It's REALLY challenging though, because you're not making a trailer and (for the moment) you're not making your OWN scene.
So you can take dialogue from the movie and sync it with losties. This is hard because of the continuity of a scene. There's a very slim chance that that you're gonna find great lip syncs with out switching "the lost scene" several times. Do you get what I am saying? In recreating one movie scene the background in the lost clips would change multiple times... not very believable scene.
In the other version... say you recreate a scene using lost dialogue, it's very hard to get the feeling of the scene from the movie (especially w/o the exact dialogue). Again I think you'd have a big problem with continuity.
It's just really confusing to me as to how this should be done. Is there an example you can give of what you're looking for? |
You don't have to lip sync if you don't want to. Bad lip sync can be just lame rather than cool. Think how we interpret lyrics in a regular music video to tell the story and to show what the characters are going through. You can still do this without lyrics or audio clips. That is the one of the main themes of this contest to get you to show a story of a video you make without lyrics. One other idea you could use if you're stuck you can use sound effects from the original movie say in star wars Darth Vader's heavy breathing or the sound of Indiana Jones cracking his whip to signal a character's entrance.
It's a given you're going to be restricted in terms of the background scenery. It's understandable if you have to film say The Godfather on a tropical island You do also have all the flashback footage to work with as well. That said there are a lot of films that you could use Lost footage and get away with it like people have mentioned: Titanic,, Indiana Jones etc.
If anyone wants any specific pointers for their vid feel free to pm me and I'll do my best to help you out. _________________

I might do a Romeo and Juliet one (the Baz Luhrmann version).
Question: Most instrumental songs have "choirs", does the council consider them as lyrics (even though it's in Latin and hard to make out)? |

Well we have good new and bad news..
good news first! You can use Latin choirs and humming and such just as long as there aren't any lyrics you can work with.
Bad news..
You can't make your own original movie using Lost clips. We felt it didn't fit in with the contest and would be incredibly hard to do and potentially hard to follow when watching. Sorry littleton_pace _________________

I know this is kind of cheating (LOL) but I've actually started working on a movie trailer with Lost for the "Island" using this:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=aZkHD3JTETM
Backing. Not the clips but I have all the audio (words and music) so It's just like any other Lost movie trailer I guess. Is that ok? Or do I actually have to get the music and find audio clips? |

Yeah, I was actually a bit unsure about some of the chouris sounds in the Titanic, songs, but that's great we can do it. Sorry, Kat your idea was cool
Another question, do we tell the story of the movie through out the vid? Like you said Paul, Beginning, Middle and End. Just to make sure.. _________________ Jin is lost in Sunlation forever..
