I NEED TO STOP READING CASTING SPOILERS BUT OMG I AM EXCITED NOW!!!
I figured Alex would have been his daughter...but DUH. He was obviously taken off the island when he was young and wouldn't have been there when Alex was born. So there for Danielle must have been off the island too.
I was happy to see Roger because I enjoy the actor, and enjoyed their conversation of the island.
And was I the only one who was happy that Nikki and Paulo's “death” were brought up again! The fact that they were buried alive! FINALLY. I never cared about the characters to be honest, but their last episode was so interesting, especially the fact that they were alive. I was glad that it was finally brought up again after 3 years.
Ilana who are you!?
I was never a fan of Artz, and I find him even more annoying this episode. He complains WAY too much.
Poor Richard. I hope we get to see a Richard centric episode soon. The guy lost his faith.
JACK HAS FAITH. Awww he saved Richard. He had faith that Richard would stop the fuse. Awesome.
I love Jack and it's nice that we get to see some Jack and Richard scenes.
I always felt that Ben could have saved her, Alex. And I think if he knew she'd die either way, why leave her with thinking he never cared about her. And if he died in her place, the island wouldn't have been effected by it.
I was glad that Ben finally stopped being selfish and did the right thing.

Still not feeling Ilana at all, personally. The acting is wooden and the range is about two notes, so to speak. The tough girl shtick rings even more false from her than it does when Kate does it.
I enjoy Ben episodes, but I felt that the whole 'crisis' was delivered a bit too obviously this episode (which is weird, as I don't think Ben is as obvious a character as some others). It felt like it relied too much on exposition of stuff that had already happened with other people than on what Ben's ultimate choice was. I'd have liked something with a subtler touch.
Jack's 'gunpowder' choice seems just as crazy as Locke's 'we're not going to push the button in the Hatch; let's see what happens!' (and, earlier this season, with him bolting down the poison pill meant for Sayid). I don't know if that's faith; I'd put that more on him becoming progressively more unhinged. _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.
She doesn't bother me. I want to know who she is. She obviously had a very strong tie to Jacob. And I want to know what that is and why she is there. Because she seems to know a lot about MIB and the candidates. I find her fascinating.
I think Jack is getting faith, I think him seeing his dad's house shows that he has a purpose and a reason to being on that island and he is slowly seeing it.
I thought him helping Richard was incredible because in that moment Richard needed guidance to know that he was there for a purpose, and I think he is.

Yes, of course, but I'm not too convinced that the purpose that the island/Jacob/Ilana have in mind is necessarily benign. I hesitate to say that he's putting 'faith' in things when his supposed kindling of faith is leading him to act hotheaded and irrational. The simple fact that he's right in those choices (poison pill and dynamite) does not confirm he was ultimately right, either; both situations feel too pat and set-up. Which leads me to...

Richard's dynamite thing felt like a setup to me, too: Put Jack in a position where he had to trust in the island and have that trust pay off. Though I enjoy Richard as a character, I do not trust his motives, and it just felt way too convenient for me to buy into the idea that Jack won out in that scene. I can't help but think that Dogen was pulling Jack's strings in the poison pill debacle, and that Richard was pulling them in the scene tonight.
I think Richard knows exactly what purpose he's there for, and I think he wants Jack to realize that purpose as well, as Jacob said. I'm just not convinced that purpose is in any way good for Jack. _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

This was by far the best episode of the season in my opinion. Michael Emerson is a genius and always is amazing in Ben centric episodes. I always end up feeling sorry for Ben even know he's murdered dozens of people. Only a great actor can do that.
I'm pumped to see Alan Dale back on the show because he's also an incredible actor and it looks like we will be seeing a Black Rock centric episode coming up very soon.
We still aren't getting to many answers, but that didn't bother me because at least this was still a phenomenal episode.
It seems like even know Smokey wants to leave, that he is still concerned about the island, because he told Ben that somebody needed to stay. I was really hoping Ben would bust a cap in Illana (I can't stand that actress) but Ben redeemed himself a little by not killing her.
I really liked the Jack, Richard scene. It's nice to see Jack finally owning up to his destiny because it's pretty obvious to me that Jack has more of a purpose on the island than any other character does. It's also pretty obvious to me that Lost will end with Jack either saving everybody or saving the island. I'm thinking Jack might end up dieing and being the tragic hero. Jack's always been the leading character on the show, the hero. The first scene of Lost was focused on Jack's character and I'm sure the last scene of Lost will be too. _________________

What Jack did with the dynamite wasn't faith. Once again, he just wanted something proven. If he had FAITH in Jacob, then he wouldn't try to test him. That's not what faith is; faith is when you believe in something without any concrete proof, like Hurley following Jacob's orders without knowing why. (Hurley has my vote for Jacob's replacement. )
I also don't think Richard was pulling strings with Jack. I think he truly wants to die. Thank God he didn't, though, I woulda been SAD.

Jack put HIMSELF in that position. He could've left like Hurley.
It was awesome to see Alex again! And it was cool, because in the alt-verse Ben gave up power for Alex and in the real world he gave up Alex for power. _________________ icon by becca

I thought did but that's just me.
I agree that Richard wanting to die. It reminds me of the people who lose faith in the thing that they believed in the most to feel it was never worth it (Though I believe it was).

WIDMORE RIDING IN ON A SUB BITCHES
I'm starting to like Ilana personally I dunno why I guess it's because she's emoting more. Her hard girl act is far more easy for me to swallow than Ana Lucia which grated on me.
Arzt at the friggin school! I hoped he was and teaming up with Ben, just a shame it didn't work out.
Why oh why do I still feel sorry for Ben? I can't help it I should loathe him really.
MORE SAWYER NEXT WEEK although the episode was a lot of fun. _________________

I like her now too! My favorite part of the entire episode was when she forgave Ben. That was so great! Maybe I will start to ship them. LOL Blana...haha _________________
