That was awesome!

I've always thought that Locke was by far the most interesting character on the show.

Great vid. My only qualm would be the size of the video (40meg) I think its cause you used mpeg. Try 512 WMV next time if you can. It would go down to about 15 meg and still be the same quality. Also the quality of the clips was it from your vhs? It looked a little funky. It was very creepy and cool though I love 30 seconds to Mars and it was perfect for Locke.

Thanks for the criticism and advice! The reason it's not too good quality is because I could never (and still can't) find out how to download the episodes on my computer, but I didn't want to give up on the great idea I had so I ended up pointing my digital movie camera at the TV and playing episodes from the Lost DVD. That way I uploaded my camera to the computer, and also my editing software renders every clip I make in a small file size. I can't figure out how to make the size bigger.

Thanks for all your replies so far! I hope sometime to make another, better one once I figure out stuff.

This website doesn't work for me. All of the links to the episodes are expired.

I'm going to download and watch this but for your vid clip problem...

If you have the Lost Season 1 DVD you can rip the clips from your DVD's and get fantastic quality for your vids. All you need is a program called DVD Shrink. Google the name and I'm sure you'll find it. Then after finding clips you like/need just back it up to your PC desktop and you will have somefilename.VOB find the largest one and rename it to somefilename.mpg and voila! You have a clip that can be edited.

I'll be back later with comments on your vid.

ETA:

I just finished viewing your vid and have to say the picture quality for the majority of the vid is quite good. I also have to give you credit for not having any bounces/noticible change in position for your Digicam from the screen.

I liked your idea here and only the knife through the seatback scene seemed a little out of pace with the song. Great first vid. When you've sussed out the problem gathering vid clips I think you will have great creations.

Ah, dang! I'm too late for the link... Can you put it in someplace like Picapic or Rapidshare that will keep it more "permanently" than YSI? I hate to have to ask you to upload it again just to have it expire on you in 7 days...

But a YSI link would still be appreciated, if nothing else! Thanks!

Thanks so much for the new link to your vid!

I wasn't sure what this was going to look like after reading how you got your footage by recording it off the TV with a digital camcorder. And I've gotta say, I was amazed at how well it came out! I mean, truly, if I hadn't known that, I would've just thought you had put some beautiful effect on the footage that was giving it a different depth of color or something!

I thought the song was an excellent choice for Locke! "The Hunter" is such an appropriate description for him, after all!

I really liked the part right at the beginning when Jack sees Ghost Dad out in the ocean, then he disappears and Jack takes off running. Then we see him talking to Locke and it made it seem like Jack had gone to him for advice or reassurance. Cool! Since Jack and Locke are SO adversarial in the show now, I liked that twist!

I also really liked the ending shot of Locke looking conflicted. Since the theme was sorta the struggle between his dark and light sides (so to speak ), I thought it left it on a nice note, like he's still caught in the middle of that struggle.

I really commend you for all the trouble you had to go through to get the footage to even make a vid. Until recently, I've been trapped on dial-up and had to just get bits and pieces of eps from a couple of sites and from some generous vidding friends. So all of your work means a lot to me, because I know what it's like to not just have all of the eps at hand, just waiting to be used as footage. I know what it's like to have to fight to get the material you need! So, again, I commend you for coming up with a creative way that really worked. The footage just came out particularly beautiful!

I'm so glad I got the chance to see this at last! Thanks again!
