The Details
We’ve all seen many, many vids about Jack. About Kate. About Sawyer. Sometimes it gets a little tiring to see another vid about Charlie’s drug addiction or Locke being thrown out a window. What about our other Losties, the ones that have been around since the beginning? Where’s the love for them in the world of vidding?

That’s what we want to see for this contest! Boone, Hurley, Jin, Michael, Sayid, Shannon, Sun, Walt, and even Vincent, have been hanging around since season 1, just waiting for some incredible vids about them to be made! We’d like to see some character studies of these characters. And not something simple, such as “Sayid was a soldier”, or “Walt’s a kid”. Look deep into these characters and show what makes them interesting.

The Rules

Specific Contest Rules:
• -Videos must be about the "lesser-vidded" characters from Season 1 (Boone, Hurley, Jin, Michael, Sayid, Shannon, Sun, Vincent, or Walt).
• -The more creative, the better. Don't be afraid to take risks.
• -Running time should be no longer than 5 minutes. We suggest the 3 - 5 minute range.
• -When entering your video on the Submit page, you MUST enter "August 2007 contest submission" exactly in your vid's Description.

General Contest Rules:

• -Contest submissions should be entered through the Submit page
• -All regular submissions Rules apply.
• -Only one entry per vidder
• -Videos already submitted and RELEVANT can be submitted again, but we would rather see something fresh. (Please contact a CM if you wish to enter a previously-submitted video)
• -Please do not use Megaupload, Rapidshare or Yousendit to host your files.
• -Keep in mind that however you choose to host your video, it must be available for download at least until the end of the month. If we can not access your video at the time of judgment it will not be considered.
• -Have fun!

Great! Just a question: Would a ship video/video exploring Shannon and Boone's relationship together count? Or isn't that really a character study. I just thought considering they are both huge parts of the other's storyline.

Okay... I'm making a Boone vid. You guys are killing me with these contests that I just HAVE to enter!!!!!! Plus... I love working with season one footage, and now that I have an external hard drive, I totally have space for all of the episodes.

Hold onto your knickers, Jen. If I find the right song, this'll be a good one.

Otherwise, I might just enter my Shannon character-study

hmmmm i really want to do this contest. Ive had a Michael idea in the back of my head for a while now, but the only thing is, i might be too busy this month. My cousin is comming on the 17th and i start college on the 28th, and i STILLL havnt finished my vid im currently working on. Grr! well ill try to do it, if not good luck everyone else!

Not so much "lesser known" as "lesser vidded" lol. Ana Lucia has more vids than any of the others - which is ironic since she's been around half the time (or less) than the rest of them.
As for Paulo and Nikki - I think we're going main characters.

But we'll ponder that all for a bit and get back to you!

We're done pondering! We'd like the focus to be on Season 1 characters who haven't been vidded very often. Several Season 2 and 3 characters already have a lot more vids than some of the ones who have been here since Day 1, so we're hoping to see them get some "character study love" at long last!

It's kind of a tricky thing since obviously they're both going to figure into each other's character studies. But technically, if the vid is about their relationship, then that really makes it a shipper vid more than a character study. So it's not so much that you can't see how their relationship affected one or the other of them, but the focus should be on either Shannon or Boone rather than on Shoone to fit the rules of this particular contest, if that makes sense?

Agreed. It is sooo difficult though to find song that suit him, isn't it? I'm looking forward to seeing some Michael character studies. There are only so few of them. I hope we'll get some....

Yeah, Sayid songs are soo hard to come up with! I'm considering doing a Michael vid, if I can edit the song enough to work for him...
