Ironically, there are a lot of very pretty ocean shots when Desmond goes out to whack Kelvin in his S2 2-parter.

It is hard about ocean shots. Even though there in there all the time, a lot of the times they really are not apart of any of the 'clips'.

My favorite ocean shot is the one where Jack is starring out into the ocean in the pilot and Kate comes up to him. All you see is the water, it was beautiful.

Is that the one with the slow, right-to-left pan (presumably from Jack's POV)? If so, I'll second the recommendation; that was really nice.

Is there a scene showing an Oceanic plane taking off in daylight?

I know there's one landing in daylight in one of Locke's episodes (well, it's in the process of landing when it flies over his head), and the one taking off at night over Jack's head in the "we have to go baaaack" scene. There's Ajira taking off in 316 and Oceanic landing in LA X.

But, what I need is Oceanic taking off in daylight. I might have to make due with Ajira but I thought I'd ask.

Could you reverse the shot of Oceanic landing at LAX? I'm not sure, given the actual clip, if that would work, but to try it out in Vegas: Load the clip into your timeline, right-click on it, and reverse.

Nah, I don't think that'll work, because I think it'll just make the plane look like it's flying backward. Thanks for the thought, though.

Can anyone think of any shots of Sayid sitting alone on the beach, preferably looking out toward the water? (Other than the one where he's looking at Nadia's picture, that is...)

OK, Nadia's picture is a dead giveaway.

Also try the pilot, where Sayid is talking with Hurley and tells him he's in the Republican Guard--I think Sayid is the first one sitting there.

He's not sitting, but he's walking away slowly on the beach at the end of 'Confidence Man' (after his chat with Kate, when he tells her he has to go away); that's a good 'alone' shot anyway (and nice with the cinematography).

I bet you'd get some good stuff right after 'Abandoned' outside of the radio transceiver shtick, too--look in 'Collision' and the start of 'One of Them' (when he's performing ablutions, before Danielle comes up and tells him they've caught "Henry".)

You could fake the shots from when Sayid comes to chat with Charlie and tell Charlie he's not alone into being 'alone' shots too; there are a good amount of reaction shots of Sayid alone with the water in the distance.
