I'm really excited about this! I love him as Sherlock's brother Mycroft Holmes! Who do you think he's going to play? I think it could be Mace Tyrell, maybe? (Although, isn't Mace supposed to be rather corpulent in the books?) _________________

Sorry Eryn I'll spoiler tag in the future. Thought we had all read the books.
I've read the books, lol, I'm halfway through A Dance With Dragons. I just haven't seen past S1 of the show. And I know there are some changes and added characters or changed characters. No worries! _________________
I'm guessing it has to be Mace, only because they're supposed to be auditioning for him now and I can't think of anyone else he could be. Most of the returning characters will be played by the people who played them in season one (like Janos Slynt, for example) as far as I can tell. Unless there's someone at the wall or across the Narrow Sea I'm not thinking of, that almost has to be it. _________________

Strong Belwas? j/k
Yeah I think maybe he is Mace. I am not a huge fan of him if I'm honest. He has always seemed a bit of a theatrical comical actor to me. I wasn't a fan of Liam Cunningham and I love him now so see how he goes. _________________
Someone suggested the Kindly man or Coldhands as possible characters and that makes sense because they are shrouded in mystery. The only other characters I can think of is one of the Greyjoys, either Euron or Victarion.
Then again I suppose it is possible it is a bit of a small cameo role in much the same way as Burn Gorman in season 3. Why they would keep it a mystery though is weird. _________________

Julia and I have been discussing this today and we are both opposed to the idea of Gatiss playing one of the Greyjoys. He just is not a Greyjoy type of character.
I agree that it could be a cameo role, Paul, but I like the idea of him playing the Kindly Man as well _________________
Ooo, I hadn't even thought of CH! That seems like a good possibility!
Spoiler:
The KM works, too, because I'm guessing that would occur near the middle or end of the season, so I can see his scenes for that being wrapped up pretty fast. Hmmm...

I'd actually prefer to see him as the Kindly Man rather than Coldhands, but either would be awesome options! He definitely doesn't seem like a Greyjoy to me either, so I'm hoping that's not it.
(Also, omg, I have started watching season 3 and I forgot Burn Gorman had a cameo.... Now I'm on the lookout! ) _________________

Feel free to share your thoughts in the Season 3 thread, Eryn! I'd love to discuss with you! Season 3 is really slow in some parts, but I must admit that I enjoyed many of the new scenes and thought they were well done... better than many new scenes in Season 2 at least. _________________

So good to have GOT back! That opening sequence never fails to give me goosebumps.
Tywin melting down the sword was a great way to start the episode in a sombre and symbolic way. Love Oberyn! He's a total bad ass and a breath of fresh air with everyone afraid to step on people's toes in Kings Landing. Reference to Rhaegar and Lyanna was sick.
Jaime and the book! So happy that made it in. The references to Arthur Dayne and Duncan the Tall were awesome. The scene with Pod naming the sigils was great too and straight from the book. It is so great that they are willing to pay so much fan service to book readers.
The Thenns are scary as heck. It's kinda nice to have some antagonists amongst the wildling group because they are probably too likeable.
Jon standing up to Janos Slynt was awesome. Can't stand his character in the books and show. He's such an arrogant little twerp.
The dragons look amazing. Glad they are not cutting them back to save on budget although I hope we get some direwolves this season too.
The new Daario is a bit jarring although he seems to be a less arrogant take on the character so he might become more of a fan favourite.
The woman spying on Tyrion and Shae.. she ends up going to Cersei? o.O
Spoiler:
Isn't the spying done in service of Tywin in the book. I wonder where this is going.
Arya and Hound scenes were fun. And yay she got needle back
Spoiler:
Isn't this where the Hound was meant to be left for dead in the books? Wonder what they will do with him now so Arya can head to Bravvos.
