Hello everyone, this is Angel's husband. I've got a bit of a problem I'm hoping someone here can help me with.
I'm getting ready to deploy in a couple of months and part of getting ready is taking my rather large collection of DVD's and trying to put them onto a 1TB external HD so I have something to watch. Unfortunately, it seems that DVD Shrink is taking my Airwolf episodes and breaking them into 3-part segments, they are also all being saved as VOB files and I can't seem to change the extension no matter what I do (and all the converter programs I've been downloading only convert about 30% of various files) rendering the ripped episode portions useless.
I haven't tried any of my other series yet, so I don't know if this is an isolated issue or if it's something that's going to occur whenever I try to rip something.
In case it might be my computer here is what I'm running:
HP Pavilion DV6000 series laptop, dual-core AMD processor, nVidia video card (the computer is built to play dvd's and other media). I can put more specifics up if necessary but rest assured it's a good computer - I used to play WoW on it all the time!
So, back to the question at hand:
Why is DVD Shrink breaking my 1-hour episodes up even when I don't compress them?
and
Why can't I seem to change the VOB format to an MPEG, AVI, or WMV format so they can be viewed on my computer?
lastly
How do I fix these things?
Myself and the soldiers I work with thank you all for any help you can give us - morale drives are HUGE when deployed!

Hey and good luck out there!
Well I haven't had much experience ripping with DVD Shrink but it seems it's best when you have two stages/programs with extracting and converting the files.. there's a tutorial here: http://community.livejournal.com/vidding/1708005.html You will also need Auto Gordian Knot to convert to divx avi: http://www.autogk.me.uk/ _________________

Thanks Paul! He's very happily backing-up his shows and movies (and no longer cussing loudly )
That 1GB chunk part is what helped him on that tutorial. I never realized it was there because I only cut small 1-2 minute clips, not full episodes or movies.
Thanks for the quick response! |
