LVI : Secrets

Episode Ten: Life After Death

Colin was shifting through the songs on his iPod's playlist. He heard a faint scream over the music blaring in his ears and looked up. He could see up ahead what looked like Shelly, sitting in the middle of the road, slamming her fists into the ground. Colin paused his iPod and heard her screaming. He was stunned and confused as to what was going on.
A car swerved around the corner, the driver looked in his twenties, and music booming from the speakers he had in his car. The man shook his head, rocking it around with his music. Colin turned his head and looked at the car. Everything seemed to slow down as Colin watched the car heading straight for Shelly in the middle of the road. He stared at the car, determined it was going to stop. It wasn't slowing down at all.
"Shelly!" Colin heard Harry yell. He looked over and saw Harry dropping his bags and running towards Shelly. "Get out of the way!" The car wasn't stopping.
Colin saw Shelly's body roll across to the other side of the street and suddenly, the car smashed into Harry. Colin jumped and dropped his iPod. His ear phones came out and the iPod hit the ground.
The car driver got out of his car, in tears as he saw the boy’s body. Shelly had tears running down her face, still screaming. Colin stepped over his iPod and ran towards the car.
"Oh my god!" the man kept repeating. "Oh my god".
"HARRY!" Shelly screamed. "HARRY!!!"
Colin came up behind Shelly. She turned to him, her face had blood smeared across it and tears running down it. He looked over her shoulder at Harry's mangled, bloody body on the road. He was dead.
Colin stared at it and looked back at Shelly. She felt forward onto him, crying uncontrollably. He grabbed and held onto her as the driver still stood next to his car, not saying anything besides "Oh my god."
Sirens started being heard blocks away. After a few seconds, ambulances and police cars were surrounding the scene. Shelly was still hugging Colin crying. Shelly looked over Colin's shoulder at Harry's body still lifeless on the pavement.

Secrets

Paul and Holly laid on the gronud in front of the couch, completely naked. Their clothes were spread all over the room. They both laid there staring at the ceiling. Holly opened her mouth about to say something but stopped. Paul did the same. Holly finally opened her mouth, "Wow."
"I agree," Pauly answered.
Holly didn't move, "Wow."
Pauly looked over at her. She looked at him. "Wanna do that again?"
"Sure." Paul turned over onto Holly and they started to kiss. The phone rang. Holly pulled away, "I have to get that."
"Let the machine get it."
"No, just hang on," Holly pushed Paul off her and picked up the phone. "Hello?" She looked at Paul on the ground. He yawned. Holly stopped smiling at Paul. "What?"

Nate and Vicky laid on the ground in front of the couch, completely naked. Their clothes were spread all over the room. Nate smiled and looked at Vicky. "That was nice," he said.
"Thank you," she smirked and sat up and grabbed her bra. Nate got up and looked at her. "What are you doing?"
"Getting ready to go," she said as she pulled up her jeans.
"Well, can't you stay for a little bit?"
"Nah, sorry." She grabbed her purse and started to walk towards the door. The phone rang. She stopped and turned around and looked at it, then Nate. "Are you gonig to answer that, Nate?"
Nate didn't notice the phone ringing. "Nate!" He was shooken out of his daydream. "What?"
Vicky pointed at the table, "The phone."
"Oh." He walked over and looked at the Caller ID. "I'll let the machine get it."
"Who is it?"
"It's Colin," Nate bent down and grabbed his clothes. "Nate," Vicky put down her purse and ran over and grabbed up the phone. "Colin?" She gave Nate an angry look. He shrugged and gave her a look. She stopped looking at him and her eyes fell to the ground. "Oh my god." Nate realized it was serious and quickly put on his shirt. "What is it?" he asked and Vicky put her finger to her lips. "Is she okay?" Nate's eyes widened when he heard that. Suddenly, he saw Holly's gravestone in the cemetery. The image disappeared. Why did he see that? He doesn't love Holy, why would he see that? Do I still love Holly? Nate thought.

Jaime finally got the courage to and grabbed the phone and dialed Holly's number. "I'm gonna kill that bitch," Jaime mumbled under her breath. The phone continued to ring.
"Hey, this is Holly. I'm not here right now. Leave a message."
Jaime slammed the phone down. She jumped as the phone rang. She quickly grabbed it. "Paul? Oh, sorry, Colin. Colin? What's wrong?"

