Gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised by how this turned out. But they won't make me like Juliet. Sorry love but your sob story doesn't justify what you've done. BUT she shot Pickett, and that's good with me, was one of the best moments, even if it was her.
Watching Sawyer beat on him was good, though the "getaway" was unrealistic as I suspected. At least Kate added a little with the rifle butt to the face and threatening to shoot that guy in the knee. But Juliet telling Alex to stay? Why?

Jack was cool, because he didn't change and suddenly go all meek and do it, though could've had a cool line when he asked if Ben was in pain. The way he was taunting Tom was brilliant

And at least Kate and Sawyer escaped. Now we have nothing but Jack and Juliet though *sigh*

i just still don't see how Ben could be Alex's father (i don't think real)

cause if thats the case Rousseau must have not been right in the head
but then who's to say Alex is Rousseau's alex her surname has never been revealed? well i don't remember it if it has

Back to the ben/Alex thing I reckon that when Alex was taken cause she was only a week old she was made to believe that Ben was her father for all her life

if anyone has any other theories?

My whole thing is that it's a bit silly to say that things are merely "just friends" between Jack/Kate OR Sawyer/Kate. (I TOTALLY just typed "Jack/Sawyer" there at first. Heheh.) Both of those relationships are obviously a bit deeper than friendship. I'm sure most people, non-shippers and shippers alike can agree with me there.

And I certainly didn't get how anyone could get a "just friends" vibe from that walkie conversation specifically. Taking the scene itself alone or in the context of the story.

That was basically the entire point of my post, not a full-on Jate vs. Skate throwdown.

I actually had written a long post (What? You're shocked I wrote a long post, aren't you? I can feel it from here... ) but I decided not to post it because, by the time I was done writing it, most of the posts were saying, "Well, let's move on to something other than Jate v. Skate" and I would've looked like a big moron!

However, something has bugged me since then...

I certainly believe that Kate cares for Jack but, as for right this moment in the story, I believe that she loves Sawyer. To me, I see Kate looking at Jack as the guy she used to have a crush on but nothing ever really came of it. So now there's all these feelings of a sort of nostalgia "could've been" affection swirled into the mix. Believe me, "what could've been" is powerful stuff! Much more powerful than "oh yeah, we dated for a while then had a hideous break-up." I believe it's spurring her to rescue him just as much as the fact that she now owes him for engineering their escape. But wanting to see him get away from Ben and Friends doesn't automatically mean, "So therefore I have actually chosen him!"

Again, an interesting exercise, IMO... Reverse Jack and Sawyer's positions but keep all of the dialogue and actions the same. Kate and Jack are escaping; she talks to Sawyer on the walkie-talkie, then leaves with Jack. What would Jaters be saying about that? That she actually loves Sawyer? Of course not! It's all about perspective and seeing what you want to see.

Something I'd honestly like to know? Do you, as a Jater, believe that Kate is with (in the romantic sense ) Sawyer at this point in the show? I'm not asking if you like it or all of the ways you think it's wrong or how it's going to change in the near future. I mean, honestly, do you really think she hasn't, for this moment in time at least, decided to be with Sawyer?

I guess what puzzles me the most is that I feel like Jaters are basically blowing off the things that are happening in the show simply because it isn't what they want to see... Believe me, I understand that totally! But I was prepared for this to swing the other way in the middle of all of the "Who is Kate gonna choose?????" hype and, as much as I would've been sad and disappointed to see Kate ride off into the sunset (for now -- happy couples don't make compelling TV which is why the Law of Romances on TV states that couples only get to have happy "endings" at the very end of a series! ) with Jack, I wouldn't have tried to tell Jaters that they were mistaken, Kate had actually picked Sawyer. But I really feel like that's what Jaters are telling me.

Hope this makes sense! I'm certainly not telling anybody that they shouldn't be for Jate or hope for Jate in the future or even that they shouldn't believe in Jate right now. And I'm definitely not saying that Jaters should be throwing Skaters a party or anything! It's just tough when all a Skater ever seems to hear (I'm not talking about on other boards or when we wander into Jater threads, of course; I'm talking about here in "general" threads like this one) is how clearly we're mistaken, Kate is NOT with Sawyer.

And of course the bottom line is I don't care WHAT ship seems to be "winning" right now, it won't last! (See the Law of Romances on TV... ) If you've ever watched a soap opera for very long, then you know that they break the couples up, put them with other people, break them up, over and over and over again! *sigh* That's why I stopped watching soaps!

As a Jater I am willing to admit that Kate does have feelings for both Jack and Sawyer.
We're not trying to tell you that your Skater opinions are wrong, we just have a differnce in opinion.

I do think that in the last episode in that moment in the cages, she did choose Sawyer! But I think that she may now be changing her mind, although I could be wrong! And like you said in all TV shows and Soap Operas these things always change.
Nobody can know for sure Kate's feelings and who she'll really end up with. Although as a Jater I do hope it's Jack!

As for the walkie scene I agree with KC on this one. I didn't get a 'just friends' vibe from it.
I know what you are saying about if Jack and Sawyer had have been in opposite places.
And if that had have been the case, then maybe a similar thing would have happened! And if it had would you have thought that it was a 'just friends' thing???

When yeah its totally obvious that kate has feelings for both sawyer and jack, and in the promo for next weeks epi she says 'I owe him that' when she goes on about rescuing Jack which sounds to me that because he helped her and Sawyer escape she wants to repay him back by rescuing him.

I think we could keep this going on til the show finishes about the whole skate/jate debate and who she should choose and we will all have our opinions. Even when she made a choice in 'I Do' people were still sceptical about it then, some people will say its only because she thought that sawyer was gonna die (i have read that opinion from somewhere a while ago) and now the producers tell us that the triangle is far from over people hope that kate will change her mind and go to jack.

I think that if she keeps changing her mind and going from one man to the other it will completely wreck her character and it will get boring and annoying.
