I have to say, I was kinda expecting this ever since s5 got pushed back an extra year and since RTD is leaving after the 2009 specials but I was still sad for it to be made "official."

I'm, uh, a bit disappointed. He might surprise us all in the end, but there's nothing geeky or special about him, imo

Yeah I saw it today on confidential, I was a bit like WTF when he was shown, but seeing him on there in a few things he was in I'm on the fence about him.

He's been in a show with Billie Piper before but can't remember the name of it It was a victorian program or something

I'm still sceptical because he is so young and too good-looking with his Edward Cullen-haircut. (Not that David Tennant wasn't good looking but Tennant's "true beauty" was his geekiness and his mischievous smile, you know) I hope the writers and Smith will retain the Doctor's geekiness. I don't want the new Doctor to be all about looks

I saw "Smith" and thought, "John Smith? They really did cast a guy as the Doctor whose name is John Smith???"

My first thought on seeing his picture was ZOMGYOUNG! But I'm willing to give him a chance considering how much I really didn't care for Ten in s2 *was still in mourning for Nine for so long* and then now by s4 I absolutely LOVE him (but still am in mourning for Nine, lol! ). So I figure I'll like Eleven a lot more once I see him in action.

I can still hardly believe they're announcing this SO early, though. I mean, David still has all of 2009 to be the Doctor! This makes it feel kinda like they're giving him the boot early!

I liked him from what I saw in the interview! He wasn't all "Yeah, I got the part, get used to it" sort of arrogant or anything (which would've really set the fandom against him! ) and he seemed to be a fan of the show himself, which is always so cool!

That's one of the things I first loved about David, how he's such a fanboy! I'm really going to miss him but I think Matt has the possibility to be a really great Doctor as well. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with the roll, though at the same time, I really hate to think of David being gone! I'm going to miss him, not just as the Doctor, but his total enthusiasm when you saw him in the Confidentials or in his video diaries! You've probably seen this but it always makes me laugh, even though it's short. Cake, woo-HOOO!

So how are you feeling about Matt these days? ♥!

I know what you mean! I'm eager to see how everything is going to happen but at the same time I'm so sorry to see the last of David Tennant. And I suspect that Ten is going to have a totally angsty, tear-your-heart-out, bawl-you-eyes-out last few moments! But I'm anxious and curious to see how Matt Smith is going to do at the same time! Hopefully once all of the angsty things are over and everybody's had the chance to have a proper cry over Ten being gone, then we can enjoy Eleven! *crosses fingers*
