So did anyone catch the 2 hour series premiere tonight on FOX? I just finished watching it and omg I think I'm already hooked. lol. Seriously . . . this show kicks ass!!! I wasn't really expecting to like it very much from what I seen of the previews and promos but turns out I flippin' loved it.
So did anyone else watch it besides me?
Here's what it's about if you haven't heard of it yet.
Drive follows the lives of a group of Americans racing each other in a sinister and possibly mortal cross-country race. Each has a special reason to compete-and each must win. Among the racers are two brothers in a stolen pimped-out Cadillac that carries secrets of its own, a man trying to find his missing wife, a scientist and his teenage daughter, and others. No one knows who they're racing or where the finish line is, so anything is possible. Starring Nathan Fillion (Firefly), premieres tonight 8p.m. est on Fox.
Tonight's episodes "The Starting Line" and "Partners" The action packed drama follows the lives of a group of people who joined the cross-country road for different reasons. Some have opted to join the race and some have been forced to join, but they are going after the $32 million prize. The liaison meets the participants in the Florida Keys and gives them instructions for the first leg of the race.
It's great to finally see Nathan Fillion back in action. Here's to hoping that this show doesn't get cancelled tho like Firefly did. You can't ever trust FOX.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the opener and I'm definitely gonna keep watching. Can't wait for the next episode! _________________
Haha . . . Ais, I don't have Tivo either, or a VCR for that matter.
If I happen to miss one of my shows I just dl them and watch them on my computer. I'm too cheap to shell out the money for anything like Tivo. lol.
So how'd you like the opener Ais? Pretty bloody good for a pilot huh. And how cool is it that Amy Acker is playing Nathan's wife? That just made my Joss Weadon verse heart squeeeee!!! lol
I hope to see more of her too in the upcoming episodes, even if it's just in flashbacks or whatever. I've really missed her since her days on Angel.
Oh and I'm soooo rooting for either Alex or Wendy to win the race. I really like both of those characters the most for some reason. Haha . . . I really thought she was gonna shoot that one girl so she wouldn't get eliminated. and then 5 minutes later she's like "I think I should of shot you" LOL.
Anyway, I hope she gets her baby boy back and Alex gets his wife back, but I kinda doubt that'll happen. Atleast not to both of them anyway.
So yay . . . new episode tonight!!! I'm gonna make my older sister watch it too. lol. She, like every other female alive, has the major hots for Nathan. But then again, this show has alot eye candy. _________________

I really liked it! Lots of action and witty dialogue and I'm a total sucker for a fast-paced show with a sense of humor! Definitely one I'm going to watch again!

Copying & Pasting my review of this from my livejournal:
I really loved this show. The premise is just fun - an illegal cross-country race for millions of dollars, some participants more willing than others.
I love the cast and the characters. I already have my favorites of course, notably Tully, Wendy, and the Salazar brothers, Sean and Winston. Ivy has grown on me and so has the young married couple, Ellie & Rob Laird. I think I'm supposed to like Corinna, but I'm having trouble warming to her for some reason. The father and daughter duo also hits a soft spot.
I think the casting of the show was done really well. Everyone just seems really relatable, unlike, in my opinion, another very popular ensemble cast out there. I don't know what it is, but I just could never warm to the cast of Heroes. I don't know whether it was the characters themselves, or the casting in general.
Instead of going through the first 3 eps, I'm just gonna talk a bit about the characters I mentioned above.
Alex Tully is our clear hero and possibly our moral guidepost. He's the one who seemingly has the most to lose. His wife has been held hostage and the only way for him to get her back is to win this race. Even if we didn't feel for his character's plight, we instantly like him. But he's got some mysterious past that isn't clear. Loving him so far!
Corinna Wiles is the one who's not in it to win. She's in it for revenge. I dunno if I like her. Her entire past is tied to The Race and there's no reason to not like the character. Just hasn't really grown on me yet!
Sean and Winston Salazar. Can we say Sam & Dean? Not only do they drive an Impala, but they've got undeniable Sam and Dean type characteristics. Winston loves and appreciates his classic car and is a bit on the badass side. Sean is the sensitive younger brother with floppy hair. Plus? The scene in which Sean finds out that Winston really is his brother? So much angst! So. Good.
Wendy, the crazy lady with the plastic baby! I loved her right from the start, but after her little incident with the carseat and Ivy, I have to admit, she may very well be crazy! She's so likeable and a bit of a longshot, so we want to root for her don't we?
Rob & Ellie, the young married couple. I thought they were a little annoying at first, but after the third episode, I couldn't help but fall in love with them and their own reasons for being in The Race. I'm not usually a sucker for that sort of thing, but these guys really won me over.
John & Violet, the father and daughter duo. This duo breaks my heart. The fact that he's sick and she doesn't know. Him trying to let go of his clearly formerly uptight ways in order to spend the last year of his life having fun with his daughter, it's just all so sweet and heartbreaking. And the scene where she teaches him to lie, but she doesn't realize just how well he actually can lie. Oh, my heart. I love them!
Ivy Chitty, the annoying one. She's so emotionally detached from the whole thing. There's no reason to root for her, and I don't really. But I think her blossoming friendship/parternship with Wendy could turn that around. She's fun to watch in the very least.
The bottom line? It's a good time.
If you're like me and you missed the first three episodes. They were on Sunday & Monday, go here (www.tv-links.co.uk/show.do/1/1699) where you can watch them streaming to get all caught up. You won't regret it.
