Would it be okay to use Shaun of the Dead? I know it's a horror/comedy, but I'd make it all horror
or i might do the 6th sense... ARG there are too many choices!! |

We'll get back to you on that Sorry for the wait. It is a tricky one because in my opinion it does seem more of a comedy than horror. |

Does Donnie Darko count as a horror film? I'm not sure what the genre is of the movie (lol!)
Also, can you use more than one horror movie? Can you use some of the audio from the movie? |

I know you said something about no trailers, but out of curiosity (I'm not doing one, just wondering), are original trailers alright? I wasn't sure if you meant you didn't want us to take movie trailers and just put Lost clips over the audio, or you just didn't want us to make trailers at all. Like, if I made a crossover for Lost and The Ring, can it be in trailer form? _________________

Back on page 2, 3, and 4 we talk about why no trailers the main reason is because we're after crossover videos, not trailers. We don't want them for this particular contest _________________

Okay, I'm confused. All of a sudden I'm hearing that we're not allowed to enter trailers (even original ones), but there's nothing in the write up that mentions them except where it says we can use them for footage.
At the risk of offending people, the rules really need to be more specific if you want people to follow them. I'm almost done with my video, based on the information that was released at the beginning of the month, so it's a little upsetting to find out that it may no longer qualify due to something that was decided later.
I don't check this thread regularly because I assume that everything we need to know to enter is on the contest page.
Oh and on other thing: I don't really see how "trailer" and "crossover" are mutually exclusive. You can't have a crossover trailer?

Oh ok... but I'm still not sure I understand. I'm really not meaning to be a bother, so please don't think I'm just trying to be annoying or something, but trailers can be legitimate crossovers, can't they? If there are Lost and The Ring clips and the trailer is about Kate being chased by Samara, that's still a crossover, it just doesn't happen to be in regular music video form, and it can also be in the proper time limits. I guess I'm just confused by the wording. Maybe you should have said no trailers in the original first page, because it's hard to tell what's allowed and what's not, cuz the contest rules are getting really specific lately. _________________

It is in the contest rules:

The Rules
Specific Contest Rules:
• - Create a Crossover video (no trailers, please, we're looking for full videos) with Lost and a Horror movie.
• - No Horror Television shows, must be at least half Lost footage.
• - Running time should be no longer than 5 minutes. We suggest the 3 - 5 minute range.
• -The more creative, the better. Don't be afraid to take risks.
• -When entering your video on the Submit page, you MUST enter "October 2009 contest submission" exactly in your vid's description. |

hehe Samara and I had the same questions and thoughts. xD I agree, I believe that trailers can be crossovers. I believe you have had trailers with crossover pairings, Kat. It's still labeled as a trailer though. Does that make sense, or am I just being really dumb about something obvious? lol _________________

Weird! I just looked at that a few minutes ago and that wasn't there. It just said "Create A Crossover video with Lost and a Horror movie". Maybe I missed it, but it for sure wasn't there at the beginning of the month when everyone first read through the rules. _________________
