Okay, I have to get this off my chest 'cause it's bothering me. And I'm not bashing anyone because I'm not biased, I don't even care for the triangle anymore but...seriously, I feel sorta bad for the Jaters. And I know there's been some bashing in the episode's thread and now it's kind of sorted but it's still a little unfair. I was on LJ and you won't believe how many icons there are that bash Jate. There's some really horrible icons of Jate, then some really pretty ones done by the same person of Skate. Is that really necessary? I don't remember anything like this happening when there was Skate action going on in the show and please remember I'm not attacking skaters in any way, it's just what I've seen. It's just some people, not everyone. I just don't think it's fair! I don't even know why it's bothering me so much! Just needed to vent though. I don't want to offend anyone!

Yeah Jemma, I see what you mean.
But I've also read on other places the Jaters bashing the skaters, and then vice versa. I just think why do people take it to these lengths. Here's a couple of comments I've read

When I mean I love Skate to bits, but I would never get to the point where I'm bashing Jaters. There's time where Jack and Kate do go well together, and as a Skater it's pretty obvious that Jate is gonna come out on top but here's hoping lol.

When I mean it's coming from both sides, and okay the whole 'Jate/Skate' thing is a big thing in the show, but if you are a fan (no offsense) of the show, it's not just about who ends up with who. There are also other parts to the show.

They're just my views anyway, but Jemma I see where you're coming from and it's just getting ridiculous the amount of bashing that's going on in forums, LJ, blogs. It's a bit pathetic if you ask me

Don't feel too bad, it's goes both ways. Nah, I'm just kidding, but it really does, and it's sad....but it's not like it's just one sided, like Charlie pointed out.

lol That last one amuses me. So anyway, Skaters can be mean, Jaters can be mean too...it's the way it goes, and it gets out of hand sometimes, which is annoying...but there's not much need to feel bad for one side in particular. It just sucks that people actually start insultin gother ships rather than just debating them!

Well, I don't really care who Kate ends up with it's just that the icons made were really harsh and I don't remember any skate bashing icons being posted. And it just seems unfair. There was an icon made of Jate arguing and then some really mean stuff on there. I had no idea the triangle caused such conflict. I knew it did, but I wasn't prepared to see the comments that were made. I guess it made me upset that the show is causing such a conflict between the fans, and that viewers feel it's necessary to do such things. In my opinion, I guess I can't understand why it's so important for Kate to be with Jack or Sawyer. I wouldn't care so much if Charlie wasn't with Claire, just as long as he was still alive and still had a part in the show.

But I agree, it is pathetic to make mean comments and bash other characters like that. I know I have issues with some characters sometimes, but I wouldn't make icons with a ship on and put something really rude or offensive on it or whatever. =\

Yeah I hear where you are coming from...I just don't get it either...It seems like a waste of energy to actually make icons to bash Jate...I mean c'mon! Life is to short...just relax people! I just try to ignore all the ship bashing b/c it tends to bother me too. I think I may stop reading the episode reviews b/c I always get annoyed with people either upset about the show or upset about characters or a ship or the writing...its always something and it just puts me in a bad mood. So yeah...I'm officially done with posting and reading in the episode threads.

For some reason, I like reading through the episode's thread even when I disagree with what's being said in it. I've never liked character or ship bashing particularly and I just think in this case, the comments/icons were not only offending the show it was offending the fans too. I think you should still post your opinion and what you think of the eps, Nikki because you should still be able to! I know everyone has different opinions on what happens and that's fair enough. We should probably accept if someone has a problem with something, but the bashing and stuff on the icons was just going a little too far.

It just bothers me sometimes when I read a lot of negative stuff about an episode and so It makes me wonder why I even read it. haha but I just posted in there again b/c I had to put my two cents in about everyone harping on kate for being domesticated like its just sooo awful. I take offense to that.

Oh my God, that's awful! I can't believe people bash each other for being Jaters or Skaters! It's just a TV show! Wow, I didn't realize how bad that was. It's gone way beyond character bashing to bashing the FANS of the characters. (Not on here, but the stuff Sassy posted from whatever site). How sad.

Yeah it really has gone past now not liking the 'rival' ship, now it's personal comments are being made to people and it's like we're all meant to be fans of this one show, and just because someone doesn't have the same views as you on something, or the same views on a character or a ship hurtful comments are being made.

Oh, I saw (and still do see) some terrible Skate bashing icons on LJ! And some of the things I've read are just horrifying! People calling Skaters stupid and saying we all have STDs are some of the nicer ones I remember... (Obviously none of this was on LVI! Which is one reason why I stopped going to other Lost sites because even when we disagree here, it never gets to that kind of vicious! ) It actually almost made me cry a couple of times until I thought, "You know, I've got to get this back in perspective, that this is just a TV show and these are just fictional characters and just because some mean person is saying bad things about ME because of the characters I like, that doesn't mean it's true or that I'm stupid for liking the characters I like."

Some people have definitely taken it far beyond even character-bashing to outright FAN-bashing! That's just awful! I don't care if you're a Jater, Skater or whatever, nobody deserves to be slammed and ridiculed for it!

Aw Ais, that's awful! *hugs* Yeah, I agree it does seem to be coming from both sides and it's just terrible that it's turned in to fan bashing now! I'm sorry that you got offended, as with anyone else who has gotten upset over this! I think that's horrible. People should be more mature!

Thats awful Ais! You know what always bothered me and still does is when Jaters say that the cage sex was dirty and disgusting and only happened b/c she thought he was going to die I think if it were flipped and it was Jack the Jaters wouldn't be saying it was dirty and gross. I think both the Jate and Skate relationships are beautiful in different ways and thats why I love them both! I just tend to lean more towards the ship that we are getting more scenes from...in this case Jate.

Hehe I totally agree, thats exactly what I end up doing! I'm just so indecisive...when theres loads of Skate scenes I think "Yeah, I totally love the Skate ship" but then when we get loads of Jate scenes it's "Awww, but they're just so cute" I'm a bit of a disgrace to both parties lol

I think it's a bit sad and pathetic when people get so worked up and agressive about it all...at the end of the day it's just a TV show, they shouldn't be so mean!
