Um, so...I have a new OTP and only one of them is from Lost...so, if I was to give a crossover vid a whirl, would it be welcome here, or is that kind of frowned upon?

Excellent question mistojen! Well we do allow crossovers as long as the majority of footage is from Lost and it is within the Lost universe eg. if you had Sawyer and Alex turning up in the Buffy universe with vampires and demons and stuff that would be a no no but if you had Buffy wash up on the island that would be fine.

Even if you go against my advice we will probably put it through it just isn't likely to get a CP. I <3 crossover vids by the way so I'll look forward to what you come up with.

Ok, well...I'll test the idea, then, before I do it, because, to be honest, making vids is fun and it kills boredom REALLY well, but, the biggest reason that I do it is for the feedback, so...if it's not likely to be put through or watched by anyone, then I'll probably not put the work into it (I have a feeling it's going to take a LOT of work to put together...if I can find a song to use, even...)

My idea is that George from Dead Like Me has Shannon as a last reap, thus making Shannon the new Reaper. The pairing would be Shannon/Mason, and Mason would accompany her to the island to take the souls of doomed Losties. That's the idea, but I've yet to put a defined theme on it, so finding a song is out of the question for right now. Would that be a vid that can be posted or...no?

Hmm I'm not sure. I love the idea though. Dead like me! I just watched that show all the way through recently. So I defintely don't want to deter you from doing it. It will be put through regardless sorry for suggesting otherwise it just might be automatically ignored for a CP if it has too much footage from the other show in.

Yeah I JUST finished today, watching the ending of the second season--saw like ten minutes of it on Sci-Fi and had to run to Blockbuster and get all the DVDs to see what it was all about. Shannon and Mason are my new OTP. To be honest, I never get a CP, anyway, because my vids are still really amateur, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if this one didn't either but I've been thinking about giving it a shot, so...at least maybe ONE person will watch it, then...?

Daisy and Shannon are pretty similar so I could defintely see Mason going after Shannon. I will watch this for sure

Mistojen, I'd definitely look out for that as well.

Like Paul said, Shannon and Daisy are both very similar so I could see Mason going after her. I think that's a very interesting idea!

Also, I don't think you exactly NEED a song. I remember watching an old vid where Mason was assigned to reap Locke and that vidder just matched up audio from Dead Like Me and audio from Lost to make it seem as if they were having a conversation. That could be another you could use.

In any case, make the vid! Do it! Do it! Do it!

Errr, sorry. Pay no mind to me. Though, I really do encourage you to try it.

Whoa! Where's that vid?! I'm not real good with editing audio, though...therein lies my problem. I've only got four completed vids under my belt and I'm still feeling my way around WMM (I dont even have WMM2 so, somehow I think it might be even harder for me...)

I made a Sliders/Lost crossover a while back that never got a CP. I still had fun with it though so you should do it! One other thing you might want to look out for is telling a story but you seem to have a good idea of what is going to happen. Mine didn't have much of a story.

Here's where it was but I just checked the link and it's no longer valid...

http://lostvideo.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=1365

BA hasn't been around LVI in quite a while but maybe we can get ahold of her and see if she'll re-up the link?

I personally think your vid sounds really cool, Jen! I'd love to see it!

My personal take on our "must focus on Lost" rule is that as long as a Lost character or location is still the main part of the vid, then it's fine to send to us. We just don't want a vid that is mainly another fandom in their own world, then with maybe just a couple of shots of Charlie and Claire, then back to the other fandom, since it really doesn't have much to do with Lost. If that makes sense...

Anyway, you never know how it'll come out unless you take a crack at it! Hope you'll give it a try!

All right...so...would Hell (In The Afterlife) by the Squirrel Nut Zippers be way too cliche to be interesting enough to use...?

It depends. Do you want your vid to be headed in an angsty or silly humor direction? Personally, I love that song, but I'm not sure if it'd work out for your vid.

Also, keep in mind that it isn't purely based on Dead Like Me so many people won't even have seen the show and won't have idea that Hell was one of the songs from the show. It won't be cliche to them! You can keep it your little secret!

Yeah, I don't know, either...but it's worth a try for now, and if it doesn't work, I'll chalk it up to a failed first crossover. I'm going to try to make it work, though. I've got it started...up to the point where Shannon's been reaped, and then I've got to go clip hunting for the rest. Here's hoping for the best...

My 2 Cents: if the vid is good, it will get a CP, regardless of rules and such. But the thing is, we're judges for Lost. We know the footage front and back, we know what skilled vidders can do with it, and thus we can judge fairly on it. A vid that has very little Lost footage falls out of our area of expertise and thus it gets in a touchy area where we can't really be sure if we're judging fairly or not (it could go either way this way though). However, this means an unfair outcome for the vidder in question, so we'd rather vids try to keep their focus on Lost.

But by focus, I mean the vids should try and be central to the Lost Universe, like by the sounds of it, yours would be . This is to try and discourage vids that aren't really about Lost, like a vid showcasing someone's favourite couples from all their favourite TV Shows, with about 20 seconds of Lost, showing up (which has kinda happened). I hope you understand.

That all said, I think a good crossover can be awesome, as it adds some nice new twist to the story, and gives some originality. So go ahead with this, we'll be looking forward to it!

Thanks, Hobbes! I'm currently putting a little something together. There will be as little Dead Like Me footage as I can manage with keeping the story in tact. I've got the first ten or fifteen seconds leading up to the character George reaping Shannon and then I'll be using as little DLM as I can as the character Mason guides Shannon through her reaps on the Island. I hope it isn't total crap when I'm done, since I'm still really new at all this and this is the first time I'm trying to do a crossover. It's hard as hell already!

I appreciate everyone's support in me giving this a shot. Here's hoping! *fingers crossed*

PS to those on the Council...thanks for my very first CP on Superbleeder! Glad my little brother talked me into submitting it, because I didn't think anyone would even WATCH it, let alone give it a CP. Thanks thanks thanks thanks THANKS!!!
