I just finished my trial with the Vegas Movie Studio 8 and when I went to see about buying it online I found there were several versions of the program.

Is there any real difference between Vegas Movie Studio 8 and 9 ?
I've seen people mention using Sony Vegas 7, is there any real difference between it and 8 or any other numbered version?

Mainly I'm just trying to figure out the differences in the effects and transitions offered in the programs.

Hey

The effects and transitions are the same in all versions. I use Sony Vegas 7 because the newer versions don't seem to like Mpeg 2 files at all which is what I use on the main. Also they seem to have issues with vista and the new versions of windows.

nah; there's no really big difference. not that i know of, anyway. I started out using 6, then went to 8 which i found too confusing. I've used 7 for about a year and i love it. and its pretty much the same as 8 from what i could gather, accept the layout is different I know people who still use 5 and 6 and make phenomenal vids so it's really just up to the vidder and how good they are at using the effects on hand

I use Sony Vegas 7, because Sony Vegas 8 was a bit bitchy on my computer. Sony Vegas 8 is a bit faster when it comes to rendering your vids, but 7 works better on my computer. It's more stable and not so fussy

Thanks for the help.

I think I will look into getting Sony Vegas 7.It sounds like a better program than Sony Vegas 8. I've been using Windows Movie maker and it's fussy so I really do not want another program that's going to be fussy like that.

Where would you recommend buying Sony Vegas 7 ? Can you get it from Amazon.com , Best Buy Online or Sony's Website etc.?
Do you know about how much it usually costs ?