Kevin and Liz were kissing in her bed. His hand was under her shirt. Liz moaned and continued kissing him. Images of scremaing, crying babies flashed in her mind. "I want to have children with you someday." Images of her screaming and thousands of babies shooting out of you zapped through. Kevin was next to her smiling, holding 10 babies. Liz opened her eyes and pushed Kevin away from her. "Ow!" He fell backwards off the bed, his pants around his ankles "Liz!"
"Sorry!" She jumped up to help him. The phone rang. She helped him up and ran over and picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Liz?"
She rolled her eyes, "What do you want, Colin?"
"I have--"
"Colin, I don't want to hear this. I heard it in Hollywood and I told you, I don't love you anymore."
"Liz, this has nothing--"
"Don't call me again."
"Liz, wait!" She hung up the phone. She turned back to Kevin, who was completely naked. "Whoa! Kev, that was fast!" The phone rang again. She gave it an angry glare and walked over and pulled the phone line out of its socket. "There." She smiled and turned back to Kevin. She unzipped her pants and walked toward him."

Colin stood in the hospital at the pay phone. It continued ringing. "Come on, Liz. Pick up."
"Colin!" He turned around and saw Holly and Paul walking towards him. "Hey," he looked at the phone. He sighed and hung up.


Holly, Paul, Vicky, Marcus, Colin, Tom, Ashley and Jaime all sat in the waiting room. Most of them at least had some tears runnnig down their face. Holly looked around the room. "Where's Nate?"
Vicky looked up from the ground at Holly, "He said he had to do something before he came."
"Oh, oh,"Holly stared around the room, she'd been crying for three hours staight. Harry was gone. All of them couldn't believe it. "Vicky, could I use your phone?" Colin asked.
Vicky looked up at him. "Why?"
"I haven't gotten a hold of Liz yet."
"Oh... yeah, here." He grabbed the phone from her and walked down the hallway.

Liz and Kevin, laid in each other's arms, kissing. "I love you, Liz." She smiled and looked at him. "I love you too." Her cell phone rang. She sighed and quickly kissed Kev before she grabbed it. She flipped it open. "Hey Vicky."
"Liz, listen to me. She--"
"Shut up, you bastard!"
"Liz! Listen to me!" She slammed the phone shut and threw it against the wall. It broke in half. She sat down on the bed. Kevin stared at her. "I don't blame him."
Liz looked at him. "What are you talking about?"
He smiled, "You're Liz." She smiled at him and kissed him.

Colin gave Vicky her phone back and sat down. "Did you get through to her?" Vicky asked. Colin shook his head. A doctor came out. They all stood up, hoping for some good news. "She's gonig to be fine." Everyone sighed. "She just has a minor concussion and some pretty bad wounds on her hands."
"Is she awake?"
"Yeah, if you want to see her, she's in room 110."
"Thank you so much, doctor." They all started to walk down the hallway. Except Marcus, who stayed behind, and grabbed his coat. He walked over to the elevator and got in.

It'd been 14 hours since Harry was killed. Liz and Kevin woke up on her bed, sunlight in their eyes. "Morning," Kevin smiled and kissed Liz. She smiled and got up. As she walked, she glanced over at the phone. She had 67 new messages. "What the hell?"
She plugged in the phoneline and it rung. She quickly picked it up. "Hello?"
"LIZ! Thank god, I've been calling for hours."
"Colin, you have to stop this. I--"
"This has nothing to do with our relationship."
"Wha relationship?"
"Shut up, Liz!"
"Hey!"
"There was an accident."
"What? What kind of accident?"
"Shelly was hysterical, she was sitting in the middle of the road. A car flew down the road and they didn't see her..."
"Oh god," Liz sat down on the bed, Kevin heard the word accident so he was also worried. He watched Liz's face. She had a look of horror on her face and within seconds was in tears. "Okay..." she wiped some tears. "We'll be there in a few minutes." She hung up the phone and looked at Kevin. "What's wrong?" he finally asked. "Harry's dead."


