Thanks, Macaila! (And sorry for the delay; I've been lurking as of late, particularly with Thanksgiving.)
That was an interesting video.I don't see many Sayid vids about him trying to decide between Shannon and Nadia. The song was a perfect fit for Sayid.
Lostwithoutdom: Thanks as well! Good to know it worked!
Kate ^ 2: Thanks for letting me know the freeze-frames worked and for noticing the overlays--I needed some sort of a build towards the end, and thought they'd turn out well, considering I'd only used one (more subtle) overlay previously in the video. It was a pain and a half clipping out moving people, though!
Aw, really wonderful job! Your beat use and editing were super creative and awesome, I liked the freeze frames, I love using them in my vids, they always turn out really cool looking, and in this vid they looked really cool to those beats in the song!! I loved your overlays/split screens near the end, they looked great! Terrfiic job with Sayid in this video, I really enjoyed this!
Out of curiosity, are you listening on a laptop or a desktop?
Ahh yeah
What a fun vid! Great job with the beat use and the editing was really great. I really enjoyed this. I do agree with emma though, it was a little hard for me to hear the audio in the beginning, but i still really liked watching this! Good luck!
Emma: Thanks for the kind comments! Glad you thought the freeze-frames worked.
Out of curiosity, are you listening on a laptop or a desktop? (I'm not saying you're wrong, just curious which, since I think that's the source of the quibble.) Since I vid on a laptop, my vidding (and vid-watching) experience is slightly different than most, in that my monitor is lower-contrast than some people's and, obviously, the speakers are different--they tend to reduce background noise, and so I expect the sound of the quote comes through better (if tinnier) on my laptop than it does on your desktop, if indeed you're using a desktop.
This was so fab Kate!!
Hee. Thanks, Mel; glad you enjoyed it (and if you want to see darker-mood Sayid in my stuff, check out Mohammed's Radio, which isn't entirely dark but isn't as lightweight, and Prison Grove, which is pretty unremittingly dark (though roughly made--it was one of my first videos.) My Back Pages might be worth a whirl too, although it's lighter. Worth a shot recommending these anyway. ETA: And Fanatic Heart, which I can't believe I overlooked--it's probably the most appropriate song I've ever found for Sayid.)
Good to know the song won you over; it is upbeat but I think it's not too upbeat, and it's still kind of tinged with sadness/wistfulness despite the upbeat mood of it. As far as the ending, well.... can't help you there! (With the video or with the show, haha.) Thanks for letting me know the effects worked too; I was a bit uncertain how to achieve the stop-motion on the 'oh-oh-oh-oh's that I wanted, but I think I got them how I wanted.
Where did my last post go?
Well here we go again, I liked this Video very much, as i told you last night via PM. I dont know if its the setting, the ship or the song. I just enjoyed it overall.
When I first started watching the vid i felt that the song was abit too happy for a tragic character like sayid but then i really started getting into the whole thing and i loved how you showed the Shayid and Nayid story parallel.
But no seriously i really liked this video. The effects you choose were beautiful and i liked the colouring. The stills at the beginning of the vid were pretty damn cool aswell.
