I use Sony Vegas 9 (The cheapest one...what 70 dollars in the states?)
And it's lagging a lot. It takes like 2 minutes for it to even open up some of my videos. And when I play the videos they jump around and skip over scenes and it makes it difficult to really edit.
I don't know what I should do. Should I reinstall it? |

Some things you might check first before you try a reinstall (unless you already have )...
If you're using .AVI footage, it can take forever to open the project because it's trying to build the audio peaks (that usually fail anyway). I keep an eye on the bottom left corner and when it switches to saying "building peaks" I usually go ahead and click cancel and that will get it to skip over that step.
When you say it jumps and skips around while you play the videos, do you mean it does that while you're trying to preview your vid? That's unfortunately all too common, especially the more clips you get on the timeline. Also if you have a mix of clips, .AVI, .WMV, .MPEG, etc., sometimes that will cause the previewing to be especially jumpy. Or it can just be something in one of the clips that makes it act up worse than normal. There's not too terribly much you can do about that.
I use markers to help me find where the beats are and have to do a lot of "sight editing" where I try to place the clips by looking at the markers, then I spot render it to see if I've got them where I want them.
Or if none of that's the case, it can also be from something like not having enough RAM or enough space left on your hard drive. Both of those can interfere with Vegas because video editing takes up a lot of space and RAM.
Whatever is causing the problem, I hope you get it to working for you soon! |

I agree with Aislynn. I have the same problem with my Vegas. In fact I just got a new verison of Vegas, Movie Studio Platinum Pro pack, because I thought maybe the better verison might work better. But I still have to use markers and spot render to make sure I hit the beats right. All I can suggest is to spot render in a WMV 512KB it takes much less time to render than any of the other settings. _________________

I think it's the over use of clips. I don't use AVI clips because sony wont let me see them.
I "THINK" I have enough ram. I have four gigs. It's a Vista and Vista needs more than XPs do. |
