Thanks, Kate! Yeah, talking clips are one of my pet peeves, too. Although sometimes they're unavoidable. Credit clips, too, because sometimes you can't zoom in past them without losing what you need in the scene. But, I totally agree with you that those things should be avoided if possible. I'm glad you enjoyed the dark humor, though! Thank you so much for your thoughts!

    Hey there! Per request:

I like dark comedy! You know this well. I think that worked on that front, and although it's not everyone's taste in humor, it is mine. I think you could've gone even a little darker with some of the lines where it gets shippy, but this is speaking as someone who's made the British humor class read satires about World War Two and is having them read Jonathan Swift's 'A Modest Proposal' the week after next. My taste may not be everyone's.

A couple of technical issues (credits clips/talking clips) that you can probably spot a mile away now, too.

Since you asked for detailed thoughts: I think another reason ISLRN might've turned away in the middle is also a song choice thing: Lack of pulsing rhythm through either drums or rhythm guitar. I don't know the song (although I know the artists), so couldn't get a sense of where the song was headed, so that could lend to the random feel. It also makes it harder to edit to a beat, since obviously there isn't one.

I liked the plane wing falling with the 'whoa-oh-oh.' 'Good luck walks' (Hurley) 'and bullshit flies' (Ben) was great as well. Last shot with Locke falling on his ass was worth a chuckle.

Thanks! Yeah, IamSoLost had some really great advice... I'm still not sure what I would do differently now, but I "get it" at least. I'm glad you found it funny anyway!

LOL to "Chasing the sun" with Sun, the character, walking away...and Des drinking for the "another bender.." I like funny. Funny is good! I do however see what IamSoLostRightNow said...it's a little "show and tell/literal."

That's great advice, thank you!!! I will definitely check out the video you recommended, too. I really appreciate your tips!

Hey, I think I started to watch this video awhile ago, but I think I stopped in the middle. I think a huge part of it is song choice. It's fine that you like it and you can make it go with the show with very literal lyric interpretation, but I just didn't like the song. You don't have to pick all popular songs or whatever. I just personally didn't like it and didn't want to sit there for three mins. Not too constructive, I know, but that being said you can sometimes make these songs work (I've done my share of peculiar songs).

You're video actually wasn't so bad. It was cute and the lyrics of course followed very closely with the footage. Your beat use was also fine. I did not mind the lack of effects. effects aren't that important anyway.

What I think your video was lacking was a special type of feeling. You basically just matched clips to the song, but I didn't get any sense of any over arching message that the island is darkly humorous. I'm not really too sure what you could have done to make that better. Maybe better facial reaction shots of the cast (does that make sense?)???

Take a look at Cylune's (a former council member's) vid for Shiny Happy People It's pretty literal too, but EXTREMELY ironic. It just works.

I'm looking for some constructive criticism now if anyone has any. I'm new at this so I'm hoping to learn what I did wrong here so I can correct it in future videos.

    Thanks in advance!
