I'm looking for some new music to get into and I was wondering if anyone has got a great CD to recommend? I'm looking for pop/punk/rock-music, if it helps but if you've got a great on, tell me! I really want to expand my CD-collection with great new music for the fall/winter
For me, the best ever is Green Day's American Idiot (can it get any better?), Alanis Morisette's Jagged Little Pill (a lot of memories), and Bodies Without Organs' Prototype (sounds like their greatest hits album, but it's their debut... http://www.poplife.se/Magellan/pages/main.jsp?storeId=10151&pageId=collectionDisplay&viewId=656326)
But I'd like to hear your music!

Like IntotheVoid, I don't bother with CDs (I'd go broke if I did).
Hmm, rock/pop/punk?
Try:
Muse - Showbiz or Absolution
Panic! At the Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
James Blunt (I know it's not any of the above genres, but I noticed you liked him in the What You're Listening To Thread) - Back to Bedlam
Damien Rice (If you like James Blunt, you'll LOVE this guy) - O (yeah, it's the title of the album)
Coldplay - X&Y
Weezer - Make Believe
I could just keep listing, but you might not even like the ones I have down. If you want to hear samples, I'm sure you can just type in the album in www.amazon.com or something like that and hear them. _________________

Elvis Costello's early best-of CD provides a good introduction (not the crappy recent one, which has stuff like 'She' on there.)
So do 'A Quiet Normal Life' or 'Genius,' the best-of Warren Zevon CDs.
(I had to recommend both, heh.)
More in line with your tastes, I'd recommend 'Drums and Wires' or 'Black Sea,' XTC, 'Frosting on the Beater,' The Posies, ''#1 Record/Radio City,' Big Star, 'Spilt Milk,' Jellyfish, and some early REM - 'Life's Rich Pageant' or 'Document' are decent introductions to some of the less accessible stuff. _________________ I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. Oh thanks TFC! I'll check all of em out, maybe I find something I really like Elvis Costello is great, my aunt has actually been to one of his gigs in the US... so I like him too, but his music doesn't run very much in my iPod.
That, in the other hand, does the early REM! They're soo great, one of my faves
What do you guys think of Bodies Without Organs? I know it's not your kind of music, and actually it's not mine either (I'm more into punk/rock/hardrock) but BWO totally stole my heart... _________________

I am no help at all, but you reminded me of this one time years ago when my friend Jake was over and looking through my CDs and he goes, "Who's Damien Rice-O?" As if that was his name. "Rice-O" Haha. I just started cracking up and he said it like two more times, completely unaware at why I was laughing. Every time I'd catch my breath from laughing long enough to start explaining it he would ask again and I would lose it once again.
So off topic. I'm sorry. |

Haha! Great story!
In related news, Damien Rice owns my soul with his music, lyrics, and singing capacity.
*Snicker* Rice-o. Now I can never look at him the same way, KC! _________________

I hear Damien Rice collects souls. Puts them in a little jar on his night stand. It's fairly creepy actually. |

Great, now I will associate Damien Rice with Dead Like Me. Actually, two of my favorite things in one mindframe. Not a bad idea! _________________

I really like Jack Johnson and Joseph Arthur. But I just discovered this fun band called The Kings of Leon. Check out their song called "King of the Rodeo." I promise not all of their music has a royalty theme haha.
I'm currently trying to collect a bunch of music to make a new mix-tape of new stuff. |
