Discuss today's episode. Once the show has aired, and you haven't seen it, I do not recommend you read this topic. Until it airs, all spoilers refering to this episode are off limits, and should either be discussed in the spoiler forum or marked in spoiler text in here (white)

"The 23rd Psalm"
Mr. Eko interrogates Charlie about the Virgin Mary statue, Claire begins to lose faith in Charlie when she discovers his secret, and Jack is an interested observer when Kate gives the recovering Sawyer a much-needed haircut.

And absolutely NO mention of the previews for this episode, unless they're in spoiler text. (white)

Episode discussion follows. Don't say I didn't warn you. And don't read if you haven't seen the show yet you ruining-ruiner.

This is one of my favourites yet We see the monster, Charlie and Claire break up, and Eko's backstory RULES

LOVE the backstory parallels between Charlie and Eko. Just excellent.

LOVE Claire finding out about the heroin. About time.

LOVE Charlie singing and Jin's bemused reaction.

LOVE Michael's "Oh, thank GOD" face upon "Are you OK?" "Yes".

LOVE Eko mourning over his brother's dead and decomposed body. Okay, also got slightly nauseous. But still.

Absolute adoration to Eko and Charlie reciting scripture over the burning drug plane.

Overall, I just love Charlie, Claire, Eko, and Michael.

WOW to the black smoke monster. I have absolutely no idea what happened, what it is, what the real significance is, and I couldn't make out what the images were that flashed in the smoke, but WOW.

Why lie, Charlie? Why?

Gah, Sawyer/Kate action. :disgust:

Why, Eko? Why would you give Charlie a new stash of drugs? Why would you give him more temptation? Did you not hear the whole "You told me you were a drug addict" conversation with Claire?

Hurley/Libby!

What was the point of the Ana-Lucia scene at the end? Just to remind us that she's still there? At least she didn't say anything.

The Charlie/Claire ending makes me sad, but I'm looking forward to a longish angst plotline involving them. Just as long as it pays off in the end and they learn how to trust and accept each other. I'm nothing if not a shameless shipper.

And Charlie resists the urge to relapse.

Until next week, at least.

Previews look good...

First things first!

Eko is still my boyfriend even though he is a reformed war lord AND a Catholic priest. What? It's not like he actually took vows or anything! Did anyone else but me want to hug him?

Secondly, Claire finally kicks Charlie to the shore. Hallelujah! I'm sorry to all of you Claire and Charlie shippers, but it looks like no one gets this match-up. Not even Claire! ("I don't remember marrying him!") I could further talk about he's nothing but a little weasel but I'll spare you my Charlie rant. (Stupid, Ethan-killing, drug-addicted, Eko-disrespecting, lying-weasel Charlie!)

Sawyer, take a bath.

Michael? You are a moron! Why didn't you tell Jack? Why? You annoy me. Go away.

Jack, you're so nice and helpful. It's no wonder these people liken you to their leader. Too bad they're all IDIOTS!

Kate, the miracle hair-cutter. Try her out. You'll look exactly the same you did before you sat down in the chair. (That's useful.) I think she's found a new calling in life.

Locke, why do you feel it necessary to be everyone's Obi Wan? It's weird. And creepy. And stop it.

The triangle = barf. It's so soap-opera-y. Oh look, Jack and Sawyer are BFFs but now there's all this tension between Jack and Kate. Aren't we clever? Except... not. The way they're setting it up and the way they played the clip show, they made it seem like they pushed the Kate/Sawyer angle from the beginning and Jack is the "new temptation." Which is a complete role reversal. Did anyone else go huh?

The "monster." It looked cool, but it still told us Jack squat. Maybe the monster is really just a friendly giant out strolling the jungle with really bad radio-active gas? We. STILL. Don't. Know!

You all saw it, I called it (*coughSpeedofSoundCough*) it is indeed a black smoke monster! oh that was SO cool! I can't BELIEVE they showed us that! They really are listening to our whining about no questions getting answered, aren't they?
Next week looks even better, if that can be possible wow! Who's backstory is it again, btw? (say it in spoiler text)

Yeah, they both were brought into the bad side by their brothers and blame it on them. Or at least Charlie still does. Charlie was so damn annoying today "It was my brother! He got me into it! I was a choir boy and everything!" like it's his excuse. Sounds so fake now . Ah I'm glad we're FINAL:LY going back to angsty Charlie.

Because like Locke, he knows that Charlie can't overcome it unless he has the choice to. Otherwise he's always goign to stay an annoying little liar

I was actually thinking the other way around, that Charlie was pulled from a religious life to a life of drugs by his brother, and Eko was pulled from a life of--well, not drugs really, but crime, and that's pretty close--to a religious life by his brother.

I adore Charlie/Claire, they're my OTP, but I'm an angst 'shipper first and foremost.

LOL @KC. You know, if I was new to the board and just read your post I would swear that you hated the show or atleast didn't like it or any of the characters except Eko.

I for one thought it was a great episode. Loved the Eko flashbacks and I'm so glad we finally got to know how exactly that plane got there on the island.

Seeing the monster, the FULL monster was awesome. I thought I saw outlines of people inside of it. Could've been my eyes playing tricks on me but I could swear I saw the outline of a man atleast.
Warren, anything up at that site yet? I need to see a screen cap.

Now, me being a C/C shipper I must say that I'm a bit sad with how it ended with Charlie and Claire. She even packed his bags for him.
Ah well, I'm really looking forward to the angst as well. Plus, it's gonna be all the more awesome when she finally does forgive him.
I hope the kiss coming up in "Fire + Water" is in fact a PB&J! Hehe!
Hey, a gal can only hope.

Anyway, theres a whole hell of a lot more I could go on about but I'm too lazy right now. lol.

Great episode, loved it and can't wait for next weeks.

That's Jack to a tee right there.

heheh he totally got Micheal to destroy that precious jar of mayonaise...
WHY ARE THEY SHOOTING A GLASS JAR?! if there's one thing I've learned from Zelda games, it's that glass bottles are a precious commodity, especially if they have Dharma-brand Miracle Whip in them

Watched this ep with Wonka tonight, very interesting. The ep I mean.
Anyways, I loved it and yes it was deffinately sad to see the PB&J brake up....

But like what Wonka said at her house, "Now they have a priest, they can all get married"
