Has anyone else had trouble with videos they've uploaded lately being totally screwed up by Youtube? I have a couple of YT friends whose video quality was badly pixelated. My newest video that I uploaded (and submitted here) has been badly pixelated.

I was just wondering if anyone else had found that they were having the same issue? If so, do you render your vids in HD? Me and a YT friend thought maybe that was the problem, because me and her both always render in HD, and one of the other ones that I know had some issues, her video was also rendered in HD.

I'm going to investigate this thought a bit, by uploading a test video that's in a lower quality and see if it's still pixelated. But I was just wanting to see if anyone here had issues with a video that was in a lower quality than HD.

yes i use to get the same issue, and just now had it on my latest upload on my gaming channel, thats because i did it through my laptop rather than my pc so didn't have the link i usually upload on youtube

i found this one when searching google a while back. it brings you to the upload page but i not had issues with glitchyness since ive used it

https://www.youtube.com/my_videos_upload

dunno if it helps you.

I think it is a youtube issue, I can't even play any video on Hd and it wasnt like that a week or two ago. I don't think that there is a issue with how anyone is rendering a video, so I suggest waiting a week or so to see if things get better

I'm not sure what Youtube's problem is, haha, but one of my friends reuploaded one of her glitchy videos in a lower quality (480p, I believe) and the pixelation went away ... which is weird, but I figure it's at least worth a try, lol!

Yeah, I noticed this with the last couple vids I uploaded to YT. Both times I uploaded nice high quality renders that looked great on my computer, but even in HQ on YT they looked like they were running at the lowest possible quality.

I know a couple of people have had more success in rendering in 480p, but even that didn't work for me, my video was still very pixelated and grainy.

Some else suggested .mp4 format instead of .wmv. I've never used .mp4, but I gave it a shot. It was no longer pixelated or grainy, but it looked like a very low quality vid.

So I'm just guessing that YT has some kind of nasty bug going on that's screwing with video quality, which sucks, but hopefully when they fix it, the videos will return to normal.

So i've found a fix for me, that works and been using it for the last week or so.

So people say rendering in MP4 works, and you don't get the glitches. Only thing for me is I hate rendering in MP4 it really makes my computer slow right down and get overheated. Plus my video template I use is the 4K 16:9 24p (4096x2304, 23.976 fps) so it takes mega long and sometimes when a render complete it looks like crap to me. So i still stick to rendering in WMV, doesn't take as long and I can mulitask on other things while its doing it.

So how do i stop the glitches? Well i googled everywhere and looked on youtube at peoples fixes and they all said change your render to mp4 and i'm all like "I DON'T WANNA! DAM YOU YOUTUBE" but i found this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMf1oF0xazE

Downloaded this Handbrake program followed the instruction. (Sometimes i have to change the cropping back down to zero, it only does it on my gaming videos, tries to cut out the subtitles but its an easy fix. my other vids for fan vidding no problem) uploaded and smooth as a baby's bum no pixels!

So if you are like me and not a fan of rendering in MP4 heres a work around

Yeah, I have some friends on YT that keep telling me to try MP4, but I haven't ever done MP4 before, I don't really enjoy changing how I do things. Plus, my laptop gets cranky sometimes (especially with Vegas) so I have found another alternative to MP4 that seems to work.

From what I've heard, the problem lies with Vegas itself and the way it codes some of the files. So, someone pointed out that they had rendered their video in HD in WMV and then dropped it into Movie Maker, set the settings the same as they had them for Vegas, and rerendered it in Movie Maker and it uploaded fine, without any glitches.

I haven't actually tried this out, but if anyone else on here has and knows if it really does work, I'd love to know.

I'm hearing it's more from Youtube; I heard that Youtube is no longer supporting WMV files; and that they're wanting people to render with MP4.

I'm just going to stick with Vimeo until it's fixed.

yeah thats what i heard to, they've changed some coding although saying that i uploaded one of my gaming vids yesterday i accidently uploaded the wmv file rather than the mp4 but im sure well i didn't spot them there wasn't any pixels.

But i'll still stick to my work around till we know for sure.

It looks like the pixels show up mostly when there's edits; especially transitions. That's what it looked like with my vid I had uploaded a week or so ago.