Three Days Later

"Honestly, who the hell eats strawberries at a funeral?" Paul asked Colin as he grabbed a strawberry and ate it. Colin chuckled and grabbed a strawberry. "Obviously us." Paul turned around and looked around the cemetery grounds. The food was set up under a giant black tent. Harry's body was lowered into the hole only ten minutes ago. Paul looked through the faces. Half of them were Harry's relatives. Then a quarter he was sure were people who came for the free food. He saw everyone he knew. Shelly hadn't really spoken to anyone and she was sitting next to Harry's gravestone, looking in at the casket. "Is she okay?" Paul asked Colin. "I don't know. She must be traumatized. He was killed a few feet from her."
"Have you tried talking to her?"
"Well, I've been having to care of her while you guys go off on your sexcapades."
"What? Sexcapades?"
"Seriously, I can't tell that you and Holly are together now. Or Nate and Vicky, since he told me."
"Nate and Vicky?"
"Liz and Kevin are off doing only god knows. Jaime is pining after you. Marcus feels terrible about whatever he did to Shelly. Tom keeps checking out Ashley and of course, me and my weird fixation on Aislynn."
"Weird fixation?"
"I know it is. I should give up."
"How do you know these things?"
"I've stayed low. Under the radar since Liz and I broke up."
"Wow. That really creeps me out that you know all these things."
"Be more careful about what you do with Holly. You dont want to see little Pauly now do you?"
"WHAT?! You know what we do?"
"No," Colin laughed as Paul stared at him. "You sohludn't joke around like that. We're at a funeral for our friend."
"Dude, a minute ago you were just going on about funeral strawberries."
"Whatever. Are you gonig to talk to her?"
"Shelly? Yeah, i should. Make sure she's okay." Colin put down his plate of funeral strawberries and started to walk across the cemetery yard.

He walked by Liz and Kevin. Liz looked over at him as he passed. He smiled at her and nodded. She smiled back and turned back to Kevin. He was looking across the cemetery, not looking at Liz. "Liz..."
"Yeah, Kev."
"I'm going to go back to Hollywood."
"What? But I'm staying here..."
"I know," he turned and looked at her. "Liz, I love you."
"Then, why are you--"
"I don't know if you love me back."
"I do, Kevin but--"
"But."
"Kev--"
"You just said 'but'."
"I know I did. This is a hard time--"
"I don't know if it was something I said, feelings for someone else or just Harry but... I need a break."
"Kevin, please don't do this to me," Liz said, tears running down her face.
"I'll come back soon," Kevin pulled his arm away from her and started to walk back to his car. Liz looked around to make sure no one saw it happen and walked off into the far back of the cemetery.

Coli sat down next to Shelly. "Are you doing okay, Shell?"
She didn't answer.
"Shello? I know you hate that name. Shello?"
She didn't answer. She stared into the hole in the ground. "It wasn't your fault Shelly."
She just stared at the coffin. Colin sighed and started to get up. "My last conversation with him..." she moaned out, Colin sat back down. "What about it?"
"I threw myself at him. I mean, I just totally felt like it was time for us for be together. He said no."
"And?"
"I... it ended wrong. My last words to him shouldn't have been 'have a nice time in Hollywodd' said like a bitch. I was so rude to him, for a few hours I actually hated him... and then... he takes his own life to save mine... I'm a jerk. No wonder everyone hates me."
"No one hates you, Shelly."
"Yes, you do."
"No, I don't. No one else does. You're great. You're nice, you're sweet."
"I'm a whore."
"You are not a whore."
"I was pushed away by Harry so I went to MArcus' and was pushed away again. I'm surprised I didn't go to every man in the city asking to be with me."
"Hey... it happens to all of us. We're pushed away by someone we love and go on the rebound. It happens."
"It doesn't result in a death, does it?" Colin didn't have an answer for that. "We're going to go to Mandy's in a little bit, do you wanna come?"
Shelly wiped away a few tears with her bandaged hands. "Okay."
"Okay, come on, let's get over there. They have fresh strawberries." Shelly laughed and got up. She and Colin walked back to the black tent.

WOW that was awesome MG ... you handled it so well, I can imagine how hard it would have been to pick up a fic that wasn't yours. But honestly you did good

wow that was so friggin' awesome! See, the only reason why I pretty much just didn't wanna write the fic anymore cause I couldn't get past this episode. You even made one of the worst things ever to actually be funny (in some spots). That was very, very well done! I can't wait to read more!
