What type of capture card does everyone use? I had one that hated my computer and would restart it every time I tried to capture. So I got rid of it and am now trying to find another one. Could anyone recommend one, preferably under $50?

Under $50? You should probably focus on external ones, like Pinnacle's Dazzle. I think that's around $70. It's not $50, but it's cheap and fairly reliable.
