No problem! I just wanted to make sure I was understanding correctly! You're actually going to need Steph's Masking tutorial to be able to do it. Unless you happen to have Sony Vegas Movie Studio (like I do) which isn't able to do the masking, sad to say.

You can do something similar by using cookie cutter and just trimming it in as close as you can, but it's not as precise as the mask, I'm afraid.

You might want to put the effect on the clip first, then mask it. Not sure if it will matter one way or the other but by doing the effect first, you'll be able to see exactly what it looks like before you mask it out. Oh, and you're quite welcome! Good luck!

I found a REALLY neat trick.

I know some folks have trouble with VEGAS 6.0 and getting stuck in building peaks mode! You can TURN OFF the automatically building peaks.

OPTIONS > PREFERENCES

Under the GENERAL tab, check the box about 3/4 down the list that says "build peaks for visible events only." Click okay and the next time you import, it won't load peaks for the AVI automatically.

I'm ASSUMING that once you go to put something from that file in the timeline, that as long as you select video only, the peaks will never attempt to build for that episode/movie item.

I'll test that theory now.

Well, when I opened the ep in the trimmer, it started building peaks anyway.

So much for that theory. I wonder if there's a way to turn off the audio portion in the trimmer...

hmmm...

What 'visible events only' means is that it WILL start building peaks, until you cancel it. Then if you delete the audio it won't try to build the peaks every time you open Vegas.

Blue logo? Like, it puts a logo on things when you use the chroma keyer blue screen effect? (Sorry, I'm having a blonde moment here... )
