I am a Jater and I DID appreciate this episode. I do concede that it had a weird feeling because it was all so sudden and you knew in advance it was going to end badly. Still, I thought it was adorable (not "gratuitous" at all) and I very much enjoyed it!
Additionally, I really dislike all the haterade being thrown about by some skaters. I feel like the Jater reaction to the Skex wasn't half as aggressive or harsh. I guess I can't change people's opinion's, but it feels like the attacks on Jate are soo intense and uncalled for. Lightin' up people! It was one episode's FF, it was years into the future, AND it ended poorly! Call off your shipper dogs!
That's what I wanted to say yesterday but I didn't want to be shouted at...
Skate in season 3 was an ongoing thing and from what I remembered, jaters didn't react this badly. Clearly the jate (or at least jate like in the episode) will be a one off thing...How can you skaters shout at us about the episode? We didn't write it...And of course we're going to be happy..we had a happy ending for our ship untill it got not so happy and broke up (though that was one of my favourite scenes, angsty jate )
There's still so much time left in the show, anything could happen. I know everyone wants their ship to work but I think we shouldn't hate each other because of that...

The Jate scenes... they were exactly what I expected as the "happy ending" of those two's relationship. It's been clear, since the beginning, Kate was going to end up with Jack. He's the hero. She's always cared about Sawyer, sure, but she's always really been in love with Jack. Sawyer knew it. We knew it (even most Skaters can't help but admit it). And this just kinda proved it. The living together, the proposal, everything... it was just - everything that Jate was destined to be from the start.
But then they had the twist .
I guess Kate's not entirely done with Sawyer yet. heh.
Though I bet it was something innocent, like getting in contact with Cassidy and her kid, the fact Kate was hiding it from Jack, and Jack was that hurt about it... interesting. Perhaps Skate's not over yet. Especially if the next season picks up where I think it will (right after where the flashforwards leave off) and they try to get back to the island.

Kate clearly isn't in love with Sawyer in the FF. She is doing him a favour. She agreed to marry Jack ffs! And with her reaction being so happy and giddy you can't deny that she and Jack are completely in love with eachother. It's always been Jack and Kate.
Jack has major trust issues concerning women - especially if he's marrying them. Sarah cheated on him, and you know the saying: once burned.. To me it was perfectly clear that seeing his dad and hearing Kate say "Jack wont be home, you can come over then" on the phone is bringing back all his pre-island memories about how his ife used to be, and he is thinking ahead this time instead of waiting till Kate tells him she's had an affair and is leaving him like Sarah did. He's preparing himself in a way.
He thinks it's too good to be true.
Hurley did say "I was happy once too. And then I saw Charlie."
You know Jate are gonna work it out. They are THE couple of the show. It's just the way it's supposed to be.
Everyone is being so harsh on Jate and Jaters. We never reacted this harshly to the Skex in S3. Just leave us be eh? Feck off
We've have a 4 year build up for this episode - you can't say it's rushed cos alot of important scenes (that were bound to happen - i.e propoal ) happened in one episode.
Its been clear something like this was gonna happen since the Pilot.

I agree!!! Though they turned it into a triangle, I think everyone knew it would end with jate.

Same, I remember lots of jaters being "I still found it nice" and stuff...maybe I had my rose coloured glasses on but I never remember us giving this much backlash...
I did think it seemed a little rushed...I wish we'd been taken to the beginning of their FF relationship and have gotten to see all the "Firsts". I BET if they showed that more people would be happier.

I wasn't having a dig at you I just don't understand it that's all. I want Jack to be happy too and I saw him having the best relationship with Juliet because they are more equals so it was another kick in the ribs to hear Juliet say that the kiss meant nothing between them. When she went on about how you're not safe around me cause of Ben and he says he's not going anywhere was just so sweet. I still hope Juliet didn't really mean what she said. I mean maybe there's something to it but I hope that Jacket do have a lot of affection for each other and there's a future for them.
Elle how are we being harsh lol? I was thinking about the episode I do and really the skex was a small part of it. The thing that annoys me about the last ep is it was virtually an all encompassing storyline that took away from anything else going on in the episode. The island story as a result had to be about a pointless Jack getting sick for a while then getting better storyline. _________________

The island story was abit pointless I agree, because we know that he was going to be alright. But it left a new question - if the island is a healing place then why did Jack get sick?
Alot of Skaters are being harsh, calling Jate names and bashing Kate and Jack's characters..

Seriously? Maybe not in this forum, but I've seen Skate and Skaters been called very nasty things. It think my favourite one was pig porn. I confess, that my first post wasn't so nice, i used the word "disgusting" for jate, because was what i felt when i saw the episode, my comment was made after watch the episode, so i said what i felt in that moment.
Later, more rationally,my others posts in this theard wasn't to offend anybody, i simply said my opinion with all respect for all jaters members. But i don't like jack, i don't like jate, this episode show why i don't like them, so why can't i express my opinion about it??? why is harsh?

I always call Jate "disgustingly cute" to my Jater friend as a joke, in reference to season 1 how they were so sweet and cute around each other all the time. Like when people say that a couple is so cute, it's sickening, technically isn't a bad thing for that couple. lol I'm probably the least harsh Skater on here right now! Just thought I'd throw that out there and make sure people don't get the wrong idea. I want to stay out of shipper wars, but I feel like I've let myself be dragged into them. _________________

lol to be honest i think all the ships are disgusting! *feels the heat of every lost shipper ready to attack him* JUST joking. I told Aislynn though, I think the best outcome would be Hurley and Kate getting together.

I mean, relationships are touched on, but there's not one or more huge ship that it centers around! No love triangle that kills you! lol All you have to do is focus on the show. hehe I mean, there was a short-lived triangle, but none of this really lasts or grows into anything that the show revolves around, like on Lost. It's refreshing I tell you! _________________

Hehe well you cant convert me! I think it has to do with 2 things. 1. Daroltons writing record has been mainly girlie relationship based shows. Im too lazy to look it up though. 2. ABC's core demographic is women. Just look at all the shows on ABC right now. Grays Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Dancing with the Stars, and so on. I think with all honesty ABC makes them put some of that mushy shippey stuff in there to keep that female demographic. Thats just my opinion though.
