cloned the Doctor, then he would've also been cursed to outlive Rose, to watch her wither and die, while he lived on unchanging. This is the closest the Doctor could come to being with her in the human sense of forever.

I think it's also why the Doctor didn't kiss her himself. He wants her to transfer those feelings to the human!him who will be staying with her. (And there's also the fact that I think TPTB were trying to kinda walk the line between asexual!Doctor and Rose/Doctor shippiness; this let them split the difference by never having the Time Lord have to commit while the human could and did... ) That said, I still would've liked to see a goodbye kiss between them or even a final hug but, again, I believe this was deliberate on his part, trying to transfer all of those feelings over to the human!him.

I think a lot of what might've made the fandom essplode in great peals of unhappiness with Rose kissing the human!Doctor like that came from the fact that, even though the human!Doctor IS a clone "I look like him, I think like him. Same memories, same everything", a true copy in all ways but for being human instead of Time Lord (and that little bit of Donna-ness that contributed the human DNA ), he was very passive in this scene. He didn't SEEM as much like the Doctor as he maybe should've to really sell it that Rose wasn't so much as settling for a pale imitation but was being given a version of her Doctor she'd never expected to meet. But consider the earlier scenes with Donna and human!Doctor: they clearly interacted as if they both accepted him AS the Doctor for the most part. The only time she questioned that "Just wait for the Doctor" he answered with a definite, "I AM the Doctor." And he is: he's what the Doctor said to Rose at the end, "That's me, when we first met. And you made me better."

And I think that whatever he whispered into her ear was enough that when she looked up at him, she truly believed in that instant that he was her Doctor. I think it was more than just "I love you, too" and maybe that's why they didn't let us hear it. No matter what he would've said, we could've still nit-picked it to pieces as not being Doctor-enough. This way, all we have is Rose's reaction to go by. She was convinced in that instance, I'd say.

Is it as good as having Rose stay with the "real" Doctor? No. But given the real life circumstances, I think it was better than "Oh, sorry, Rose. Mickey can stay in this universe but you can't" or Rose jumping in front of another Dalek to save him and dying in his arms. Or whatever. It's not perfect but it's something, at least.

The Doctor and his Rose, together at last. ♥[/spoiler:25a43bde8f]

Geez, can I ramble or what?

Aw Ais. I agree with pretty much everything.

I am still holding out for a Rose/REAL Doctor reunion, like maybe in the last Doctor Who episode everrr, where The Doctor turns human, (if it can happen to Angel it can happen to The Doctor KAY?!) but I think that really is as good as we could get out of the Rose/Doctor storyline.

And you can totes see that he says "I love you" in Rose's ear if you look at the jaw movement. Oh David. So glad you have such a.. readable jaw

Ooooo, yay! I hope you enjoy it, Nikki! It can be the silly, cheesiest thing ever, then it turns around and hits you with something that's just so full of emotion and heart that you just can't believe it! IMO, anyway... I totally fell in love with Christopher Eccleston's Ninth Doctor (from the first series/season) *looks down at banner* but now I do love David Tennant's Tenth Doctor liek woah as well! *looks over at icon* ♥!
